Stereoskopická pozorování slunečních radiových emisí přístrojem S/waves na družicích stereo / Stereoscopic Observations of Solar Radio Emissions by the S/WavesInstrument onboard the STEREO Spacecraft

This PhD thesis is primarily dedicated to a study of type III radio bursts observed by the S/Waves instrument onboard Solar TErrestrial RElations Observatory (STEREO). These emissions are produced by beams of suprathermal electrons escaping the corona along open magnetic field lines during increased solar activity. As fast electrons propagate in the interplanetary (IP) medium, Langmuir waves are generated at the local electron plasma frequency fpe by a bump-on-tail instability and can be afterwards converted by a non-linear process into radio emissions at fpe and/or 2fpe: type III radio bursts. We have developed a goniopolarimetric (GP, also referred to as direction-finding) inversion using the Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) technique for electric measurements on three non-orthogonal antennas. It allows us to retrieve both wave vector directions and polarization properties of incident waves. We have also investigated the influence of extended sources (as a typical feature of type III radio bursts) on measured spectral matrices. We have found an empirical relation between apparent source sizes and spectral matrices decomposed by SVD. Goal of this thesis is to develop portable monitoring station for radio spectrum monitoring and its controlling application for use by Czech Telecommunication Office. The station is based on Software Defined Radio (SDR) and capable of monitoring in the range of 1 MHz - 6 GHz. Developed application controls not only the SDR but also the external RF unit (including choice of receiving antenna, filter, optional amplification/attenuation and azimuth of antenna rotator). Measurement processed by computer and displayed graphically in form of spectrum diagram and waterfall diagram. Furthermore, the application will perform spectral measurement in compliance with requirements of International Telecommunication Union. The application is also capable of recording into the file and of analyzing historical data from the previous measurement.

Master’s thesis belongs to the Cognitive radio network sphere. These networks utilize frequency spectrum more effectively than networks used in present radio communications. The Cognitive radio concept makes coexistence of classic and cognitive radio networks possible. Attention is aimed at spectrum sensing as the key task of the Cognitive radio. Main properties of the cyclostationary detector, as the detector, that reaches high probability of the detection at a very low signal to noise ratio with apriori knowledge of the transmitted signal's cyclic frequency, are examined in this paper. The OFDM signals, that inherit cyclostationarity from cyclic prefix, used in the real systems have been chosen for testing the properties of the detector. The influences of decimation and multipath propagation on the probability of detection are quantitatively expressed. The optimal values for the weights of the multicycle detector are determined.

This master's thesis deals with design and development of a system for measuring altitude (height above ground level) of flying objects. It describes theoretical background related to altitude measurements in avionics as well as various techniques of altitude measuring. The measurement is conducted by HMD (Height measuring device) - embedded system which uses barometric pressure sensor to measure altitude. The main part of this thesis is dedicated to ground unit - a server running custom set of applications. Using this server and radio link, it is possible to send control commands to HMD, receive data, and propagate data into web application. Furthermore server acts as a data storage and is able to process and analyse data. The thesis also discusses the precision of the measurement and the data output. System was tested and used during several glider aerobatics competitions.

This thesis is concerned with the role of internal gravity waves (IGWs) in the stratospheric dynamics and variability demonstrating the effect of spatiotemporal distribution of their activity on the stratospheric dynamics and transport. The first part introduces a theoretical overview of the most recent as well as classical approaches used for description of the wave-mean interaction in the middle atmosphere. Methodology for an IGW analysis from the GPS radio occultation density data is described in the next chapter and the advantages of utilization of density data are listed. The third chapter presents results describing the peculiar dynamics and anomalous IGW activity in the Eastern Asia/Northern Pacific region. An important part is dedicated to a discussion of accuracy limits and usability of different IGW activity proxies. The possible impact of the localized IGW activity is investigated using a mechanistic middle and upper atmosphere model in the last chapter. Sensitivity simulations are used to demonstrate an important role of the spatial distribution of IGW activity for a formation of planetary waves and for the longitudinal variability of the Brewer-Dobson circulation. Diploma thesis "The development of legal, political and social aspects of obscenity in the USA" focuses on the historical development of the basic definition of obscenity, highlights the long and difficult process of its formulation and presents crucial decisions of the Supreme court. It also briefly summarizes chief arguments supporting or rejecting censorship on the grounds of obscenity. This work also provides with a general overview of legislature concerning obscenity in the United States and concisely presents some interest groups, which are actively fighting against obscenity/ indecency or for the protection of the freedom of speech. Furthermore, the work also focuses on the work of the Federal Communication commission and gives an overview of its rulings regulating obscenity and indecency in broadcasting media. Finally, this work also introduces the Nipplegate scandal and concentrates on the developments after it.

This paper describes a wireless communication model based on IEEE 802.11n. Typical methods for channel equalisation and estimation are described, such as the least squares method and the minimum mean square error method. Equalization based on deep learning was used as well. Coded and uncoded bit error rate was used as a performance identifier. Experiments with topology of the neural network has been performed. Programming languages such as MATLAB and Python were used in this work.
