Ainda foi calculado o calor específico em rosas, com o intuito de fornecer subsídio necessário para trabalhos futuros e auxiliar no dimensionamento adequado de um sistema de resftiamento para flores / Abstract: Floriculture is one of the agricultural activities that is emerging more and more, not only as to the tecnological point of view but also economical. The Brazilian flower market isprofitable and very interesting because of its small exploration. The rose is one of the main cutting flower commercialised in Brazil, because it is atradicional consumer' s tlowers and is cultivated in almost alI the flower producingmunicipalities. The product does not yet have the desired export quality, notwithstanding the fact that it is the most sold cutting flower in the world. The quality of the product that arrives on the consumer's market is closely related to post harvest treatments, where they suffer great important loss that is significant to the economical point of view, initiating when the product is harvested on the field until the final consumer' s preparation. In this research the flowers underwent a dehydration process as a post-harvesttreatment. After the tlowers were harvested they were kept and stocked in coolhouses, in water at an adequate temperature with different conditions. (dry or humid; with or withoutconserving solution; and with the use of packing materiais like polyethylene or ribbed paper). The treatment results were compared to the traditional post harvest and durability of the products. The specific heat of roses were also calculated to subsidese futures works on the dimensioning of a cooling systems for flowers / Mestrado / Pre-Processamento de Produtos Agricolas / Mestre em Engenharia Agrícola

The objective of this work was to verify the efficiency of pruning height and number of sprouts on the yield and quality of rose buds of the cultivars Red Success and Sônia. The experimental design consisted of random plots with three replications for each cultivar. The pruning height treatments in the parcels were 30 cm, 60 cm and visual pruning (visually choosing the best stems). The parcels were subdivided into subparcels where the pruning treatments of number of sprouts were two, four and six, plus a treatment in which the pruning was like in commercial rose plantations. The pruning height was measured from the graft and the number of sprouts was counted from the pruning height. The following characteristics were evaluated after harvesting: the diameter of buds, the diameter of the base and tip of the stems, the length of the stems, the length of the buds, the average weight of the stems and buds, the total yield of fresh matter of stems and buds, and the number of flowers per plant. The results showed that the number of sprouts influenced the growth and the development of the stems and buds of both cultivars. For the Red Success the visual pruning treatment allowed higher production of fresh matter per stems and buds and higher number of flowers per plant than the other treatments. The visual pruning treatment leaving six sprouts per stem yielded higher number of buds in the higher value commercial classes, as well as the highest total yield. For the cultivar Sônia the pruning height of 30 cm above the graft yielded the greatest values for the diameters of the base and tip of the stems, and the pruning height of 60 cm gave the highest values for bud diameter. The visual pruning treatment and leaving six sprouts per stem yielded the highest total number of flowers, mainly in the commercial classes of 40-50 cm. / Não foi localizado o cpf do autor.

Toward positional cloning of everblooming gene (evb) in plants: a BAC library of Rosa chinensis cv. old blush

Hess, Gregory 30 October 2006 (has links)
A majority of commercial rose varieties bloom repeatedly throughout the year, as compared to most rose species, other woody ornamentals, and fruit crops that bloom once a year. This recurrent flowering feature of the commercial roses resulted from a flowering mutation named everblooming (evb). The mutation is recessive to once blooming and is found in the rose species Rosa chinensis. Although several molecular maps have been developed for rose, little is known about the evb gene, except for its classic genetics. The purpose of this study was to develop a large-insert bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) library as a starting tool for molecular cloning and analysis of the evb gene by map-based cloning. To construct the large-insert BAC library, nuclear megabase-size DNA was isolated from the recurrent blooming diploid species, Rosa chinensis cv. Old Blush. The DNA was then partially digested with BamHI and separated on agarose gels by multi-phase pulsed-field gel electrophoresis. Size selected fragments estimated between 100 kb and 150 kb in size were cloned into the pECBAC1 BAC vector and the clones having rose DNA inserts were arrayed in 80 384-well microplates individually, with each clone being barcoded. The library contains 30,720 clones, has an average insert size of 108 kb and covers roughly 5.9x genome equivalents, with a >99% probability of isolating a single-copy clone from the library. The library is now available to be screened with the genes cloned from other species that control vernalization and floral development and will be used in mapbased cloning of the evb gene using a Rosa wichuraiana (‘Basye’s Thornless’) x ‘Old Blush’ backcross population.
