The transformations in the working processes, in consumption, in geographical configurations, and in the role of the State at the end of 20th century, open a new phase of the industrial mode of production as they are changing the fordist premises about production. In order to deal with these transformations, industrial enterprises passed by processes of productive restructuring that embraced the organization of production, labor relations, spatial strategies, the role of the State, and so on. This dissertation analyses the particularities of the process of productive restructuring in the shoe industry of Birigui-State of São Paulo, Brazil. We jumped to the conclusion that this process is permeated by changes inspired by toyotist model and by features of the old model. Another goal of this work was to understand how shoe industry begun at the city, and the connections of this economic activity with the process of industrial deconcentration in the state of São Paulo. Our historical research showed that the industrial development of the city is a typical case of endogenous industrialization articulated, however, with the process of interiorization of economic activities at the State of São Paulo. Finally, we verified that the city‟s industrial development was followed by the presence of external economies of location and urbanization

Product Development and Finite Element Analysis of Polyurethane Press Shoe : Produktutveckling och finit element analys av press-sko i polyuretan

Bergström, Mikael January 2021 (has links)
The press-section of a paper machine holds several different types of press rolls. One of the many press roll variants is the Valmet produced press roll, ViscoNip. This press roll utilizes an extended nip in order to increase the amount of water removed. The extended press nip in ViscoNip is special since it is controllable by a pressurized polyurethane press shoe. The press shoe runs through the body of the press roll. Due to limits of the current production process, new manufacturing methods and construction solutions are needed. In cooperation with another thesis, the current design and manufacturing process was reviewed and a plan intended to improve the current solution was formulated. The plan was to, by working together in a project, perform a product development process intended to create concepts able to utilize new methods of manufacturing. By using established methods of concept generation, such as Brainwriting 6-3-5, 11 concepts were created. Some of these concepts involved a redesign of the press shoe, leading to a need for construction and performance analysis. With the other thesis focusing on researching new possible and available manufacturing solutions. The work of this thesis fully committed to the structural and mechanical performance evaluation of the new concepts. This was performed by creating a model of the technical application using Finite Element Modelling in ABAQUS. The model included a hyperelastic material model for the polyurethane material as well as cohesive zone modelling to account for partitioning of the part. The model was then used to simulate the different concepts as they were subjected to a challenging load case. The results of which were used as the basis for structural and performance analysis. The analysis showed proof of sufficient structural stability and mechanical performance for all evaluated concepts. Then, in cooperation with the other thesis, a final concept choice was made. All in all, three different redesigned concepts were deemed as having potential for further development. The current solution was also deemed as having potential for future development but only when new manufacturing methods or techniques were considered.

EN JÄMFÖRELSE AV GÅNGMÖNSTER : GÅNGANALYS MED EN CANVAS TENNISSKO JÄMFÖRT MED EN SPORTSKO / A comparison of gait patterns - gait analysis with a canvas tennis shoe compared with a sport shoe.

Hultberg, Malin, Johansson, Nellie January 2020 (has links)
Background: In Sweden it is a general perception that a sports shoe is a better choice than a canvas tennis shoe for everyday use. Previous studies have investigated how different shoe models affect the gait, but none have studied the differences between sport shoes and canvas tennis shoes. Aim: Investigate how a shoe with unstable last and a flat insole (canvas tennis shoe) and a shoe with steady last, a sole with good shock absorbing and roll off (sport shoe) affect the mediolateral stability differently during stance. Methods: Gait analysis on five female participants. Kinetic and kinematic data collected with3D-modionanalysis system. Results: The range of motion differs more between participants than between shoe models. The sport shoe have a negligible lower range of motion than the canvas tennis shoe. Walking in sport shoe shows a more inverted gait than gait in canvas tennis shoe. Step length and stance time are the same in both shoe models. Conclusion: The range of motion and motion pattern of the foot in the coronal plane does not differ between canvas tennis shoes and sport shoes during stance phase, but the sport shoe has a more inverted motion.

The work of this thesis focusing on researching new possible and available manufacturing solutions. The new concepts were analyzed with new and possible manufacturing methods to fulfill all the requirements. With all data, a document was created and market research was made to get feedback from more knowledgeable in the subject. Moreover, sequence analysis between the concepts with the current and those new manufacturing methods was made to further explain which manufacturing method that could solve the main problem. All in all, one different redesigned concept was deemed as having potential for further development. The current solution was also deemed as having potential for future development but only when new manufacturing methods or techniques were considered.

Does the shoe type matter when prescribing custom-made foot orthoses? A comparison of peak plantar pressure in healthy subjects with custom-made foot orthoses in different shoe types.

Wennerholm, Erik, Gustafsson, Jenny January 2023 (has links)
Purpose: A common prescription in Prosthetic and orthotic clinics in Sweden is custom-made foot orthoses (CmFO). These must be placed in shoes. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the shoe type will have an impact on the effectiveness of CmFO regarding plantar pressure (PP).  Method: PP data was collected during gait from two healthy participants while wearing two pairs of different shoe types, a stable walking shoe and a flexible canvas shoe, with CmFO and original shoe insoles (OSI) respectively. The in-shoe F-scan system was used for data collection. Results: Going from canvas shoe to walking shoe showed reduced peak PP with around 40% in the forefoot and 27-50% in the heel. The walking shoe increased midfoot pressure >90% for both participants compared to the canvas shoe. The use of CmFO reduced the peak PP in the heel by 35-41% in the walking shoe and 9-44% in the canvas shoe.  Conclusion: The CmFO reduced peak PP in the heel and spread the pressure to the midfoot in both types of shoes but had bigger impact in the walking shoe. The walking shoe with OSI generated lower peak PP under the forefoot and heel than the canvas shoe with CmFO.

The Effects of Shoe Modification on Transverse Tibial Rotation

Trudelle, Elaine 08 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the amount of change in transverse tibial rotation at the knee achieved through the use of shoe modification. In addition, an attempt to evaluate the Q-angle dynamically through the stance phase to reflect changes in transverse tibial rotation was made. Ten male subjects were filmed as they ran on a treadmill at a 2.82 m/sec pace and transverse tibial rotation data was collected simultaneously from an affixed electrogoniometer at the knee joint. The subjects were tested under three conditions: 1) barefoot, 2) running shoe, and 3) shoe plus standard orthotic. The results of the study showed that an unprescribed, standard orthotic was ineffective in changing foot pronation and transverse tibial rotation at the knee. It also showed that there was no relationship between leg-heel alignment measurements of pronation and electrogoniometric measurements of transverse tibial rotation. Q-angle measurements could not be obtained from the film date due to difficulty in visualizing body landmarks.

Kvantifikace distribuce plantárních tlaků a geometrie přednoží v závislosti na charakteru obuvi / Quantification of plantar pressure distribution and geometry of forefoot according to the character of shoes

Mojcherová, Andrea January 2014 (has links)
Title: Quantification of plantar pressure distribution and geometry of forefoot according to the character of shoes Objectives: The main purpose of this thesis is to describe and verify the changes in the sole of the foot according to the style of shoe which are manifested by changes in the values of the maximum pressure, contact area, contact time and changes in pressure time integral. The next object is to verify the changes in forefoot geometry according to the style of shoes. Methodology: The sample consisted of 6 healthy women of average age 25 ± 1 year. All study participants reported wearing high-heeled shoes occasionally which means not more than twice per week. The measurement was realized with the Pedar-X in-shoe pressure measurement system (Novel) and motion capture system Qualisys. Results were analysed statistically using Wilcoxon test. Statistical significance was set at p < 0,05. Results: From the received data we could find out the changes that footwear causes in healthy people. The findings of this study indicate that the use of different style of shoes affect all measured parameters such as maximum pressure, contact area, contact time and pressure time integral. From the experiment evaluation, it is clear that the style of shoes may also affect the geometry of forefoot.
