After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the area of the former German Democratic Republic (GDR) experienced a short economic and politic transformation that resulted in reunification with the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG). The original optimistic expectations of a fast and significant catching-up effect, however, soon disappeared. Even if enormously supported by West Germany, twenty years after German reunification the region has not achieved much better economic advance than the economically most successful countries in the middle and eastern part of Europe. The paper analyses the real state of the eastern German economy and its development in the last 20 years using three basic problem areas: industrial base, migration streams from the eastern to the western part of Germany and the labour market. During the course of the last 20 years, these areas has belonged to the most visible economic problems of the eastern part of Germany.

The major aim of the thesis was to analyze, what was the influence of public (economic) policy in transition on the creation of rules in the Czech Republic. Who created the policy? How was the policy conducted? What was the role of the rules? What was the international context in that era? What was the influence of these external factors on the development in the Czech Republic. Other goals of the thesis dealt with the following: availability of suitable tools to analyze transition; key assumptions of public policy; rule making; the role of rule makers. The thesis does not attempt to describe all relevant approaches from modern economic theory that would be useful to analyze the transition processes. The thesis uses a selection of tools that can help to analyze institutions and rules in society from another view, than does standard legal theory or political science. The thesis maps and analyzes the development of landed property on the territory of the contemporary Czech Republic since 1918 until the beginning of the 21st century. A special attention is devoted to the role and interference of the state into the development of this field. An essential part of the text comprises an introduction to the proprietary rights. The thesis presents a structural insight into the landed property system and its significance not just for the actual legal development on the territory of the contemporary Czech Republic but also for the ability to meet the basic existential needs of people living on this territory during particular, more or less historically important time periods. In more detail, it deals with the development of landed property after 1918, 1948 and 1989. It examines the issues of land reforms, socialization period and agrarian collectivization as well as the more recent ones. These include the process of restitution and privatization of landed property. Besides analyzing the contemporary legislation de lege lata, the author also addresses the proposals de lege ferenda. This diploma thesis examines political risks and long-term investments and specifically focuses on a case study of the Odessa Port Plant. The aim of the thesis is to assess the investment opportunity into this enterprise in terms of political risks within the privatization process planned to take place in 2016. The literature review presents different theoretical approaches to political risk, briefly describes its history and place in theoretical foundations of risk management and offers means of dealing with political risk in practice. The key global trends and sources of political risks are characterized in this part, which also introduces theoretical bases of political risk analysis. The main part of the thesis describes the subject of privatization in the context of its importance to the state, its market position and environmental issues it arises. Then the investor risk profile is outlined and the political risk analysis is carried out. Finally, analysis results are synthesized in a summary, which includes conclusive recommendations on the investment considering investor's risk approach.

The thesis deals with statistic analysis of long term trends in production and structural indicators in agriculture in Vysocina district during the years 2000 to 2015. Theoretical part explains agriculture development, characteristics of production factors, subsidies and also land resources of the Czech Republic. The practical part of the thesis concentrates on the most significant crops in the district and on the yields of those crops. Further more, the thesis focuses on the most significant categories of farm animals. The thesis concentrates on a specific farm which is analyzed the same way. On the basis of statistical methods there are found point and interval forecasts of farm animals state and also forecasts of structural and production indicators. The resulting indicators characterize the development in Vysocina district and its future considering current trends. The results of the thesis are summarized into a perspectives of agriculture development in Vysocina district and into recommendations for the selected farm. The data for the thesis were gathered from the yearbooks of the Czech Statistical Office, definitive data of harvest of agriculture crops for respective years, and farmer portal.

Práce podává komplexní obraz financování terciárního vzdělávání v České republice. Vysoké školy trpí nedostatkem financí, které se odráží na kvalitě výuky. Navýšení prostředků ze státního rozpočtu je neufinancovatelné a řešení je nutné hledat v zapojení soukromého sektoru. Za nejpřijatelnější východisko je považováno zavedení finanční spoluúčasti studentů. Aby však došlo k potřebnému zlepšení je nutná reforma celého systému financování.

Liberalization and privatization of the electricity industry is one of the most important processes in the few last years. Even when the electricity market is fully open, substantial barriers to competition often remain. These barriers are refusal of access to the market, the lack of capacity in interconnectors and long-term contracts. The process of liberalization has shown that a third-party access to the network is a critical and important factor in ensuring a real and effective liberalization of the market. The process of liberalization has also supported new ways and forms of energy trading including financial contracts instead of purely physical contracts for the delivery of electricity. It is a question if the benefits of liberalization of the electricity industry compared with a regulated private monopoly or public monopoly were profitable. Someone could argue that the liberalization of electricity tends to bring benefit to monopoly structures and increase prices of electricity in industry. This work tries to present the pros and cons of liberalization in the electricity industry while taking in consideration the best means of making the liberatization as much profitable and useful as possible.

The Graduate Theses is describing a way of how banking worked in Czech Republic before the year 1989. It discusses changes which has Czech banking undergone ten years afterwards. It describes the period of founding both foreign and domestic financial institutions. The thesis analyses contribution of presence of foreign banks, occurring problems of small domestic banks and hegemony of four half-state owned banks. At the same time it discusses the coupon privatization from the view of occurring effects in banking sector. In connection to this, it does not leave out existence of capital cohesion in between the banks. Thereinafter the graduation paper deals with measuring of concentration with Herfindahl-Hirshman's index, in order to clearly confirm specific, Czech banking environment, with existence of four large banks and lots of small and middle-sized banks. The main goal of thesis was to focus on strategic privatization of four large banks. It analyses given topic from the point of costs which occurred with delay of privatization, and it creates a question about timing of privatization. Every bank is analyzed in this way from the beginning of nineties till the sale to a strategic investor.
