As tecnologias da informação são divididas em quatro grupos: gerenciamento de informações controle e monitoramento, telecomunicações, incluindo acesso a base de dados e serviços, e robótica. Inicialmente é feito um levantamento das aplicações em cada grupo de tecnologias, indicando-se as atividades em que estão sendo empregadas,ou estudadas. Discute-se as reais,ou potenciais, mudanças provocadas pela adoção dessas tecnologias no processo de gestão e produção. Para as tecnologias de gerenciamento de informações, é feito uma análise da oferta de software agrícola no Estado de São Paulo, caracterizando-se as software-houses e os programas. Finalizando, são feitas algumas considerações sobre o processo de informatização da agricultura brasileira / Abstract: This thesis relates the applications of information technologies in the rural environment. These technologies are dividided in four groups: information management, monitoring and control, telecommunications, including the access to database and services, and robotics. A preliminary survey concerning the application of each group of techonology was carried out indicating the activities where they have been employed or studied. Furthermore the real or potential changes resulted from the adoption of these techologies in the management and production processes are discussed.An analysis of the offer of agricultural software in the São Paulo State characterizing the software-houses and programs was carried out for the technologies of information management. Finnaly some aspects of the use of information technology in the brazilian agriculture are discussed. / Mestrado / Mestre em Engenharia Elétrica
