Les nids d'abeille d’aluminium combinent légèreté et grande capacité d’absorption d'énergie. Ils sont alors de plus en plus utilisés dans les secteurs du transport (automobile, aéronautique …) pour contribuer conjointement à l’allègement structural et à la sécurité. Dans cette thèse, le comportement à l’écrasement des nids d'abeille est étudié en tenant compte de l'effet combiné de l'angle d'orientation dans le plan des cellules, de l’angle de chargement et de la vitesse de sollicitation, que la littérature ne relate pas. Un dispositif de chargement mixte compression/cisaillement est conçu pour mener l’étude expérimentale. L’analyse des résultats porte sur le pic initial d’effort, le plateau d’effort, ainsi que sur les modes de déformation. Les résultats montrent une augmentation de la résistance sous sollicitation dynamique dépendante de l’angle de chargement Ψ. Elle devient moins significative quand l’angle de chargement augmente jusqu’à atteindre un angle critique. Pour Ψ > Ψcritique, les réponses quasi-statiques sont même plus élevées que les réponses dynamiques. Une étude numérique est alors entreprise. Elle permet de comprendre ce phénomène qui est imputé aux mécanismes de déformation locaux des cellules. Les résultats numériques montrent également que l’effet de l’angle d’orientation □ dans le plan est plus prononcé sur la force tangentielle que sur la force normale, que cela influence également les modes d’effondrement et donc la réponse mécanique. Ces simulations numériques, couplées aux résultats expérimentaux, permettent alors de dissocier les composantes normale et tangentielle de la réponse des nids d’abeille et d’identifier les paramètres d'un critère macroscopique de résistance exprimé en fonction de la vitesse d'impact, de l'angle de chargement et de l'angle d'orientation dans le plan. Finalement, dans le but de réduire le coût des simulations numériques, un modèle élément fini (EF) réduit basé sur un critère de périodicité tenant compte de l'angle d'orientation dans le plan est proposé et son domaine de validité est évalué. / Aluminium honeycombs combine lightweight with an efficient energy absorption capability (specific energy). They are widely used as crash energy absorbing and protective structures in a wide range of transport applications (automotive, aircraft …) to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission. Reducing vehicle mass has however to be done while at least maintaining the same safety levels. In this thesis, the honeycomb behaviour is investigated under mixed shear-compression loadings taking into account the combined effect of the in-plane orientation angle and the impact velocity, which has not been deeply investigated in the literature. Experimental study based on an improvement of a mixed shear-compression loading device is realised. Experimental analysis focuses on the initial peak and average crushing forces as well as the deforming pattern modes. Comparing quasi-static and dynamic results, a dynamic enhancement depending of the loading angle Ψ is observed under mixed shear-compression loading until a critical loading angle (Ψcritical). Beyond, a negative enhancement is observed. Thus, a numerical study is carried out. The negative enhancement phenomenon is attributed to the collapse mechanisms which are affected by the loading angle Ψ. Numerical results also highlight that the in-plane orientation angle has an effect on the collapse mechanisms and consequently on the mechanical response. This effect is more pronounced on the tangential force than the normal force. The combined effect of the in-plane orientation angle and the loading angle is analysed on the three identified deforming pattern modes. Combining numerical and experimental results, the average crushing normal and shear forces are dissociated. Therefore, the parameters of a macroscopic yield criterion for the mixed shear-compression honeycomb behaviour depending of the impact velocity, the loading angle and the in-plane orientation angle are identified. Finally, in order to optimise the cost in CPU-time of the numerical simulation, a reduced FE model based on the periodicity procedure taking into account the in-plane orientation angle is proposed and its validity range is evaluated.

A framework for correlation and aggregation of security alerts in communication networks. A reasoning correlation and aggregation approach to detect multi-stage attack scenarios using elementary alerts generated by Network Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDS) for a global security perspective.Alserhani, Faeiz January 2011 (has links)
The tremendous increase in usage and complexity of modern communication and network systems connected to the Internet, places demands upon security management to protect organisations¿ sensitive data and resources from malicious intrusion. Malicious attacks by intruders and hackers exploit flaws and weakness points in deployed systems through several sophisticated techniques that cannot be prevented by traditional measures, such as user authentication, access controls and firewalls. Consequently, automated detection and timely response systems are urgently needed to detect abnormal activities by monitoring network traffic and system events. Network Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDS) and Network Intrusion Prevention Systems (NIPS) are technologies that inspect traffic and diagnose system behaviour to provide improved attack protection.
The current implementation of intrusion detection systems (commercial and open-source) lacks the scalability to support the massive increase in network speed, the emergence of new protocols and services. Multi-giga networks have become a standard installation posing the NIDS to be susceptible to resource exhaustion attacks. The research focuses on two distinct problems for the NIDS: missing alerts due to packet loss as a result of NIDS performance limitations; and the huge volumes of generated alerts by the NIDS overwhelming the security analyst which makes event observation tedious.
A methodology for analysing alerts using a proposed framework for alert correlation has been presented to provide the security operator with a global view of the security perspective. Missed alerts are recovered implicitly using a contextual technique to detect multi-stage attack scenarios. This is based on the assumption that the most serious intrusions consist of relevant steps that temporally ordered. The pre- and post- condition approach is used to identify the logical relations among low level alerts. The alerts are aggregated, verified using vulnerability modelling, and correlated to construct multi-stage attacks. A number of algorithms have been proposed in this research to support the functionality of our framework including: alert correlation, alert aggregation and graph reduction. These algorithms have been implemented in a tool called Multi-stage Attack Recognition System (MARS) consisting of a collection of integrated components. The system has been evaluated using a series of experiments and using different data sets i.e. publicly available datasets and data sets collected using real-life experiments. The results show that our approach can effectively detect multi-stage attacks. The false positive rates are reduced due to implementation of the vulnerability and target host information.

Gleichzeitig mit der weit verbreiteten Verwendung von traditionellen einkommens- oder konsumbasierten Maßnahmen zur Messung menschlicher Armut und Entwicklung gibt es seit den späten 70er Jahren zunehmendes Interesse an der Ökonomie des Glücks. Ebenso gibt es einen breiten Literaturbereich, der Indizes definiert und diskutiert hat, die „functionings" auf der Grundlage des „Capabilities Approach“ von Sen (1985) auf sich vereinen, welche auf einer Vielzahl von ideologischen Urteilen und Zielen zur Bestimmung des objektiven Wohlbefindens (1984), S. 187) beruhen. Beide Ansätze sind ähnlich in ihrer Prämisse, dass Einkommen oft eine unzureichende Determinante des Wohlbefindens ist – ein latenter Begriff, dass besser mit anderen, breiteren Definitionen- subjektiv oder objektiviert- erfasst wird. Beide Konzepte des Wohlbefindens wurden im Hinblick auf ihr Verhältnis zum Einkommen untersucht, und es wurde ein klarer Unterschied zwischen Einkommen und diesen beiden Maßnahmen festgestellt. Angesichts der relativen Neuheit und Komplexität beider Ansätze sind sie jedoch bislang selten in wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten zusammengebracht worden. Den dritten Aufsatz in dieser Arbeit ist ein Versuch, diese beiden Ansätze zu kombinieren und damit diese Lücke in der Literatur zu erfüllen. Subjektives Wohlbefinden wird mit verfügbaren Daten, die Zufriedenheit messen, festelegt, während das objektive Wohlbefinden durch einen Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) operationalisiert wird (Alkire & Santos, 2010). Der MPI ist einer der neuesten Versuche zur Messung des menschlichen Wohlbefindens im Rahmen des Capabilities Approach. Die Entwicklungspolitik erkennt ebenfalls graduell diese Maße als eine genauere Beschreibung des Wohlbefindens an, oder betrachtet diese zumindest als eine sinnvolle Ergänzung zu metrisch-monetären Maßen. Angesichts der vielen nationalen und internationalen Programme, die eine umfassende Verbesserung des menschlichen Wohlbefindens zum Ziel haben, gibt es erstaunlich wenige Arbeiten, die dazu beitragen können, die Auswirkungen eines bestimmten Programms auf das allgemeine Wohlbefinden und nicht nur auf eine bestimmte Dimension zu quantifizieren und zu bewerten. Der zweite Aufsatz in dieser Arbeit beschäftigt sich kritisch mit diesem Ansatz und betrachtet dabei den besonderen Fall Südafrikas. Aufgrund der steigenden Beliebtheit der mehrdimensionalen Armutsmaße besteht ein zunehmender Bedarf an einer Überprüfung ihrer grundlegenden Eigenschaft, ebendies zu erreichen. Eine wachsende Zahl von Forschern hat sich mit den Problemen beschäftigt, die ein zusammengesetztes Maß wie der MPI mit sich bringen kann und dessen Fähigkeit zur Messung multidimensionalen Wohlbefindens beeinträchtigen kann. Ein bestimmter Aspekt ist hierbei die Gewichtung der einzelnen Dimensionen und Indikatoren, um Armut über verschiedene Regionen hinweg zu definieren. Diese Dissertation schafft in Aufsatz eins eine Brücke zwischen den statistischen Methoden und den optimalen Gewichtungsschemata, die speziell zur Messung des multidimensionalen Wohlbefindens in verschiedenen Ländern genutzt werden können.

da rede de computadores, inspecionar o tráfego da rede em tempo real em busca de intrusos
para garantir uma rede confiável é um dos seus papéis. Porém a falta de integração com
os ativos da rede é um dos principais fatores que limitam sua atuação. O conceito de
Redes Definidas por Software visa diminuir a falta de integração entre os ativos de rede
devido a separação do plano de dados do plano de controle. Diante da limitação da
integração entre os ativos de redes e os Sistemas de Detecção e Prevenção de Intrusão,
o presente estudo propõe, desenvolve e demonstra o IDSFlow, um modelo de integração
de sistemas de detecção de intrusão em redes definidas por software. Para validar o
IDSFlow, foram realizados testes utilizando o Openflow, o Mininet, CPqD e o Snort. Os
resultados obtidos pelos algorítimos desenvolvidos e apresentados mostram a capacidade
de integração proposta, é possível verificar a viabilidade de utilizar as regras já existentes e
funcionais para o Snort assim como utilizar o histórico de utilização da rede para aumentar
a efetividade da detecção e dos bloqueios de intrusos. / Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems are fundamental to the network security,
to inspect the traffic in real time seeking intruders to ensure a reliable network is one of
it’s roles. However the lack of integration between the network equipments, is one of the
biggest factors to limit its operations. The concept of Software Defined Networks aims to
reduce the lack of integration among network assets due to the separation of the data plan
from the control plan. Given the limitation of integration between networks assets and
Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems, the present study proposes, develops and
demonstrates IDSFlow, an integration model of intrusion detection systems in softwaredefined
networks. To validate IDSFlow, tests were run using Openflow, Mininet, CPqD
and Snort. The results obtained by the algorithms developed and presented show the
proposed integration capacity, it is possible to verify the feasibility of using the existing
and functional rules for Snort as well as to use the network usage history to increase the
effectiveness of intrusion detection and block.

Écologie de la nidification de la buse pattue dans le Haut-Arctique et vulnérabilité des nids aux risques géomorphologiquesBeardsell, Andréanne 24 April 2018 (has links)
Les caractéristiques physiques d’un site de nidification peuvent influencer la probabilité qu’il soit utilisé et l’issue des tentatives de nidification. La buse pattue (Buteo lagopus) construit un imposant nid, qui peut être réutilisé plusieurs années, en bordure des falaises et des versants en Arctique. Ces habitats escarpés sont perturbés par des mouvements de masse pouvant entraîner la destruction de sites critiques pour la reproduction des buses. Nous avons d’abord examiné l’effet de plusieurs variables environnementales et de la réutilisation d’un nid sur la reproduction de la buse pattue. Ensuite, nous avons évalué la vulnérabilité des nids aux mouvements de masse et identifié les facteurs environnementaux associés à la persistance des nids. L’étude s’est déroulée à l’île Bylot (Nunavut) de 2007 à 2015. La probabilité qu’un nid soit utilisé par un couple augmentait avec la distance du nid actif le plus proche, la présence d’un surplomb au-dessus du nid et la densité des lemmings. Les nids accessibles aux renards et orientés vers le nord étaient associés à un moins bon succès reproducteur. Celui-ci était aussi positivement relié à la densité estivale de lemmings et négativement relié aux précipitations. Nos résultats suggèrent que les caractéristiques physiques du site de nidification offrant un microclimat favorable et une protection contre les prédateurs reflètent des sites de haute qualité. Le succès reproducteur était similaire entre les nouveaux nids et ceux préexistants, suggérant que la construction d’un nid n’entraîne pas de coût sur la reproduction à court terme. Parmi les 82 nids connus, près du tiers ont été détruits par des mouvements de masse et parmi ceux encore intacts, la majorité sont à risque modéré et haut de l’être. La probabilité de destruction était élevée pour les nids construits sur des sédiments non consolidés et positivement associée aux fortes précipitations. La hausse anticipée des précipitations due aux changements climatiques est susceptible d’augmenter la vulnérabilité des nids aux mouvements de masse ce qui pourrait ultimement réduire la disponibilité de sites appropriés pour la reproduction de ce rapace. / The physical characteristics of a nest site are thought to influence both its use by birds and the outcome of breeding attempts. The rough-legged hawk (Buteo lagopus) built a massive nest, which can be reused several years, along cliffs and slopes in the Arctic. These steep habitats are exposed to mass movements which may result in the destruction of critical sites for hawks. We examined the relationships between several environmental variables, patterns of nest reuse and reproductive output in rough-legged hawks. We also assessed nest vulnerability to mass movements and identified environmental factors associated with the persistence of nesting structures. The study was conducted on Bylot Island (Nunavut) from 2007 to 2015. Nest use probability increased with the nearest distance to breeding conspecific, with lemming density and for sheltered nest. Hawk nests inaccessible to foxes and facing away from the north were associated with a high reproductive success. Reproductive success was also positively related to summer lemming density and negatively related to rainfall. Our results suggest that nest site physical characteristics offering a favorable microclimate and protection from weather and predators provide the highest-quality site. Hawks that bred in a newly-built nest had similar success compared to those that used pre-existing nests, suggesting that building a new nest entailed no short term reproductive costs. Among 82 known nests, nearly a third were destroyed during the study and among those still intact, more than half are exposed to a moderate to high risk of being destroyed. The probability of nest destruction was high for nests built on unconsolidated sediments and positively associated with heavy rainfall. The anticipated increase in precipitation due to climate change is likely to increase the exposure of nest to mass movements which could ultimately reduce the availability of suitable sites for the reproduction of this raptor.

Etude expérimentale et numérique du comportement au gel et au dégel des enrobés bitumineux partiellement saturés / Experimental and numerical study of the behavior in freezing and in thawing conditions of partially saturated bituminous mixesVu, Van Thang 18 December 2017 (has links)
L’apparition massive de nids de poule sur chaussées bitumineuses a été observée en cours d’hiver sur de très courtes périodes de temps, caractérisées par l’alternance entre températures positives et fortement négatives accompagnée de précipitations pluvieuses. Ceci a conduit à rechercher un mécanisme spécifique de dégradation de couches d’enrobés bitumineux (EB) lié au comportement au gel des EB partiellement saturés en eau. Celui-ci a été étudié en laboratoire à partir d’essais à déformation libre ou empêchée, avec ajout de chaux pour certaines formules d’EB.Ces essais ont montré l’apparition de déformations de gonflement ou contraintes importantes induites lors du gel de l’eau interstitielle. D’autres essais utilisant l’IRM ont permis de visualiser le phénomène au sein du matériau. Sur la base de ces essais, nous proposons une loi de comportement thermoviscoélastique avec changement de phase pour EB. Un programme aux éléments finis a été développé (Free Fem++)pour intégrer cette loi dans le calcul de structures ; ce code couple les équations mécaniques et de diffusion de la chaleur prenant également en compte le changement de phase à travers la chaleur latente de solidification de l’eau interstitielle.Après validation du logiciel, celui-ci a été appliqué au calcul de structures bitumineuses bicouches représentatives des couches supérieures d’une chaussée. Les résultats mettent alors en évidence l’apparition de contraintes d’arrachement élevées à l’interface entre couches générées par le gel,susceptibles d’expliquer la formation de nids de poule. Un essai de laboratoire sur bicouche a confirmé la fragilisation de l’interface induite dès le premier cycle de gel. / Massive development of potholes occurring in bituminous pavements was observed during winters over short time laps characterized by temperature alternating between positive and highly negative values along with rainfalls. This led us to seek for a specific mechanism of degradation of asphalt concrete (AC) layers, related to the behavior of partially saturated AC subjected to freeze. Two types of laboratory tests were performed under traction free and restrained strain conditions to study the behavior of AC within this context, incorporating lime additive in some mix design formulations. These tests showed the development of large swelling strains or stresses induced by the phase change of pore water into ice. Additional tests using MRI allowed us to visualize this phenomenon from inside the material specimens. Based on these tests, we developed a thermoviscoelastic constitutive law including phase change for partially saturated AC. A Finite Element (FE) program was implemented (FreeFem++) to introduce the developed law instructural calculations; this FE code handles the coupling between mechanics and the heat equation, also taking into account the phase change through the latent heat of crystallization of pore water. After validating the software, this numerical tool was utilized to compute the response of bilayer bituminous structures representative of the upper layers of a pavement. The results obtained show the development of highfrost-induced pull-out stresses located at the interface between the layers, likely to explain the formation of potholes. A test carried out on a bilayer sample confirmed the weakening of the interface right after the first frost cycle.

Memory Efficient Regular Expression Pattern Matching Architecture For Network Intrusion Detection SystemsKumar, Pawan 08 1900 (has links) (PDF)
The rampant growth of the Internet has been coupled with an equivalent growth in cyber crime over the Internet. With our increased reliance on the Internet for commerce, social networking, information acquisition, and information exchange, intruders have found financial, political, and military motives for their actions. Network Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDSs) intercept the traffic at an organization’s periphery and try to detect intrusion attempts. Signature-based NIDSs compare the packet to a signature database consisting of known attacks and malicious packet fingerprints. The signatures use regular expressions to model these intrusion activities.
This thesis presents a memory efficient pattern matching system for the class of regular expressions appearing frequently in the NIDS signatures. Proposed Cascaded Automata Architecture is based on two stage automata. The first stage recognizes the sub-strings and character classes present in the regular expression. The second stage consumes symbol generated by the first stage upon receiving input traffic symbols. The basic idea is to utilize the research done on string matching problem for regular expression pattern matching. We formally model the class of regular expressions mostly found in NIDS signatures. The challenges involved in using string matching algorithms for regular expression matching has been presented. We introduce length-bound transitions, counter-based states, and associated counter arrays in the second stage automata to address these challenges. The system uses length information along with counter arrays to keep track of overlapped sub-strings and character class based transition. We present efficient implementation techniques for counter arrays. The evaluation of the architecture on practical expressions from Snort rule set showed compression in number of states between 50% to 85%. Because of its smaller memory footprint, our solution is suitable for both software based implementations on network chips as well as FPGA based designs.
