Sjödahl, Anton January 2013 (has links)
Under the hawks wingsDistribution and sorting at the upptagningshem in Sandsbro between the years 1933-1935This paper aims to study a so called ”upptagningshem” in Sandsbro, Sweden during theperiod 1933 to 1935. All the children during those three years were enrolled in theupptagningshem is included in the study, a total of 101 children. The main sources studied areprimary sources obtained from the county archive in Kronoberg which is shown in aquantitative method with the thesis that the upptagningshem works according to YeheskelHasenfelds “people-processing technologies”, which acts as a sorting device which meanscategorizing and classifying activities where different kinds of people are sorted and based onthe results taken care of, by appropriate other organization that can provide the rightresources. Added to this thesis is a gender and class perspective with the focus to determine ifthe sorting progress were dependent on the gender and “class” of the child.Based on the hypothesis that the “upptagningshem” continued placement of children wasfounded in a sort after not only health but also by gender and class, the survey shows that thegender of the child has played a role when it comes to how kids later sorted further by the”upptagningshem”. Class should not have played the same role in the continued placement ofthe child from the ”upptagningshem”. In class, I mean my own design of the concept whichuses children last stay before the upptagningshem as representative of that "class" kids werecoming from. The conclusion of this essay is that one chooses to place the children on to what for the timewere considered to be most appropriate place, parents or foster care, which mimics the"normal" family relationships. This is consistent with previous research which confirms thestrong belief in what they consider to be normal family relationships which children should beeducated in order to become good citizens.
