The effect of head injury on vestibular function an electronystagmographic study.Lim, Manuel. G. January 1963 (has links)
A disturbed mind will seek a solution. The desire to learn the How’s, What’s and Why’s of a problem prompted the author to search for an answer to this problem. In recent years an increasing number of patients presenting vestibular symptoms, particularly postural vertigo, after head. Injury has been observed. Various opinions have been expressed regarding the frequency of occurrence of vestibular symptoms, the types of positional nystagmus and the probable sites of lesions resulting from head trauma. However, there has been no uniformity of opinion. The purpose of the present investigation is to study the effects of head injury on vestibular function.

The role of the temporal lobe in vestibular function.Wong, John. January 1963 (has links)
In this thesis, an attempt is made to study the role of the temporal lobe in vestibular function. Vestibular tests were performed on 19 normal adults which made up the control group. 9 Seizure Patients with temporal lobe lesions were also tested. It is thought that lesions of the temporal lobe may produce directional preponderance of nystagmus to calorie stimulation on the ipsilateral side. This means that the homolateral labyrinth is more sensitive to hot water and the contralateral labyrinth to cold water stimulation. In the control series of 19 cases, 63 percent showed directional preponderance in more than two parameters; the parameters used being: total time, latent period, total beats, total amplitude and maximum slow speed. In the 9 temporal lobe cases tested, 5 showed directional preponderance in more than two parameters.

Investigation on spontaneous and positional nystagmus: an electronystagmographic study.Tarantino, Leopold. January 1965 (has links)
The study of the pathogenesis and localization of vestibular and related pathology is in its developmental stage now. Some fascinating and outstanding work has been done in the last few years which has been of great help in clinical otoneurology. However, very few of the problems appear to be clear. As in any other developing branch of medicine, here too, there is a fair amount of controversy and divergent opinions. [...]

Role of efferent innervation on latency of cochlear potentials: a study with strychnine.Dayal, Vijay S. January 1966 (has links)
The role of the auditory efferent innervation is a subject of great current interest. Its function has been grossly defined as being inhibitory in nature. Detailed work as to its role and especially the role of the homolateral component of the Olivocochlear Bundle is under speculation and investigation by many workers. [...]
