The purpose of this study is to contribute to a better understanding of how visions could be applied in subsidiaries and similar sub organisations of global enterprises. With increasing globalisation it becomes more difficult to work in accordance to same standards and towards a common and unifying interest. The study has a qualitative and deductive approach and is based on interviews with three global subsidiaries with some hundred people employed each.

Conclusions are that the subsidiaries visions have to be based on a guiding philosophy issued by their mother entities and it is the responsibility of the sub organisation to develop a tangible image with a local vision, mission and strategy with targets requiring feedback. Sustainable strategies cannot be issued without a vision describing where the organisation want be in the future. Otherwise they will not come very far until they have to make a restart with a new strategy and they will never be a market leader.

Religious Beliefs and Purpose in Life : Purpose in life as a function of specific religious beliefs in a Christian populationLewenhaupt, Peder January 2016 (has links)
This thesis presents a cross-sectional study of psychological meaning making processes involving religious beliefs and the construction of a sense of purpose in life. Previous research has studied the connection between religiosity and purpose in life, but has failed to adequately represent the multidimensionality of meaning and religion, resulting in a lack of understanding of the psychological processes involved in the construction of a sense of purpose in life. The purpose of this study was to research the connection between specific religious beliefs and a sense of purpose in life in individuals aged 25-40, by testing one hypothesis: There is a significant, positive correlation between the strength of religious belief and purpose in life, and answering two research questions: 1. What specific religious beliefs show a significant correlation to purpose in life?, and 2. How are religious beliefs used in a meaning system for the construction of purpose in life? The study employed a two-phase, mixed methods sequential exploratory design, and a meaning system theory framework, complemented by additional theoretical perspectives in phase 2. The weighting of the data was on the first, qualitative phase of the study and the data were mixed in the final, joint analysis of both types of data. Phase 1 consisted of a survey, measuring the strength of religious beliefs (measured by the BVS scale) and sense of purpose in life (measured by the LAP-R and one item of the WHOQOL-BRIEF). The survey was completed by 40 respondents who self-identified as Christian and were members of various Christian congregations in the city of Stockholm and surrounding areas. The results of phase 1 of the study firstly showed a significant, moderate, positive correlation between the strength of religious belief and purpose in life, confirming the hypothesis. The results also showed that purpose in life was positively and significantly correlated to a belief that God is an all pervading presence (tau = 0.35, p<0.05), belief in forces for evil in the universe (tau = 0.40, p<0.01), belief that human physical contact can be a spiritual experience (tau = 0.27, p<0.05), belief in life after death (tau = 0.31, p<0.05), belief that one's life has been planned out (tau = 0.33, p<0.05), belief that there is a heaven (tau = 0.30, p<0,05), belief that the human spirit is immortal (tau = 0.30, p<0.05), and belief that there is a God (tau = 0.32, p<0.05). Phase 2 consisted of interviews with 9 of the survey respondents, yielding qualitative data that were analysed through an interpretative framework based on two hermeneutic theories. The qualitative analysis showed that religious beliefs are used to construct purpose in a meaning making process consisting primarily of three elements in a meaning system. Beliefs regarding what is ultimately good (ultimate concerns) and beliefs regarding the purpose and role of humanity (overall purpose) provides a foundation for the construction of purpose in life. The individual constructs purpose by locating himself/herself (self-definition) in relation to ultimate concerns and overall purpose. The results of phase 2 also showed that both the content and conviction of religious beliefs influence their use in the construction of purpose in life, further explicating the results of phase 1. The joint analysis of the two phases showed that the results from phase 2 supported the results from phase 1, both regarding the beliefs involved in the construction of purpose in life and the importance of both content and conviction in meaning making processes. Suggestions for further research include additional research on the connections between the various elements of a meaning system, research on the connection between religious beliefs, purpose and the development of self-definition, as well as further theoretical developments of meaning system theory, and harmonisation of meaning system theory with other, complementary theoretical perspectives.

Mezinárodní obchod s druhy rodu Hippocampus / International trade in sea horses (\kur{Hippocampus spp}.)NEDOROSTOVÁ, Anna January 2015 (has links)
This work comprehensively reviews the international trade in sea horses, particularly the Hippocampus genus, from 1997 to 2012. The genus was added to the Appendices II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (thereinafter as the CITES) in 2002, came into force in 2004. Before the addition, the genus was entered into the appendix D for the non-CITES species whose import is monitored by the EU. The CITES Trade Database kept by the UNEP - WCMC Secretariat was used as the source of data about the trade. The frequency of the trade in sea horses tended to be increasing with a moderate decrease in 2009. The Hippocampus species was traded in the following forms: live, bodies, derivatives, specimens, medicine, carvings, eggs live, extracts, fingerlings, powder, skeletons, skin pieces, soup, trophies and other unspecified forms. The living specimens traded: (1) specimens taken from the wild., (2) animals bred in captivity as well as parts and derivatives, (3) Animals born in captivity (F1 or subsequent generations) that do not fulfil the definition of 'bred in captivity', as well as parts and derivatives thereof, (4) specimens of animals reared in a controlled environment, taken as eggs or juveniles from the wild, where they would otherwise have had a very low probability of surviving to adulthood, (5) confiscated or seized specimens, (6) pre- Convention specimens. The trades purposes were: (1) commercial, (2) personal, (3) scientific, (4) zoo (aquarium) breeding, (5) educational, (6) breeding in captivity, circus and other exhibitions, (7) conventional medicine, (8) law enforcement / judicial / forensic purposes. The most traded genus was unspecified (Hippocampus spp.), then the H. kuda, the H. reidi and the H. erectus as living specimens or dead bodies; also the ones from the wild and for the commercial purposes. Those came mostly from Vietnam, Thailand or Australia. They were exported mainly from Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Australia. The greatest importers were the USA, Germany and the Great Britain.

Mezinárodní obchod s druhy čeledi Crocodylidae / International trade in species of the family CrocodylidaeVEJBOROVÁ, Tereza January 2015 (has links)
This thesis is focused on the evaluation of an international trade with species of Crocodylidae family. The main data source was CITES trade database, in which there are registered all the trades with required species. Based on data analysis it was identified the course of commerce with all the commodities between 1993 and 2012. The most frequently marketed species are these four crocodiles: Crocodylus niloticus, porosus, siamensis a novaeguineae. For these species were observed total net import, gross export, the number of trades per year, share of countries participated on import and export, the purpose of the trade and the source of traded commodities. At the rest of the species the less marketed ones summary tables of import and gross export were created. From the analysis was found out that the most of monitored species come from the farm breeding, which are specialised inleather and meat production. The third significant commodity is leather products. From charts can be noticed the growth of leather and skin production for Nile crocodile and of live specimens export for Siamese crocodile. For the next two in detail analysed species there was no production growth noted.

Previous issue date: 2009 / This research focused on the analysis on how specific communicative purposes contribute to possible differentiations in distributing information in news about business, sports, police and politics. Based on Swales’s (1990, 2004) theoretical and methodological model of genre analysis – the model CARS –, we analyzed the news in these four different themes. It allowed us to present four purposes of rhetoric organization for this genre. In three of them, we checked informational peculiarities that we relate to their specific communicative purposes. Besides these peculiarities, these four themes presented similar information units. These similarities led us to suggest a proposal of organizing the information to the genre news that could represent all the analyzed themes. We could also verify that the genre news did not lose its generic feature despite the peculiarities observed in each theme.

Previous issue date: 2012 / The aim of our study was to characterize the action of blogging (Miller and Shepherd, 2007) as a constellation of genres (Araújo, 2006), using as criteria the central concept of specific communicative purpose (Swales, 1990, 2004, ASKHAVE AND WALES, 2001 and BHATIA, 1993, 1997, 2001, 2004). For this we draw a theoretical-methodological route that sought first to describe the profile of discursive communities such as bloggers, academics and journalistics which make use of blogs as part of its set of genre. Then we identified the different genres of the constellation of blogs based on the apprehension of their specific communicative purposes. Finally, we analyze how the specific purposes influence on the constitution of gender constellation of blogs. Our basic hypothesis was that if, having as criteria for achieving gender definition of purpose (s) communicative (s) specific (s) taken (s) from using that discourse communities are of a certain gender, therefore, we believe it is possible that the characterization of the different discursive communities that make use of blogs to reach diverse genres appointed as general blog, but because they have specific communicative purposes constitute a constellation formation of distinct genera, however, traversed by common elements what unites them and enables recognition of all by the same common name of blog. In developing our research we have adopted the method of approach, ethnomethodology (Garfinkel, 1967, CICOUREL, 1977, COULON, 1995), already used by Miller (2007), and whereby we seek deduce significant statements of the subjects in their contexts spontaneous interaction, by copying screens of blogs, which would enable us to achieve the objectives of this research. This method of approach was adequate to the apprehension of communicative purposes as well as the understanding of the functioning of discursive communities that use blogs. To analyze the influence of communicative purpose in each gender constellation, we use a quantitative analysis in checking the occurrence of similar characteristics between the samples analyzed. The results demonstrate that the discursive communities analyzed using blogs with their own communicative purposes and those purposes influence in fact the constitution (compositional plan, themes and style) of each of the three identified distinct genres of blogs: personal blogs, journalistic and academic. In our view it is sufficient to characterize them as distinct genera, but united by a similar compositional structure, characterizing the constellation of blogs.

Previous issue date: 2012 / This thesis discusses the process of genre re-elaboration in the formation of Twitter posts. We therefore investigated how the functioning scheme and the value dynamics of this social network inspire the manipulation of different genre patterns that, when migrating to the interior, are submitted to its users’ work. We conduct our discussion in the light of social network analysis practiced by Recuero (2009; 2010), the epistemological reflections on the discourse genre nature formulated by Bakhtin ([1979] 2011), the communicative purpose concept coined and made neat by Swales (1990; 2004), Askhave and Swales (2001) and Bhatia (1993; 2001) and the re-elaboration concept, as been updated since Araújo (2006) until Zavam (2009) and Costa (2010). Supported by this theoretical and methodological basis, we undertook an analysis of 195 posts and 45 questionnaires answered by Twitter users. At first, from the post propagation indexes, we observed how the social network functioning dynamics influences the diffusion and the genre arrays sedimentation formed by patterns and distinct genres. In a second step, we turned to the tweet form, detecting that strategies were used by the users in order to intervene in the genres when elaborating their tweets. Finally, we investigated, in the corpus examples and with the users questioned, that communicative purposes were served by the posts resulting from this work. The results showed that, within Twitter, there is a peculiar functioning dynamics, which is reflected in the language actions of the actors of this social network whom, motivated by the desire to put themselves in evidence and broaden their connections, mobilize and manipulate distinct genre patterns by using specific strategies. The genre arrangements generated from this scheme have distinctive communicative purposes, at the service of the social network itself. We believe that the sum of these factors: peculiar enunciative demand, distinct genre pattern mobilization and communicative purpose modification, is set as a genre re-elaboration constant process, whose products are consumed and propagated within the social network, feeding it back.
