Svobodová, Monika January 2012 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with the transparency of Czech state-owned enterprises. Thus how they are run, how they are managed and staffed and how they are regulated. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is concern with the constitution of the state-owned enterprises, their development after the change of regime and especially with their sale within the coupon privatization. The second chapter deals with the current privatization of the state-owned enterprises but rather only theoretically and argues whether the state is an appropriate owner and a good bussinesman. The third chapter is devoted to (non)transparency of the state-owned enterprises which means appointing (non)experts to the supervisory boards and (in)sufficient control of these enterprises. The fourth chapter is a case study of Budweiser Budvar. In the end the reader finds the answer to the question whether the set rules for the operation and management of the state-owned enterprises are sufficient.

Changes were related to Czech media too. They became private. Komparace českých a slovenských soukromých bezpečnostních služeb v letech 1993 - 2012 / Comparative Analysis of Private Security Companies in the Czech Republic and Slovakia 1993-2012

Doskočilová, Veronika January 2014 (has links)
The diploma thesis practically and theoretically deals with the concept - privatization of security. The aim of the practical part is to compare the conception of private security companies in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The comparison focuses on the factual data (number of PSC, employees, police forces, the amount of wages, the turnover), state regulation and mutual relation of public and private security providers. The findings of the practical part are applied to the theoretical concept of Rita Abrahamsen and Michael Williams - Theory of Security Assemblages. It is based on the claim that the privatization of security is part of a broader process of partial dismantling of the state and at the same time emerging "global assembly, which brings together national and global structures. The privatization of security is enshrined in both the social and the legal environment, and therefore the state itself can participate on its own dismantling by its acting. This is the case of the Czech Republic due to the absence of PSC's regulation, control mechanisms, minimum requirements for skilled employees PSC and the non-definition of the relationship between public and private security sector. It results in weakening the role of the Czech Republic as a guarantor of security. The aforementioned inaction...

Privatizace vězení v USA: důsledky a limity převodu kompetencí státu do soukromých rukou / Prison Privatization in the United States: The Limits and Consequences of the Transfer of Public Power into Private Hands

Kršková, Martina January 2016 (has links)
The thesis Prison Privatization in the United States: The Limits and Consequences of the Transfer of Public Power into Private Hands analyzes selected consequences of prison privatization in the United States. Although the prison privatization in the US is considered a modern phenomenon, the private sector was involved in corrections from the very early history of the US. Therefore, the thesis introduces the history and philosophy of private sector involvement in corrections. The thesis then examines the factors that led to the decision to privatize prisons, namely overcrowding of prisons, other political factors, and so-called PIE-program that enabled interstate trade with prisoner-made goods. Further, it provides detailed statistics to illustrate the steep rise in the prison population. It also addresses the question of cost-savings and efficiency and it provides examples of specific factors that influence economic performance of private prisons. Important part is dedicated to the growth of prison-industrial complex characterized by the overlapping interests of bureaucracy, politicians and private prison companies that lead to increased pressure to maintain or increase the prison population. In the final chapter, the thesis analyzes the consequences such as increasing tax burden; demographic...

Analýza penzijních systémů se zaměřením na fondový pilíř financování / Analysis of the pension systems with focus on the funded pillar

Baumruk, Luděk January 2010 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with the privatization of the pay-as-you-go pension systems, and it aims to theoretically and empirically disconfirm the widely spread imaginary benefits of the transfer to the fully funded social security system. These so-called social security myths are inherently connected with the transformation of the implicit pension debt to the explicit debt which, as confirmed by the designed multiple regression model, has a negative influence on rating and therefore on financing expenses of certain states. The thesis also focuses on legislative modifications of pension funds in the Czech Republic which fundamentally add to almost zero real annual yield. After subtraction of deferred expenses and revaluation reserve held in equity of particular pension funds, the average real annual yield in recent fifteen years is actually negative.

Koncepce privatizační a sanační činnosti instituce Treuhandanstalt, diskurs okolo Dr. Rohweddera a paní Breuel / Concept of Privatization and Restructuring by the Treuhandanstalt, discourse about Mr. Rohwedder and Mrs. Breuel

Myslivcová, Michaela January 2009 (has links)
The thesis "Concept of Privatization and Restructuring by the Treuhandanstalt, discourse about Mr. Rohwedder and Mrs. Breuel" deals with the creation of the Eastern German privatization agency (THA). Further, the two major tasks of the institute, privatization and reorganization of the national wealth of the GDR, are being analyzed. After the "Treuhandgesetz" (privatization law) had been enforced, the THA soon started to sell companies out of their portfolio. Other companies needed to be shut down and people started to lose their employment. This course of action was heavily criticized by the political opposition as well as the Eastern German people, who were longing for increased wealth. In consequence, the THA started to shift its focus from privatization to reorganization. The controversy surrounding the THA in the middle of the reunification process of Germany is shown by the assassination of Mr. Rohwedder by the terrorist organization RAF. The net financial outcome after four years of management by the THA is a deficit of 200 billion DM.
