Analýza potřeb rekreačních uživatelů drog na Mělnicku / Recreational Users Needs Analysis in Melnik Region

Přádová, Karolína January 2015 (has links)
Title: Analysis of need of recreational drug users in Melnik Region Abstract Prevalence of drug using among those dance events visitors in the country increases steadily throughout life (Petroš Zábranský, 2003 Mravčík, Škařupová, Orlíková, 2008). Increase is also the acceptability of the use of some drugs, especially cannabis (Blahut, 2014). The research which was designed to determinate the prevalence of drug using among members of different musical subcultures in the district of Melnik, that number of recreational drug users in the Mělník region relatively high. 98 % of respondents (194 respondents) said that at least once in their life used drugs recreationally (Přádova, 2013). A group of recreational users compared to other types of drug users is however greatly neglected. Interventions are insufficient for a large percentage of recreational users, unavailable or about it users do not even know (Mravčík et al, 2008). People tend to enjoy the addictive substances in a fun environment. There is however missing feedback from these users which would helpful to develop appropriate and effective interventions. The aim is to identify and analyze the needs of recreational users on Mělník. The primary objective is to answer the basic questions of needs, wishes and expectations of potential users of...

“House and Techno Broke Them Barriers Down”: Exploring Exclusion through Diversity in Berlin’s Electronic Dance Music Nightclubs

Rodgers, Naomi Alice January 2015 (has links)
Berlin is heralded worldwide as being a city that is open, innovative and diverse: a true multicultural metropolis. Music plays a central role in the city’s claim to this title. Go to any one of Berlin’s many notorious alternative nightclubs and you will hear techno, house and electronic dance music blasting out to hoards of enthusiastic partygoers. Many of these clubs and their participants claim that these parties represent diversity, acceptance, equality and tolerance: Spaces within which social divisions are suspended, difference is overcome and people are united. This ubiquitous discursive assertion is referred to in this thesis as a “diversity discourse”. This “diversity discourse” will be deconstructed and situated within a wider political context, with a specific focus on perceptions of race, ethnicity, sexuality and gender. Engaging with theories of intersectionality, post-colonial theory (looking specifically at Jasbir Puar’s important work on homonationalism) and employing qualitative methods such as in-depth interviews and autoethnographic inquiry, it will be argued that the “diversity discourse” works as a mask to conceal a reality of social segregation. Far from being sites of equality and diversity, it will be suggested that access to these nightclubs is premised on the possession of societal privilege. That being said, it will also be argued that research into EDM nightclub participation refrain from viewing these clubs within a binary framework of “good” or “bad”; Rather, they should be seen as complex sites of ambivalence, within which multiple identities are acted out and explored. The project contributes to the current body of work within the (post-) discipline of intersectional gender studies, arguing for the need for theorisations in the field to encompass notions of intersecting privilege and disadvantage.

Réguler les sonorités de l’espace public nocturne : le cas d’un quartier parisien en gentrification, Oberkampf / Noise control in public space at night : a case study of Oberkampf, a gentrifying Parisian neighbourhood

Defrance, Camille Adrien 31 January 2017 (has links)
This study deals with the different modes of noise control in a bustling neighbourhood of historical Paris city centre, busy by day and night, and with its resident’s perception of noise. Our definition of noise is restricted to human and non mechanical sound sources. Our analysis is concerned both with public and private space related arrangements. This thesis research started as a campaign against nighttime noise pollution was brought onto Paris political agenda. Our work comes up within a debate on city centre planning, between urban attractivity and residential comfort issues, which could be generalised to any lively nightlife areas attracting young crowds in globalised cities. We offer to examine the anti-noise pollution policy at the city level, and more specifically at the level of a few bustling streets, and to analyse the way the residents of these streets react to their sound environment. With regards to the complexity of the sound phenomenon and because of the specificity of the fieldwork, we have opted for a cross-circular approach at the intersection between urbanism, public action sociology, gentrification studies, social history, anthropology and psychoacoutics. Our methodology also relied on a number of tools such as a set of interviews with different local agents (residents, shopkeepers, elected representatives, etc.), archival research and micro-sociological observations.

Prevence sexuálního násilí v prostředí noční zábavy: zhodnocení školení zaměstnanců nočních podniků z pohledu proškolených účastníků / Prevention of Sexual Violence in Nightlife Setting: An Evaluation of the Nightlife Staff Training from the Trainees' Perspective

Šťastná, Barbora January 2019 (has links)
Background: The nightlife environment is a frequent place of the sexual violence. It happens mainly because of the atmosphere and environment in the clubs, which are sexualized and characterized by alcohol consumption or other psychoactive substances. In the Czech Republic, nobody has been systematically involved in the prevention of sexual violence by this time. Since the end of 2017, the Department of Addictology has become a partner of the project Stop-SV - Stop Sexual Violence, which is dedicated to staff training in the clubs. Aims: The primary aim is to evaluate the training program by the club staff who attended the Stop-SV training. Methodology: The thesis is based on qualitative research methodology. Respondents were selected as simple random sampling. The selection criterion was the condition of participation in the Stop-SV training as the club staff. The research sample consisted of 11 respondents - 5 women and 6 men, 28 years of average age and on the positions as bar staff, security, managers, nightlife service worker, DJ, photographer. The data were analyzed using open and axial coding methods of the grounded theory. Results: The results are divided into three categories that correspond to research questions - evaluation of methodology and lecturers, evaluation of use in their own...

Customer Experience and its Implication for Value Creation within the Night-Time Economy / Kundupplevelse och dess innebörd för värdeskapande inom nattlivet

Lewerentz, Eric January 2021 (has links)
The consumer behaviour is adapting within industries due to new technologies such as smart phones. As consumer behaviour changes so do companies by adapting their way of engaging and interacting with their customers. This provides potential to innovate new service offerings. Successfully launching new services which provide value for the customer is faced with risk of failure. To mitigate risks associated with failure, a clear understanding of the customer can aid with understanding what value a service offering should provide to be successfully adopted by the market. Due to customer experience being unique for each individual, personalization is a technique which could be used within software to improve the customer experience. Challenges could arise in terms of scarcity of data which can impact the performance negatively of a data driven algorithm. However, veracity is another aspect of data known to be associated with the potential to improve performance. Based on these two issues, this study conducted a sequential mixed methods study consisting of an etnographic study on Instagram to better understand the customer experience within nightlife. Furthermore, the netnographic study enabled the construction of a gold standard, which were used while conducting a GSDMM topic modelling experiment with the purpose to evaluate what topics required further pre-processing due to high ambiguity of the text content. Findings from the netnographic study and its implication for customer experience was discussed from the point of view of a software service offering. This study suggests software offerings within nightlife to improve customer experience during the pre-purchasing phase by considering aspects related to age, interests in atmosphere, type of activity, preferred music genres, spending time with friends or facilitating escapism. The discussed service has negligible control during the post-purchasing stage suggesting that the firm could innovate controlled touchpoints, such experiences can be related to anticipation, joy, celebration, social adventures, memory of previous nights out (stories), current music preferences or new desires occurring spontaneously. Upon adopting a service dominant logic, this study suggests that software services can facilitate the customer experience within nightlife through co-creation, since with the proper usage of data, network effects could occur between the customer and an organizer or venue within nightlife, but also between customer to customer. A future study is proposed to investigate how the coordination could be conducted through crowd-sourced based interactions where the software functions as an overseer of a multi-actor setting to provide further insights regarding how such coordination impacts the co-creation of value.

[en] BATS AND POLICEMEN: NIGHT WATCH AND URBAN SURVEILLANCE IN RIO DE JANEIRO (1885-1912) / [pt] MORCEGOS E POLICIAIS: GUARDA NOTURNA E VIGILÂNCIA URBANA NO RIO DE JANEIRO (1885-1912)

PEDRO GUIMARAES MARQUES 03 March 2020 (has links)
[en] This dissertation explores the development process of night surveillance service in Rio de Janeiro between 1885 and 1912. During that time, marked by the transition from the Empire to the Republic, the nightlife of the city suffered from mutations due to its expansion and the increasing occupation of the urban space. The patrolling police service of the night watches, paid by neighbors and merchants, which spread throughout the Atlantic world with different names since the XVIII century, was studied as an integral part in the development of modern police forces in South American and European countries. In dialog with the historiography that studies them, this dissertation aims to understand the place of the carioca night watch in the process that took place in Rio, from the analysis of police archives, press and literature. Far from being analyzed as conflicting to the process of building the state monopoly of public security forces, this analysis is intended to comprehend the night watch as a constituent part of this phenomenon in the republican period, of its ambiguities and disputes around the daily construction of authority.

Hawrysh, Michael M. 06 1900 (has links)
At the beginning of the 1920s, the city of Montreal found itself in a rather unique situation. At the time, the United States and every Canadian province with the exception of Quebec had adopted prohibition of alcohol. Yet even in Quebec, about half of the population of the province was under local prohibitions (voted at the municipal level) since the beginning of the 20th century, prohibitions which persisted for the most part throughout the period under study. During this era of prohibition of alcohol in North America, Montreal was the largest city, and one of the only on the continent, not under prohibition. It was also the city living under the most liberal alcohol laws on both sides of 49th parallel thanks to the creation of the Quebec Liquor Commission (QLC), the first system of government control of alcohol in North America. Thus, Montreal became a rare oasis in a continent left parched by prohibition and the largest guinea pig of the government control model. This thesis examines the impacts of this conjuncture on the development of the city, specifically of its tourism industry, its nightlife, and its reputation. The thesis begins with a contextualization of prohibition in the United States, in Canada and in Quebec in order to reveal the uniqueness of Montréal during this period. Next, the rapid expansion of « liquor tourism » as well as the city’s nightlife, both legal and illicit, are explored. Lastly, this thesis explores the impact that this conjuncture had on the construction of the city’s reputation throughout the writings of anti- and pro-prohibitionists, who propagated both idealised and demonised views of the city, as well as the documents associated with the tourism boom, such as songs, tourist guides and travel writing, which presented a more romanticized vision of the city as a festive refuge from prohibition. Despite their differences, these three visions all associated Montreal with liberty, whether it is one that is well managed by the government, dangerous and out of control, or emancipating. Thus, through the era of prohibition and the phenomenon of liquor tourism, Montreal came to be known as an “open” city, in both a positive and a negative sense.

Diasporic identification and gender construction in the Caribbean nightlife of Paris / Identification diasporique et construction de genre dans la vie nocturne antillaise de Paris

Rossignoli, Sabina 05 July 2013 (has links)
This thesis explores the forms of identification adopted by French Caribbean clubbers in the Parisian region in relation to the issues of gender and diaspora. My hypothesis is that clubbing is a cultural space that fosters diasporic identities and transnational socialities. Methodologically the thesis is the result of fourteen months of participant observation in Paris and one in Martinique. First I have investigated the human geographies of Antillean clubs in the banlieues of Paris by analyzing in detail the residential patterns and sense of class belonging of my informants. Next I have inscribed the night-time leisure practices in the migration patterns of these informants. I argue that the transnational character of Caribbean nightlife is a testimony to relevant diasporic constructions that have not previously been explored. However my thesis underlines how these constructions were not unproblematic for female participants. The second part of the thesis focuses on the specific transnational and diasporic character of zouk, a French Caribbean music genre. I conclude having investigated issues of gender inequality in clubs and the strategies women employ in order to participate in the dancehall scene.
