Evaluation of User Interface to Improve Documentation within the Elderly Care SystemLindqvist, Sheila January 2019 (has links)
The usability of a software product is dependent on the end-user and the context of use. Having a user-friendly user interface that is appealing and easy to learn and use is essential for improved human productivity. However, this is not always the case. For instance, the computer-based documentation system Siebel used within the elderly care system; is perceived by most nursing assistants as complicated. The goal here is to evaluate the usability of the system's user interface, applying the usability metrics stated in the ISO/IEC-9126-1 standards to quantify the effectiveness, efficiency, and user satisfaction of Siebel’s documentation system. A prototype user interface was developed for comparison with the current system. Likert-scale five-point scale; System Usability Scale (SUS) questionnaires were used to measure User satisfaction. The results mirrored that the participants preferred the newly developed prototype user interface to the existing user interface

LUGN - En prototyp närmare ett stressfritt studentlivLundblad, Caroline, Ahlstedt, Josefine January 2020 (has links)
This study examined how a mental health application would look like if it was created together with students and focused on usability. The purpose of this study was to understand the needs and demands that students have of an application that could have the ability to improve their mental health while using prototyping and usability models to meet these demands. The methods used were qualitative interviews, usability testing and prototyping. The interviews were conducted with six students and a counselor at Malmö university to understand student’s mental health and their needs. The results from the interviews were implemented in a first version of the prototype the authors named LUGN. LUGN were evaluated through the usability test that six other students participated in, the feedback from this resulted in the final version of LUGN. The final version of LUGN is not complete in the sense that it is not an accurate portrayal of how the finished application would look like. It does however portray an important result from this study and that is to cater to student’s diversity when it comes to what makes them feel better. To achieve a more detailed result, further tests and iterations of the prototype has to be made.

Promoting students’ creativity by creating a platform for self-expressionSaley, Hanis, Albabily, Ali January 2023 (has links)
Today students all over the world use different types of social media to express their thoughts, feelings and ideas. It can either be expressed in a close environment, such as group chats or to a more open environment such as a feed for example on facebook, which could be seen by anyone and not only students. The purpose of this thesis is to research how to develop a prototype platform where the students have the choice to express themselves in other ways than writing and share their thoughts, feelings and ideas with other students around the world. For inspiration for design, existing tools and technologies have been researched on how they can attract and engage students into using them for different activities in educational settings. Furthermore research has been made on how to maximize the students’ creativity and keep them engaged with the prototype for them to be able to express themselves freely and creatively. After that the prototype was tested to measure its impact on the students in regards to the engagement and fun and also if they could see this as a new potential way of connecting and sharing thoughts, ideas and feelings with students worldwide. After analyzing and receiving feedback from the students, it was discovered that the final prototype platform needs further work and improvement in order to increase the engagement and fun in the prototype platform. Furthermore future development ideas were discovered, both when the results were analyzed and during the development of the prototype platform.

An evasive manoeuvre assist function for over-reactive driversKittane, Santusht Vasuki, Harinath, Preetham January 2018 (has links)
Previous studies have shown that many drivers are unable to provide the right amount of steering torque when facing an imminent collision with an upcoming obstacle. In some cases, drivers under-react i.e., they provide too low steering inputs and thus collide with the obstacle in front; in other cases, drivers might apply a higher steering input than necessary, potentially resulting in the vehicle leaving the road or losing stability. The EMA function is an active safety feature which has the sole objective of providing steering torque interference when performing such a manoeuvre. The motivation for the thesis work is to overcome some limitations of the existing MA function which does not incorporate the ability to differentiate driver reactions. In this thesis, an Evasive Manoeuvre Assist (EMA) function is designed to adapt to both types of the drivers, by an optimised steering torque overlay. The existing current EMA function is always amplifying the driver steering inputs using a feed-forward controller. The focus of this thesis work is to identify and dene a proper steering sequence reference model for closed-loop feedback control design. A simple single-point preview model is designed first to calculate the reference steering angle. A few test scenarios are set-up using the IPG CarMakerTMsimulation tool. The reference model is then tuned with respect to the amplitude and frequency by batch simulations to obtain the optimal steering prole. A feedback controller is then designed using this reference model. The controller is implemented in a real-time environment, using a Volvo rapid-prototype test vehicle. Preliminary variation tests have shown that the developed controller can enhance both an over-reacting and under-reacting driver's performance during an evasive manoeuvre, by applying assistance/resistance EPAS torque timely. The designed EMA function is shown to accommodate different driver reactions and provide intuitive torque interference. As opposed to the earlier notion that the EMA function only assists the driver with an additional steering wheel torque, it was shown that the optimal steering torque overlay might be in the form of assistance or resistance.

Utveckling av sparapplikation : En fallstudie om hur man utvecklar en applikation som påverkar människans kognitiva beteende / Development of a savings application : A case study about how to develop an application that affects the human cognitive behaviourOthman, Nicole, Zakir, Adrian January 2019 (has links)
To establish an own private savings, for both long-term as well as short-term goals, is a wish that most people have. Looking at the current housing market, there can be some difficulties for young adults, especially in the Stockholm county, to become an owner of a household. This due to the fact that an investment of this kind, often requires the individual to save up for a down payment. This study has been conducted in order to obtain an answer on how to, in an application, affect human cognition and motivate individuals to increase their private savings. As a given assignment from the IT-consulting company Etimo AB, a prototype of a savings-application has been constructed during this study. The solution is a result based on various data collection methods as well as a software development process. The results of the study, in which usability tests and surveys where the most important ones, showed that gamification is a concept which can be used in an application in order to affect human cognition. The results showed more specifically that elements from game design, such as trophies and progress bars, have a positive effect on the users motivation.

Administration av API-drivna enheter och tjänster för slutanvändare : En fallstudie av API-tjänster / Administration of API-driven devices and services for end users : A case study of API servicesChivi, Daniel, Östling Gran, Joakim January 2018 (has links)
Nowadays people tend to use services and appliances that are managed seperately. This thesis examines the possibility of connecting different services into one main web application to faciliate communication between these services. A Great Thing have embraced the need of connecting applications to a single device and therefore, wants to create a web application integrated with the use of agents. These agents are built to manage the events a user request. For example ”Play a song at a specific time”. The methodology applied has partly been a case study and partly user-based methods in form of a survery and a user test. Further research was conducted on communication between service API:s and the necessary parameters that exchange data. Finally, the developed prototype was evaluated according to some usability guidelines. The thesis’s results are presented in the form of a web prototype focused on usability, implementation of APIs, user test of actual users and statistics of demanded services. In addition, a market research has been conducted to highlight economic benefits through API distribution. The conclusion is drawn that it is possible to link API:s and their services to achieve a user-friendly interface and how to use different parameters in an efficient way. Furthermore, the hope is that external readers will understand how the connection between API:s works in a structured and informative approach. Also how different technical methods for usability can be applied in construction of prototypes.

Principkonstruktion för kvalitetsbedömning av medicinska slangsvetsfogar / Theoretical Prototype for Quality Assessment of Medical Tube WeldsMalmsten, Chanel, Ekberg, Amanda January 2022 (has links)
Medical tubes have a significant role in healthcare, which also puts a high demand on the machines that seal the tubes. The type of seal technique which is described in the report is radio-frequency welding, which joins a selected part of the medical tube into a weld. Today, ocular inspection is often used when inspecting sealed ends, which leads to incorrectly performed sealings accidentally ending up in laboratories. Manufacturing equipment that can test welds easily, can therefore be beneficial for all users of tube welds. To ensure the quality of welds, this study has aimed to develop a theoretical prototype, with the function to test the quality of welds made on medical tubes. In this study, various information has been gathered about what requirements a weld must withstand according to a selection of users and distributors, which has been used to develop the theoretic prototype. To fulfill the aim of the study a literature study and previous work were gathered. Then important key components were compiled and the ideas for the theoretical prototype were presented to the supervisors who provided feedback. This feedback was used to complete the final theoretical prototype. The theoretical prototype that has been developed is considered to have good user-friendliness, as human and machine interaction is minimal. Furthermore, it is also considered to be of great benefit to the users as the theoretical prototype is intended to perform tests on all types of medical tubing and their welds without rupturing the tube or contaminating its contents.
