Národní obec fašistická v politickém systému První republiky / National Fascist Community in the political system of the First Republic

Šulcová, Štěpánka January 2012 (has links)
The ambition of this thesis is to determine the cause of the failure of the Czech fascist movement, represented by the National Fascist Community, during the First Czechoslovak Republic and to outline the position of the party in the political system. The work focuses not only on the role of the National Fascist Community in the political system, but it also addresses the territorial distribution of its electorate and membership and its participation in the parliamentary elections. The author characterizes the party program features and deals with program distinctions between the National Fascist Community and other right-wing organizations. The fundamental research question to which the author seeks an answer is: Why the National Fascist Community, as the main representative of the Czech fascist movement, did not gain a wider support from the Czech society? To what extent the National Fascist Community distinguished itself in its program agenda from other political parties and how this influenced its position in the political system? The theme of this thesis lies at the border of the history and the political science. The text is based on comparative and empirical-analytic approach, an atheoretical case study was chosen as a research method. At the end of the text the author summarizes the reasons...

Příčiny a důsledky politické krize na Slovensku v roce 1947 / Sources and Consequences of the Slovakian Political Crisis in 1947

Vaňous, Jaroslav January 2011 (has links)
The three years lasting postwar period in Czechoslovak history, sometimes denoted as the "Third Republic", still deserves attention of the historical research in the Czech Republic. The 1947 autumn political crisis in Slovakia is undoubtly one of the most important issues of that historical period. The aim of this thesis is to point out the sources, the process and consequences of this political crisis that is nowadays recognized as a "litmus paper" of the following "coup d'etat". First parts of the thesis analyse the collapse of the nondemocratic regime of the Slovak Republic as well as the framework of the political system of Czechoslovakia and its main features. The following part deals with circumstances of the general elections that took place in May 1946, elections, that resulted in a quite unexpected win of the Democratic Party in the Slovak part of Czechoslovakia. The political situation in Czechoslovakia deteriorated, as the year 1947 continued. It developed into a deep political crisis in autumn, preceded by a campaign against the alleged subversive complot against the state authority. The complot and the following crisis form the main theme of the thesis. These occasions deserve maximal attention because they explicitly show that the decisive politics was dominated by the bloc...

The "other side" was presented too through the introduction of the strategies and tactics of the Czechoslovak communist regime used against the exile community in Canada. Well-established Czechoslovak compatriots managed to react effectively to the changes in Czechoslovakia after 1948. Complex issues such as the assistance and support of the refugees and new immigrants were solved in the cooperation with other global Czechoslovak exile organizations. Lokální a národní identita v historických monografiích českých, moravských a haličských měst (1860 - 1900) / Local and National Identity in Historical Monographs on Bohemian, Moravian and Galician Towns (1860-1900)

Ira, Jaroslav January 2013 (has links)
The dissertation thesis deals with urban historical monographs that were published in 1860-1900 in Czech, German, and Polish language, and covered towns in Bohemia, Moravia, and Galicia. Adopting a broadly comparative perspective, the study focuses on the social dimension of the books through the lens of local and national identities. It presupposes that the urban histories essentially created local identities but at the same time makes a hypothesis that nationalization of society in the 19th century had significant impact on local urban history. The first chapter shows that the urban historiography in each of the regional-language spheres developed unevenly. One of the reasons was the different significance of towns and urban past in national thoughts. The following chapter analyses urban monographs as books. It poses questions about who wrote urban histories, with what intentions, and for what readership. It reveals that the books had essentially two roles: they served local purposes and at the same time they were integrated in the national programme The two remaining chapters deal with the analysis of historical representations. The fourth chapter compares urban histories with regard to periodization of urban past. It confirms that the national historical frame significantly influenced the ways...

Národní identita ve Francii a její role v politice Nicolase Sarkozyho / National identity in France and its role in the policy of Nicolas Sarkozy

Jedličková, Markéta January 2013 (has links)
Diploma thesis "National identity in France and its role in the politics of Nicolas Sarkozy" deals with national identity as a political instrument used by the former French president Nicolas Sarkozy during his five-year term (2007-2012). The main objective of this work is to prove that the national identity in his discourse served to increase his popularity or to obtain far-right voters and that Nicolas Sarkozy used this policy instrument throughout his mandate despite the fact that he officially turned away from it after a failed public debate on the subject in 2010. As methodological basis for research on the topic and achievement of the objectives "critical discourse analysis" was selected and also "analysis of metaphors" was used as its complement. In the theoretical part of the thesis some of the basic scientific findings that deal with the "nation", "identity" and the development and construction of "national identity" are presented and discussed . The research consists of three main chapters devoted to the analysis of Nicolas Sarkozys' speeches during the given period. Chapters are divided according to the changing role of national identity in Sarkozy's political discourse - from the campaign tool in 2007, through the recovery of this instrument in 2009 and 2010 to its insertion in the...

Obrazy nepřátel: Paměť, ekonomika a zločin / Images of Enemies: Memory, Economy and Crime

Slačálek, Ondřej January 2014 (has links)
The thesis deals with two images of the key "Others" in the Czech Republic in the second decade of its existence: communists and Romanies. It shows the characteristics that have been attributed to them, points out the attributes that were constructed as a threat, and informs about power relations into which they have been placed against the rest of society. The aim of the thesis is to show on what values society is constructed in discourses which create various forms of exclusion of these "Others". The introductory chapter summarizes the Czech relationship to the "Others": Germans, Russians, and Slovaks in the form of interpretative looks into key authors (especially Palacký, Kundera, and Pithart) Next chapter focuses on methodology and introduces the starting points of the analysis in the critical discourse analysis (especially Van Dijk, Wodak and Jäger) and in the foucaultian discourse analysis (especially Hansen). These starting points are combined with the concept of moral panic which is introduced in the third chapter which also discusses its problematic places. Analytical chapters are devoted to the election of president Václav Klaus and they also discuss the role of communists (February - June 2003) and society's reactions to ethnically contextualized violence in Šluknov Hook. They...

Dopad procesu europeizace na Španělsko / The Impact of the europeanisation process on Spain

Urban, Traian January 2014 (has links)
This dissertation analyses the europeanisation process and its impact on Spain. Its main aim is to find answers to the following questions - which Spanish institutions were mostly affected by Spain joining the European Communities/European Union and how successful was Spain in putting their political priorities on the top of the list of the European Union agenda. It analyses the main impacts and emphasizes the institutional changes that were put in place with the aim of fulfilling the European political requirements. Having done the analysis using the appropriate tools, this dissertation comes to a conclusion that the Spanish membership in the European Communities/European Union had an important impact on domestic institutional structure and the political system. It also shows that in certain aspects Spain was able to push its national interests and to influence the European integration process in the areas of its priority interests. On the other hand, this dissertation also comes to a conclusion, that with the growing number of member states and the impact of economic crisis Spain has lost its productive power that was characteristic for this country until the end of 2004. Islandský rybolov jako národní zájem a jeho prosazování v zahraniční politice / Icelandic fisheries as the national interest and its influence on the formation of the foreign policy

Tůmová, Kateřina January 2016 (has links)
Presented thesis analyzes the Icelandic fisheries as a national interest and its role in foreign policy. Importance of fisheries confirms the fact that in the first half of the twentieth century marine products accounted for over 90% of Iceland's exports and the Icelandic economy was fully dependent on one sector. Gradual diversification of the economy in the seventies, however, caused a decline in exports of fish products to one-third of total exports. The thesis assumes that the Icelandic fisheries have a significant impact on foreign policy, even though its economic importance is declining. The research is carried out on three historical events, such as the cod wars in the fifties and the seventies, mackerel dispute in 2010 and the withdrawal of Iceland's application to the EU in 2015. It would be expected that due to the economic ties and Icelandic membership in international organizations (NATO, EFTA) the Icelandic government would primarily seek peaceful solutions in international conflicts. However, it could be observed in the Icelandic case that due to the pressure of the domestic politics the government does not respond as it would be expected. According to the neoclassical realism the thesis should verify a hypothesis that in a case of security threat, the Icelandic government will give...
