The impact of rising women's salaries on marital and relationship satisfaction.

Using data from a national survey, this study examines income and other key variables (division of labor and work-family conflict) and their relationship to marital satisfaction. This study builds upon the body of research regarding working couples and women's increased participation in the paid labor force as well as evaluates the findings in the context of data gathered from the recent United States census. Results from this study also are compared to the findings of other key studies. Emergent data may be used to prepare counselors to work more effectively with couple clients and to assist employers in the development of work life policies for dual career and dual earner employees. Results from the multiple regression revealed no direct effects of income on marital satisfaction. For this sample, increases in work family conflict contributed to less marital satisfaction as did the presence of children. Increased participation in household chores by respondents' partners contributed to increased marital satisfaction. No differences were observed by gender. Limitations of the study, recommendations for further research, and implications for practitioners also are addressed.

Som revisor behöver man säkerställa att man bibehåller den revisionskvalitet som krävs, även i tider av social distansering. Syfte och frågeställning: Denna studie syftar till att undersöka om, och hur, den sociala distanseringen, till följd av Coronapandemin, har påverkat kvaliteten på revisorns arbete. Genomförandet är av kvantitativ karaktär och genomförs genom enkäter med respondenter från revisionsbyråer Sverige över.Slutsats: Studiens resultat påvisar en viss påverkan på branschen till följd av Coronapandemin. Bland annat så har bedömningen om fortlevnad försvåras då framtiden är oviss för många av klienterna. Denna studie påvisar även att revisorsarvoden inte har sänkts till följd av Coronapandemin, inte heller revisorers löneutveckling. Vidare har de krav på digitalisering effektiviserat revisorers arbete som fått implementera andra arbetssätt för att samla in de ekonomiska underlag som krävs för revisionen. Det kan inte, i nuläget, påvisas att revisionskvaliteten påverkats av Coronapandemin. Det framforskade resultatet visar att de som arbetar inom "Big Four" är mer motiverade av lön när det handlar om utfört arbete jämfört med de som inte arbetar inom "Big Four". Resterande punkter skiljer sig inte parterna sig mellan.

Occupational wellbeing types in the health care industry in South Africa

Bibliography: pages 273-351 / The context of this research is the occupational wellbeing of employees in the healthcare industry in South Africa. The purpose of this study was to identify occupational wellbeing types that cluster as a result of variables (burnout, work engagement, workaholism and job satisfaction) which can be plotted on the circumplex model of wellbeing, and determining the extent of type differences in as far as it pertains to psychosocial antecedent variables (age, job demands, job resources and work-related sense of coherence), as well as positive and negative outcome variables (comprising organisational commitment and turnover intention). A quantitative survey was conducted on a convenience sample of healthcare workers (N = 461). The population consisted of predominately black African females, aged between 31 and 45 from the nursing profession. Cluster analysis using k-means found statistically significant support for three occupational wellbeing types, namely, Exhausted, Engaged and Burned-Out. Results from MANOVA revealed a difference between all occupational wellbeing types and the psychosocial antecedent variables of job demands, job resources and work-related sense of coherence. The occupational wellbeing types did not however differ, based on the age of the participants. Multinomial logistic regression analysis revealed that age was additionally not a significant predictor of the occupational wellbeing types, whilst Work-SoC predicted the engaged type, and job demands and job resources predicted the engaged and exhausted types in comparison to the burned-out type. Hierarchical moderated regression analysis concluded that each of the occupational wellbeing types played a significant role by moderating the relationship between the psychosocial antecedent variables of job resources and work-related sense of coherence, and the positive and negative outcomes of organisational commitment and turnover intention. Theoretically the study highlighted the importance of addressing the occupational wellbeing concerns and challenges faced by healthcare employees in South Africa face. The empirical value of the study was the identification of the occupational wellbeing types and a potential nomological net. The knowledge derived from the relationship between the variables may be valuable in informing a holistic affective wellbeing model which could direct practices within the healthcare industry in South Africa. / Die konteks van hierdie navorsing is die beroepswelstand van werknemers in die gesondheidsorgbedryf in Suid-Afrika. An analysis of the factors contributing to the emigration of South African nurses

Nurses constitute the largest professional group in South Africa's health care services. Factors contributing to South African nurses' emigration were studied qualitatively by analysing expatriate nurses' responses to open-ended questions, and quantitatively by analysing newly registered nurses' responses to structured questionnaires. These results were contextualised within Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs Theory, revealing that nurses' inability to meet their physiological needs, due to inadequate remuneration, was the major factor contributing to nurses' emigration potential. While improved salaries might enable more nurses to remain in South Africa, expatriate nurses would not return to South Africa unless certain esteem and self-actualisation needs could also be satisfied. Improving nurses' salaries is essential to address South African nurses' emigration potential. However, improved working conditions, enhanced workplace security, improved levels of job satisfaction and the appointment of nurses into currently frozen posts are also necessary, as is governmental and public recognition of the value of the profession. The South African nursing profession, health care services, Government and society should urgently address factors contributing to South African nurses' emigration potential; otherwise a serious shortage of nurses could cause the collapse of this country's health care services. / Health Studies / DLITT ET PHIL (HEALTH ST)

Cette thèse, qui présente les sculpteurs actifs à Florence à l’époque des deux derniers grands-ducs de la dynastie des Médicis, Cosme III (1670-1723) et Jean-Gaston (1723-1737), est une étude de synthèse permettant de situer les sculpteurs dans un contexte social et historique. Elle considère le métier de sculpteur sous tous ses aspects : la formation, les conditions de vie et de travail, le statut social, l’organisation des ateliers, la répartition du travail entre les différents collaborateurs, le processus de création des sculptures et des décors sculptés, ainsi que le rôle essentiel du dessin dans l’élaboration et l’exécution de ces sculptures. En arrivant au pouvoir, Cosme III voulut donner un nouvel essor à la sculpture florentine et prit de nombreuses initiatives dans cette direction : il transforma l’enseignement, développa la production d’objets de luxe au sein de la Galleria dei Lavori et facilita le travail des sculpteurs de nombreuses manières, offrant à la plupart d’entre eux des pensions, des charges officielles et des ateliers. Les sculpteurs étaient certes nombreux, mais la vie artistique s’articulait en réalité autour de quelques figures majeures. Le plus important était Giovanni Battista Foggini, installé dans le célèbre atelier des sculpteurs de cour situé Borgo Pinti. Il cumula les fonctions de Premier sculpteur et d’architecte de la Galleria dei Lavori, dirigeant ainsi une très vaste équipe d’assistants et de collaborateurs. Notre recherche est fondée sur un ample dépouillement d’archives et sur l’étude de dessins préparatoires. Un volume d’annexe comprend un répertoire des sculpteurs ainsi que la transcription de nombreux documents inédits. / This thesis, presenting sculptors active in Florence at the time of the last two grand dukes of the Medici dynasty, Cosimo III (1670-1723) and Gian Gastone (1723-1737), is a synthetic study which situates these sculptors in their historical and societal contexts. The work takes into account all the aspects of the profession: the training, in Rome and in Florence, the living and working conditions, the social status, the organisation of the workshops, the creative process, the division of work among the specialists, as well as the important role of drawing in designing and executing the works. When Cosimo III came into power, he decided to bring about a revival in Florentine sculpture and rapidly took many initiatives in this direction: he reformed artistic education, developed the production of luxury artefacts within the Galleria dei Lavori and facilitated the work of sculptors in many ways, offering many of them monthly pensions, official functions and locations for workshops. Even though the period saw a significant number of sculptors working in Florence, artistic life actually centred around a limited number of major figures. Giovanni Battista Foggini, the most important, was settled in the famous sculpture workshop located in Borgo Pinti. At the height of his long career, Foggini was First sculptor as well as Architect of the Galleria dei Lavori, hence managing a vast team of collaborators, assistants and craftsmen. The research is based on a thorough analysis of the archives related to the period as well as an extensive study of the preparatory drawings. A volume of appendices contains a repertory of the sculptors and also the transcription of many unpublished documents.
