Pojetí prostoru v postmoderní próze vzhledem k "vnitřní krajině" postav / Approaches to the cathegory of space in postmodern fiction in relation to the "inner landscapes" of charactersMacháčková, Klára January 2017 (has links)
This diploma thesis focuses primarily on the relation between inner and outer landscape in postmodern fiction, i.e. on specific concepts of individual fictional spaces and the ways in which they resonate with the protagonists' means of perception. As a particular starting point, these four works are used: Trýznivé město by D. Hodrová, Pravěk a jiné časy by O. Tokarczuková, Země vod by G. Swift and prose collections Fikce and Alef by J. L. Borges. In the diploma thesis, the term "inner landscape" refers to a spectrum of concepts connected with the theme of subjective perception, among which the most important are topics of recollection and descending into deeper layers of the space - i.e. to the symbolical or mythical layer - and, thus, deeper to understanding one's identity. Therefore, a crucial part of the diploma thesis is to grasp characteristic features of individual fictional worlds and to interpret them in relation to perception and identity of characters. This interpretation is based on the definition of individual topoi and dominants as well as on the presupposition of the vertical structure of the works which implies merging of different time, space and conceptual levels. In the diploma thesis, the dynamic aspect is accentuated so the attention is paid to the protagonists' moving through... Read more

Humor a kritika v díle Pantaleón a jeho ženská rota Maria VargaseLlosy / Humour and critique in Pantaleón y las visitadoras from Mario Vargas LlosaFrimlová, Petra January 2015 (has links)
OF THE THESIS: The novel Captain Pantoja and the Special Service introduces the second period of Mario Vargas Llosa's literary production, which is caracterized by the simplification of the narration and the discovery of humour. The thesis focuses on the formal and thematic analysis of the novel with the objective to prove that despite the novel is in general humorous and parodic, there could be found some constant topics, known to the readers from Llosa's previous novels, which he had always treated very critically, and he also did so in this erotic and humorous work. Therefore, apart from the analysis of humour the thesis also examines the critical approach to the social problems present in the novel. The analysis also shows that the narration is slightly simplified in comparison to the author's formers works, but it still perfectly demonstrates the unconventional narrative techniques, which Vargas Llosa has used since the 1960's, since the period of the new hispano-american novel. KEY WORDS: Mario Vargas Llosa, Captain Pantoja and the Special Service, The Time of the Hero, The Green House, Latin American boom, Hispano-American new novel, total novel, experimental narrative techniques, types of humour and irony, humorous prose, parody, erotic novel, libertine prose, rainforest, criticism of the... Prostor Ostravy v současné české literatuře / The Space of the City of Ostrava in Contemporary Czech Prose FictionJanáková, Bára January 2018 (has links)
We have been examinining the image of Ostrava on prose of six authors after 1989. Our aim was to find the function of such space in narrative - it can only play role of a scenery (Slawińsky term), sometimes more functions are added, which empasizes the importance of region in literature according to Urbanová: each region can become a theme or be transposed into author ́s aesthetic sense, influence creative method and become an inspiration in various ways. We have also evaluated how much the protagonists identify themselves with the urban space of Ostrava. This has been based on phenomenological approach of Norberg- Schultz Genius loci. In conclusion we have tried to summarize which themes regarding Ostrava become common for examined authors, whether they create a coherent literary utterance about Ostrava, which has similarities with Todorov ́s petersburg text of russian literature.

Proměny domu (analýza domu v portugalském románu 20. století) / Transformations of the Concept of House (An Analysis of the House in the 20th Century Portuguese Novel)Válová, Karolina January 2018 (has links)
The dissertation under the title Transformations of the Concept of House (An Analysis of the House in the 20th Century Portuguese Novel) endeavours to map the concept, portrayal and primarily the transformations of the space of a house, which is at the same time interpreted as an archetypical space universal in the 20th century Portuguese novel. Following the introduction and a summary of various literary theory approaches to the analysis of a house, Chapter 2 focuses in particular on a topological analysis and an analysis of the symbolic space. The topos of the house is fundamental for thematology and literary topology. A house, representing either a dwelling place, a temporary refuge or a home, is an essential space in the majority of literary stories; it is a certain static counterpart to a literary character, it forms their background or represents an aim to which they are heading. Its organization may reflect a character's nature or emphasize a significant contradiction between the space and the human being inhabiting it. As the role, function, form and significance of a literary character and of other constitutive elements of a narrative text were transformed in the course of the 20th century, the concept of the space of a house also underwent significant changes. Chapter 3 of the... Read more
