Resume My thesis, entitled "Czechoslovak Ocean Shipping" introduces basic information about the existence of this company. The emphasis is not only on the historical development of the corporation but mainly on the complex survey of the firm and its cooperative work with the People's Republic of China. In addition, this paper includes various types of cultural reference to seamans' lives and their different habits, traditions and legends. This thesis is divided into three thematic units, each of which contains some particular chapters and detailed subheadings. In the first part, a brief history is outlined and an establishment with the upcoming termination of the company. The history is based mainly on the businesslike progress of the firm, not on the historical background between the Czechoslovak Republic and the People's Republic of China, or the economical and political situations in both of these countries. Basic information is given which is necessary to create a complete picture of the whole corporation. In the next section, technical and descriptive information about the commercial cargo ships is detailed. This thesis focuses on capacity potential and transportation workload of the most attractive part of Orlík dam in terms of recreational navigation. The thesis deals with area of Orlík dam between Trhovky and Podskalí. The objective of this thesis is assessment of actual recreational use of Orlík dam for recreational navigation, infrastructure, and potential capacity in connection with investment of the European Union into navigability of river Vltava.

The diploma thesis analyzes evolution of shipping on Elbe in 1948 -- 1964. It is focused especially on position of Elbe in state transport infrastructure. It evaluates Czechoslovakian external shipping on Elbe, projects for navigations on Elbe and innovations in shipping on Elbe. It deals with nationalization of company Československá plavba labská, creation of monopole and connection of Československá plavba labská and Československá plavba oderská. Part of work is focused on comparison of performance and other indicators of Československá plavba labsko-oderská and Československá plavba dunajská and comparison of goods transferred by ship, rail and road transport. Work also deals with evolution of structure of transported goods and reasons for its change.

The design of an underwater observation vessel is the main objective during the thesis. An innovative approach will be applied in terms of modernization and design of the chosen topic. This work shows the author‘s creativity and ability to execute the required task in a specific time frame based on the appropriate level for a thesis. It reveals the steps that lead to an aesthetically balanced object from a functional product. Ergonomic standards and contemporary materials have been one of the basic knowledge.

This diploma thesis deals with feasibility study of a cruise infrastructure. In the first part is explained principle of feasibility study and its recommended outline. Selected parts of feasibility study are then commented especially financial and economic analysis. This part is followed by explanation of some main terms and description of main differences of evaluating economic effectivity of investment between freighter and cruise. Within the scope of this thesis was also processed a feasibility study dealing with specific investment goal prolongation of navigability of Baťa Canal. The study is divided into individual chapters according to the recommended curriculum. Each chapter deals with different issues related to the investment plan. All findings and recommendations of the study are summarized in the final evaluation.

The main target of the work is to extend our current knowledge concerning history of the Czechoslovak Ocean Shipping company during the period from the company's founding in 1959 until year 1989. The main basis for this task fulfillment there are interviews with former Czechoslovak sailors realized with help of the oral history method. Beside this, the paper is supported also by archive materials. The text reflects certain specificity of the topic (maritime business running in the inland country, in addition country ruled by non-democratic regime) and it aims to the company's history; but its main part is concentrated on the sailors' living conditions. It processes direct testimonies about sailors' life and work on Czechoslovak ships; there are included topics as travelling, emigration, direct experience with communist regime on ships, private life of sailors, and their father and husband role. The author does not propose definite conclusions; her effort is aimed to see the topic from various points of view. Sailors are not portrayed as exceptional people but as men whose meaning of life was work on the sea. And this fact principally influenced their lives as well as lives of their families.

This final thesis deals with cruises and cruise line industry in general. The first chapter describes cruises and highlights their particulars. The second chapter analyzes all the available statistics (secondary data) that depict the role of cruise line industry in the field of tourism (fleet, cruise lines, passengers, destinations, ports, economic impact). As for the primary research, I created a questionnaire to determine the requirements of respondents for an ideal cruise. I have conducted a mystery shopping, together with a personal interview with an employee of an travel agent's to analyze the state of the market and the sale of cruises both in Czech and Slovak Republic. The last chapter discusses the current and future trends in the cruise industry. The results of this thesis confirm the hypothesis that Czech Republic and Slovakia have the potential to attract customers and bring potential customers.

DISERTAČNÍ PRÁCE ABSTRACT ČESKOSLOVENSKÁ NÁMOŘNÍ PLAVBA, 1948-1989 CZECHOSLOVAK OCEAN SHIPPING, 1948-1989 2016 Lenka Krátká This work is concentrated on the topic of establishment and development of the Czechoslovak ocean shipping in the period 1948-1989. The theme is presented with using a large number of primary archive sources and relevant secondary literature. In addition, the text offers an insight into the topic through the memoirs of former Czechoslovak seafarers collected with the use of oral history method. The primary aim of this work is to capture the history of the Czechoslovak ocean shipping in a broader context of political, economic, and foreign policy development of Czechoslovakia in the given period. A key moment for founding a merchant fleet represented the year 1948, the communist coup d'état respectively, when the country came into the sphere of the Soviet Union's influence and transformed its economy into a centrally planned one with the absence of market principles. These specific circumstances enabled to develop a transport sector which Czechoslovakia did not have either natural conditions, or practical experience with. v anglickém jazyce: This thesis mainly analyzes the five-part novel Gargantua and Pantagruel written by the French author Francois Rabelais. Emphasis is based particularly on an inclusion of Rabelais's work in historical and literary context of the period of transformation between medieval and Renaissance society. More specifically, it deals with the author's humanist opinion and his critique of contemporary society, which is the main line of the work itself. The aim of our thesis is especially an attempt to outline the various possible meanings of the terms « road or path » and « stranger » in Rabelais's work and explain the role of these thematic concepts in the author's concept of criticism of society.
