Visual preferences for wind turbines

Běťáková, Vendula January 2016 (has links)
This dissertation is a selection of three papers focused on visual preference of wind turbines. Visual impact presents the connectivity of the articles, whereas each one deals with the topic from different perspective. First paper "Wind turbines location: How many and how far?" analyses in detail the characteristics of wind turbines themselves, i.e. their number and distance from observer or vantage point in relation to landscape quality. Second paper "How education orientation affects attitudes toward wind energy and wind farms: implications for the planning process" concentrates on respondents´ characteristics, in particular educational orientation, general attitude, occurrence of WTs in respondents´ vicinity and willingness to live close to WTs. Whereas first two papers use same assessment method to analyse differences of WTs perception from different point of view, the third paper "Futuristic Wind Power Systems Suitable as Artistic Sculptures" presents review of WTs appearance in general and proposals of possible future look as an alternative to traditional wind turbines.

Šandová, Petra January 2017 (has links)
The patient's autonomy is very important part of medical and nursing practice and every patient should have a right to express their opinion about their treatment. Advance directives give person an opportunity to express even in situations when it is not possible to communicate with others. Although it is possible to write advance directives in the Czech Republic only negligible percentage of people take advantage of this possibility. Why is it so? I have set two goals in my thesis. My first goal is to determine the awareness of the general public about the advance directives in the Czech Republic and also I want to find out awareness about the possibility to appoint a guardian as a mediator of fulfilment of advance directives of an individual. It is also my goal to discover whether respondents would welcome greater awareness of this topic. My second objective is to determine the attitudes of respondents to the problematics of advance directives. I want to discover if the respondents have ever dealt with the idea of being in a situation which they could not communicate with their environment and if they would like to have an opinion to decide about their treatment and also if they would like to name their mediator. I would like to provide the results of my thesis to the department of quality...

Specifika marketingového výzkumu u dětí / Specifications of marketing research conducted with underage respondents

Čepek, Michal January 2012 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the ethics of marketing research conducted with underage respondents. Child security is a very hot topic these days; therefore the field of market research should use only methods tolerated by parents. Global as well as local market research associations regularly publish codes of conduct and guidelines dealing with the ethics in market research. However, they define only basic rules and regulations and do not reflect the specificity of each method and technique. The goal of this diploma thesis is to identify methods used in market research that are not perceived as ethical by parents. Results should motivate research agencies to eliminate using such methods or at least modify them to decrease the level of controversy among general public. In order to identify unethically perceived market research methods, the author of the thesis conducted a quantitative research among the needed target group: parents of school kids. The survey found 5 methods that are considered ethical and thus do not pose any significant threat to the industry of market research: taste test, observation, product test, eye-tracking and communication test. Two methods were labeled as unethical by the respondents: field experiment and online discussion groups. Those methods can be used without any major changes provided that agencies communicate openly with parents all details regarding the research. They have to make sure that parents understand the methodology and are sure to let their children participate in such a project. Finally, three methods were recognized as highly unethical or even illegal: neuromarketing, netnography and geolocation (geomarketing). These methods carry a high probability of damaging the positive image of market research industry among general public. Less than one quarter of respondents consider these methods as suitable for use with kids and at the same time more than 25 % of parents think that those methods are illegal. In case of neuromarketing, it is recommended to firstly explain the used methodology in detail and, if possible, demonstrate its 100 % safety in presence of a doctor. Netnography was evaluated as highly unethical. On the other hand, it is a type of observation; therefore, its use in reality is unlikely to be registered by public. As a result, there does not have to be any severe steps taken to regulate this method. Geolocation scored as the most unethical market research method in the survey. This method is therefore not recommended for use as it carries an enormous risk of damaging the whole market research industry.

Kvalita života jako nástroj k hodnocení výsledků balneoterapie u pacientů s Bechtěrevovou chorobou v Bertiných lázních v Třeboni / Quality of Life as instrument of Balneotherapy effects evaluation made by patients suffering from Bechtěrev disease in Berta Health Spa in Třeboň

ZEMAN, Marek January 2007 (has links)
This diploma work studies quality of life of patients suffering from Bechtěrev disease (Ankylosing Spondylitis), who had global four-weeks cure in Berta Health Spa in Třeboň from 1st January to 31st July 2006. Hypothesis says that six months after the end of balneotherapy the quality of life of these patients will be higher than before. For confirmation or confutation of this hypothesis there was used quantitative method of research, in form of adjusted questionnaire for detection of quality of Life by SEIQoL concept (Schedule for the Evaluation of Individual Quality of Life). By this measure respondents are allowed to nominate five areas of life (aims of life), which are most important, together with percentage rate of their satisfaction with each and the relative importance of each. Average life-quality index of the respondents before balneotharapy was 60,4 %, six months after the end of balneotharapy it was 62,7 %. Thus six months after the end of the cure the respondents have higher quality of life. Then there were mentioned and discussed differences in perception of quality of life of various age groups and of gender. There was also accomplished order of the most often mentioned aims of life, as well an analysis of ``health{\crqq} as alife aim was done. This diploma work could be used in cultural work and for improvement of informedness in problematic of life quality. But mainly, it could be perhaps taken as a little controversial report to the discussion about using of assorted exploratory concepts for evaluation of quality of life.
