A poesia pastoril: \"As Bucólicas\" de Vírgilio / Virgil\'s bucolic poetry and his originality

Márcio Luiz Moitinha Ribeiro 31 March 2006 (has links)
This research introduces some reflections about Virgil\'s bucolic poetry and his originality. Considerations are made about the origins of this genre, as well as about the themes which are recurrent in bucolic poetry, such as bucolic landscape, heterosexual and homosexual love, love-admiration, and mythological elements. We have divided the study of Virgilian style in three parts. In the first part, the presence of Hellenic traits in the work Bucolics is suggested. In the second part, recurrent syntactic structures in his poetry are explored: syntactic parallelism, the use of the vocative, the use of the imperative form, ellipsis and zeugma. Finally, focus is given to rhythm, musicality and figures of harmony, repetition and chiasm, of thinking and tropes. Political allusions in Virgil are also discussed and exemplified in this dissertation. In the conclusion, two special literary genres are introduced, which feature in Bucolics - the amebeu chant and the epigram, which contribute to Virgil\'s poem being a text in which one can notice hybridism, in generic terms. Virgil\'s Bucolics became a paradigmatic work to literature in civilizations of both Greek and Latin ascent.

Correlação entre o grau de displasia coxofemoral e análise cinética da locomoção de cães da raça Pastor Alemão / Correlation between hip dysplasia degree and locomotion kinetic analysis in German Shepherd dogs

Alexandre Navarro Alves de Souza 17 November 2009 (has links)
Hip dysplasia (HD) is a polygenic disease, inherited that affects many species and is influenced by several factors during development causing joint incongruity. It is one of the most common orthopedic disorders in dogs and has a high incidence in German shepherd dogs. The objective of this study was to correlate the degree of severity of the HD with the locomotion of dogs by kinetic analysis trough the pressure walkway system (Tekscan®) that provides quantitative values of vertical ground reaction forces (GRF) to the changes in the support of dysplastic dogs during locomotion. Five groups were performed according to HD´s classification in the categories A, B, C, D and E in German shepherd dogs total of 8 animals in each group. Dogs were examined and kinetic analysis was performed with 5 valid passages on the multiple platforms were used for comparison each groups. In kinetic analysis was assessed the peak vertical force (PVF), vertical impulse (VI), and stance phase (SF) with a constant speed between 1.3 to 1.6m/s. Besides conventional methodology the analysis of support checking the distribution of GRF in the pad and digits in each region were innovative. Results had a tendency to decrease progressively the PVF in the hindlimbs (HL) from group C (mild dysplasia) and VI is decreased in dysplastic dogs without any correlation with the severity of disease. Relevant compensation was not found in the forelimbs (FL) and even in dysplastic dogs there were no difference between the SF. Symmetry between the right and left side was found in all groups by conventional analyze. The new methodology has allowed a detailed description of the standard curve of force in M-shaped held by the support pad at the beginning and the digits in a second time. However given the variability and asymmetry of support in these areas we can only assert that the FL pads have a higher percentage of support from HL and this distribution is not affected on a regular basis in the HD. The clinical signs presented by physical examination like pain, lameness, muscle atrophy and articulate amplitude decreased, corroborated with the support decrease in dysplastic dogs. We conclude that according to the severity HD degree animals have tendencies to support less at the HL. However it should be consider the individual response because there are dysplastic dogs that have the same pattern of support that dogs free of HD.

Impact of the death of a male clergy on the spouse a pastoral challenge

Mhlabane, Peter January 2017 (has links)
Clergy widows face unique challenges because of being in the manse and their changed position in the congregation. Though they are human, like everyone, the expectations from the church and community are usually different. As the mother to the church, she is expected to be strong for the sake of the church members. There is a common assertion that a clergy spouse should conceal her grief due to her position in public. Many clergy spouses struggle to find their ministry rhythm after losing their husband. One of the contributory factors is the manner in which the local church leadership handles the clergy family after the death of the male clergy. This research was undertaken as a response to the plight of the clergy widows under the local church leadership. A qualitative methodological design was followed to tap out new experiences. Five clergy widows and one pastor were interviewed and an in-depth qualitative analysis was undertaken to explore the role of the church on caring for the clergy family. The results of the study are presented in a descriptive and interpretive approach. The available literature was coherently linked to participants’ narratives in developing new knowledge. Hence, the research is intended to contribute by bringing new perspective on how the church cares for the clergy family after the death of the male clergy. This study was initially scheduled to be done within the Sekhukhune district in the Limpopo province. However, due to the withdrawal of some potential participants, the author ended up overlapping to part of the Mpumalanga province. It was discovered that most churches provided the necessary support towards the burial of the clergy but to dismally disappear immediately after the funeral. This trend coupled with the removal of the clergy family from the manse immediately after the funeral has caused unfathomable trauma in the clergy family As this study’s aim was to contribute to the field of practical theology and pastoral care, the interpretive model postulated by Osmer was employed. The findings are hoped to contribute to the body of knowledge within an African perspective. It is intended to contribute to pastoral an approach, which is applicable to the African perspective and Biblical ethos. / Dissertation (MA)--University of Pretoria, 2017. / Practical Theology / MA / Unrestricted

Urban Shepherd : Cultivating space, food and us. / Urban Shepherd : Att kultivera landskapet, maten och oss.

Lane, Jordan January 2014 (has links)
Urban shepherd advocates the design and implementation of coherent productive living systems in urban environments. Central to urban shepherd is the creation of multifunctional urban space networks designed to improve ecosystem health while meeting human needs by inducing top-down institutional and bottom-up individual change. Urban Shepherd creates such change through a strategic vision, process and system. Exploring the urban experience through social and environmental landscape use, community ecologies and future architectural practice, urban shepherd offers effective practices of experimentation, future urban natures and the occasional sighting of sheep, pigs and chickens.

Pastýř jako antropomorfismus pro Boha / The Shepherd as the Anthropomorphism for God

Pospíšilová, Petra January 2022 (has links)
The aim of the diploma thesis "The Shepherd as the Anthropomorphism of God" is to clarify the role of the shepherd in antiquity and today and to present this knowledge in the use of the shepherd's anthropomorphism in biblical texts by means of literary research and comparison of texts, exegesis and reflection of own experience. In the introductory chapters we focus on the person of the shepherd, his characteristics, where special attention is paid to the shepherd's staff, as it also has an abundant biblical metaphorical use. The role of the shepherd in antiquity, in biblical texts and today is also discussed. Attention is also paid to the metaphor of the shepherd in ancient mythology, the use of this metaphor in various religious cults and its content. From a similar point of view, grazing animals are viewed, especially sheep, and special attention is paid to the role of the lamb in biblical texts. But we also talk about pigs and goats as pastoral animals. The following chapters first deal with anthropomorphisms in general, followed by chapters from specific biblical books where anthropomorphism is used. The texts are divided according to their inclusion in the Bible - first, Tanach texts are discussed, where the most common occurrence of anthropomorphisms is in the prophetic books. The next...

In the Net : The Visual and Verbal Rhetoric of the Campaign “Operation Dolphin Bycatch” by Sea Shepherd France

Wappelhorst, Annika January 2021 (has links)
The marine conservation organization Sea Shepherd is most known for its radical direct action, e. g., against whale poaching. This thesis examines the campaign “Operation Dolphin Bycatch,” coordinated by the French branch of the NGO, through discourse analysis and interviews with Sea Shepherd France (SSF) members. Dolphins serve as the flagship species of the campaign. They allow SSF to criticize non-selective fishing methods that cause the accidental killing of dolphins in the Bay of Biscay. With expressions from war and religion, SSF portrays the French government and most fishermen as enemies of the dolphins’ wellbeing that pursue self-interested profit values. It is found that SSF positions itself as radical more in its worldview than its approaches. The ecological philosophy of biocentrism contradicts the anthropocentrism that dominates society. In this campaign, the NGO uses “outsider” tactics: It exerts pressure on French policy-makers with footage of dolphin bycatch and takes great care to maintain international legitimacy by staying within legal boundaries.

Asteroids deflection using state of the art European technologies

Meunier, Arthur January 2015 (has links)
In public opinion, protection against asteroids impact has always been on the agenda of space engineering. Actually it started from 1994 when Shoemaker Levy stroke Jupiter. This protection works in two steps: detection of threat and deflection. Some space agencies and foundations monitor the sky and set up scenario. Although the sky is nowadays well monitored and mapped, there is no global plan nowadays against this threat. This paper focuses on the deflection step, and aims at forecasting which variables are involved and their consequences on the deflection mission. In fact the result depends on several factors, like the time before hazardous moment, the accuracy of detection tools, the choice of deflection method, but the most unpredictable are human factors. This study shows a strategy and so tries to give some new response parts to the global deflection problem.
