A bola rolou: o velódromo paulista e os espetáculos de futebol (1895/1916) / The ball rolled: Velódromo Paulista and soccer events, 1895-1916

Gambeta, Wilson Roberto 21 February 2014 (has links)
Acompanhou a tumultuada constituição dos órgãos federativos em âmbito regional e nacional, mostrou que a partir da segunda década do século XX os espetáculos de futebol ganharam grande importância nas relações políticas nacionais e na diplomacia entre os países do Cone Sul / This is a study on the incorporation of sporting events in the city of São Paulo between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. Performances related to turf, cycling, and particularly to soccer are reviewed. The dissertation analyzes the historical transition of the individual sports, with bets being placed on disputes among athletic teams, based solely on merit. It also examines the importance of the stadium in terms of sociability, with a special focus on the Velódromo Paulista, a stadium for sports events, which existed in the neighborhood of Consolação between the years of 1895 and 1916. The universe of modern urban culture is related to the transformations which occurred within the elite families of rural origin, some of which demonstrated prominent co-operation in the organization of athletic events. The study drew attention to the role of sports in the process of modernization of urban lifestyle. It also examined the emergence of sports clubs as a civil society organization and the transformation of athletic associations, which originally consisted of boys, into associations for family socialization. The analysis highlighted the role of sports clubs as mediators between private home environments and the political party organizations. By monitoring the historical process of reinterpreting sports ethics imported from Europe, the author notes that soccer was disclosed in urban São Paulo as a conservative social pedagogy and performances took on the role of transmitting moral values upheld by the elite. He also observed the shortcomings of the relationship between the physical education in schools and the informal soccer games which took place throughout the city as well as the patronage of amateur soccer of the time. He revealed the appearance of professionalism covered up by the morale of amateurism. He monitored the tumultuous creation of federal agencies at a regional and national level, and indicated that as of the 1920s, soccer performances gained significant importance in national political relationships as well as with regard to diplomacy among the countries of the Southern Cone of Latin America

Eklöf, Rebeca, Jansson, Elin January 2018 (has links)
Cities hosting huge sporting events is a growing industry and is a way to market the city towards the rest of the world. The goal is for businesses to make profit, attract tourist and be seen on the global market. However, as its marketed towards external audiences, the locals and how they are affected are usually forgotten in the process. The purpose of this paper was to study the knowledge and what attitudes individuals living in Halmstad, Sweden, possess regarding the World Table Tennis Championship 2018, as well as how they received information regarding the event. To find the answers to our questions we handed out surveys in central Halmstad during the period the event took place. We compared our results with how they're tied to theories regarding place branding, image-identity-reputation and the knowledge-attitude-behavior model. The main findings of our analysis were that our respondents of Halmstad county was well- informed about the event and did not feel like they needed more information. The majority viewed the event in a positive light, and overall people found the event to be important for Halmstad as a city and destination.

Karlgren, Maria, Wingfors, Fabian January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this study, written in Swedish, is to study two of the most popular sportsevents in Sweden; Vasaloppet and Göteborgsvarvet (Gothenburg Half Marathon) and theaffect the events has on the host destinations and also how the organizers use the destinationsfor their development. The study also shows how municipalities and public authorities connected to destinationdevelopment handles these events for their own purpose in their destination marketing todevelop their destination and improve the destination image. To achieve the purpose of the study, the following research questions has been formulated:“How does the municipality work with these events to improve the development of thedestination?” and “How does Vasaloppet and Göteborgsvarvet affect the destinations and howdoes the race events use their destination for their development?”Big events related to tourism is often organized by independent actors without any supportfrom the government controlled authorities. Despite that, the municipality or governmentcontrolled organizations will always have an an impact on these big events since they providethe essential infrastructure, transport, etc.One of the tools used in this study is semi structured interviews with 19 different, for thecases, relevant people, including the leaders within the organizing committees of Vasaloppetand Göteborgsvarvet. Interviews has also been made with the municipalities and otherpartners to the organizers. As a complement to these interviews, we have also interviewed afew participants from the two races. The study is also complemented with media articles andother previous research in the subject. The study identifies a strong dependency between the organizers and destinations that goesboth ways. The conclusion clearly shows the needs of cooperation and support between all theinvolved organizations to be able to achieve the best possible result and development. Thestudy reveals how all the involved organizations cooperates and works in relation to eachother and what could be done in other ways to optimize the best conditions for development.

Analýza ekonomického a neekonomického dopadu konania MS v hokeji 2011 na Slovensku so zameraním na cestovný ruch. / The analysis of economic and non-economic impacts of organization of the 2011 IIHF World Ice Hockey Championship in Slovakia with emphasis on tourism

Vyšná, Kristína January 2011 (has links)
In the first part of this final thesis the theory of tourism events and their impact on the host destination is discussed, with particular focus on major sport events. Impacts are divided into two categories: economic and non-economic (socio-cultural, environmental, marketing impact and impact on infrastructure). These break into sub-categories and are described in detail. The second part of the thesis uses the theoretical knowledge outlined in part one to analyse the impact of a specific major sporting event -- the 2011 IIHF World Ice Hockey Championship that took place in Bratislava and Kosice in Slovakia. Emphasis is placed on analysing the effects the event had on the tourism sector in Slovakia. Having analysed both economic and non-economic impacts of the event, the thesis concludes that the overall impact of the event on the Slovak tourism sector was positive and the Slovak Republic can use this momentum in favour of further development of Slovak tourism sector.

Van Graan, Marteleze 26 August 2013 (has links)
The 2010 Fédération Internationale de Football Association’s (FIFA) World Cup (WC) would be the first time that a FIFA WC would be hosted on the African continent. This study was aimed at describing the South African City of Tshwane (COT) general volunteers’ experiences of volunteering at the 2010 FIFA WC. The FIFA Volunteer Programme consists of two groups of volunteers: Local Organising Committee (LOC) volunteers and each Host City (HC) volunteers. The COT volunteers are HC volunteers from the Tshwane Metropolitan Area (TMA). Volunteers are active in a variety of different contexts, namely in the community, volunteers at sport clubs or schools and also at mega sport events. Volunteers make it possible to host a mega sport event because they provide their time and effort without expecting remuneration or they receive a stipend amount. The existing literature of volunteers at mega sport events investigated what motivated volunteers to participate as well as how satisfied the volunteers were with the experience. The aim of this study was to describe COT general volunteers’ experiences of preparing (preparation phase) for the 2010 FIFA WC; COT general volunteers’ experiences during (participation phase) the 2010 FIFA WC, as well as the South African COT general volunteers’ experiences on their involvement (reflection phase) at the 2010 FIFA WC was described. The methodology employed in this study was Descriptive Phenomenology and the Duquesne Phenomenological Research Method was used to analyse the material. The differences between Descriptive Phenomenology and Interpretive Phenomenology were described. The material consisted of a written account as well as an interview, which was based on the essences that were portrayed in the written accounts. There were five participants — three spectator services volunteers and two rights protection volunteers. All of the participants were female. The findings of this study were divided into the preparation phase, participation phase and the reflection phase. In the preparation phase the COT general volunteers described two essences namely, the application process and training. In the participation phase the COT general volunteers experienced four essences namely, the working of shifts, interaction with volunteers, interaction with supervisors and lastly interaction with tourists. In the reflection phase the volunteers described two experiences, growth and value. This research project contributes to sport psychology because this study describes the experiences of volunteers at the 2010 FIFA WC. / Dissertation (MA)--University of Pretoria, 2012. / Psychology / unrestricted

As theoretical reference, it was considered the first generation of the school of Frankfurt, especially T.W. Adorno and M. Horkheimer. The study privileged the analysis of the cultural industry concepts, identification and competition. Empirical research was carried out in a traditional private school in the city of Jundiaí in São Paulo state - Brazil, with 53 students of the second year of high school (16 years old). The research aimed: 1 - To verify the frequency with that the students attend the main sporting events of television and activities that can have effect in their formation. 2 - To verify the adhesion to sports programs on TV. 3 - To verify if the adhesion to the sport programs on TV promotes the identification of the spectators with the athletes who are put in the headlines by the media. 4 - To verify if the sport programs on TV triggers competitive tendencies on the behaviour of the students who watch them. 5 - If there is a correlation among the adhesion to the cultural industry, identification and competition. The data was obtained from questionnaires and scales organized and tested for the specific purpose. After analyzing the data, constructing tables/charts and doing statistics tests, the results showed how the sports programs on TV, specially the cultural industry as a system, has an effect on the attitude building, comprehension and behavior of students during the physical education classes. The results did not allow us to confirm the totality of hypothesis presented. However they indicate that the pertinence of the cultural industry concept and that its ideology gets to schools. The dynamics carried out with videos show that there is a considerable influence from the media on the behavior of students during the classes of Physical Education in school. The tests sperman did not indicate correlation among the adhesion to the cultural industry, identification and competition. Thus, with the growth of the sports industry and consequent support of TV to the spectacle-sport, there is belief that this theme will encourage other research aiming to understand better their effects on physical education classes in schools and its implications on the formation of the being / ix POIT, D. R. Um olhar Frankfurtiano sobre o alcance da programação esportiva da televisão nas aulas de Educação Física escolar.
