Phase-shifting projected fringe profilometry (PSPFP) is powerful for 3D profile measurements. Test and analysis for accuracy of PSPFP is presented. A novel scheme to identify the accuracy of evaluated phases is propsed as well. This test scheme can be applied to any kind of measurements which use fringe projection techniques.

Micropolarizer Phase-shifting Array For Use In Dynamic Interferometry

This work examines a novel method of dynamic single frame interferometry. In this dynamic approach to phase shifting measurements, steps are taken to combat performance degradation due to environmental factors such as air turbulence and vibration. We explore the system functionality and performance, and examine some of the limiting factors using this technique such as effects due to imperfect system components, irradiance variations and sensitivity of the instrument accuracy based on calculation methodology. We present the errors associated with these various aspects of the system and show the majority cause phase calculation errors less than 0.005λ P-V to the calculated wavefront. This new approach involves the placement of a micropolarizer phase-shifting array directly onto a CCD camera which allows the construction of a dynamic single frame interferometric system. Hardware and manufacturing preparations such as inspection, positioning and alignment are discussed. Experimental results of system performance are combined with mathematical simulations to provide a performance baseline. We present experimental results showing the effects of averaging on measurement data, which results in a reduction of fringe print-through errors associated with a combination of many of the system error sources.

The system has been integrated into a telemetry transmitter and has shown superior performance to traditional methods of antennae switching. The unit is self-correcting to maintain maximum RF power at the desired antenna port(s) across a dynamic mission environment. Due to its low loss and high reliability, this method of antennae switching provides a robust RF link.

Application of two frequency fringe pattern for phase-shifting projected fringe profilometry

A novel accurate calibration-based phase-shifting projected fringe profilometry (Calibration-based PSPFP) for finding the absolute shape of objects is proposed. In addition to a tremendous savings in time, the benefits of using Calibration-based PSPFP also include greatly reduced environmental vulnerability. Since Calibration-based PSPFP employs a sinusoidal fringe pattern to perform the phase-shifting algorithm, the quality and accuracy of the sinusoidal fringe pattern becomes critical. To evaluate the performance of this measurement scheme and reduce the phase error caused by projected fringes, fabrication of various digital sinusoidal fringe patterns is necessary. Thus, we propose a method to fabricate various digital patterns. Application of a 2-D fringe pattern for Calibration-based PSPFP is proposed as well.

Therefore, the available spread spectrum code set is expanded. It is theoretically proved that there are some advantages in using phase-shifting sequences instead of the conventional msequences or GOLD-sequences in spread spectrum communication system.

Analysis of an induction regulator for power flow control in electric power transmission systems

<p>Controlling the power flow in transmission systems has recently gained increased interest. The difficulties of building new lines and the pressure of having a high utilization of existing assets, makes the flexibility of grid systems increasingly important.</p><p>This master thesis work investigates induction regulators as control devices for active power flow in a transmission system. A small change in angle of the rotor affects both the amplitude and the phase of the voltage. The magnetic coupling in the induction regulator can be controlled by changing the permeability of a thermo magnetic material such as gadolinium and can hence give a second independent controlling parameter. An analytical model and calculations in the</p><p>FEM software AceTripleC together with Matlab, is used to simulate the influence of the regulators connected to a simple grid in case1, a 400 kV scenario and case 2, a 45 kV scenario.</p><p>The analysis was carried out on a small transmission system consisting of two parallel transmission lines connected to source and load. The induction regulators are connected to one of the parallel transmission lines. The regulators modelled in case 1 must be able to control the active power flow in the regulated line to vary between 50 and 150 % of the original power flow through this line.</p><p>This shall be done over a range of 0 to 800 MW transmitted power. The regulators modelled in case 2 must be able to control the active power flow in</p><p>the regulated line to vary between 0 and 30 MW, if this does not cause the power flow in the parallel line to exceed 30 MW. This shall be done over a range of 0 to</p><p>50 MW transmitted power.</p><p>The regulators are designed as small and inexpensive as possible while still fulfilling requirements regarding the active power flow controllability in the grid, current density in windings and maximum flux density in core and gap.</p><p>The results indicate that the size of the 400 kV solution has to be reduced to become competitive whereas for the 45 kV solution the relative difference to existing solution is smaller. Advantages with the proposed design over a phase shifting transformer are mainly a simpler winding scheme and the absence of a tap changer.</p>
