En kartläggning av kompetenskraven på Sport managers

Thor, Jessica January 2008 (has links)

The purpose of this study is to survey which competences and personal qualities the labour market, for students with examination from the Coaching and Sport management education at Vaxjo University, require. Furthermore I want to find out if the employees, videlicet the ex students, consider that their competences differentiate in relation to other employees in the organization which not have this education.

In the study a qualitative investigation method has been used where ten interviews have been implemented. The interviews have been carried out within five conceivable work areas to a student with examination from the Coaching and Sport management education at Vaxjo University. The work areas are sports association, sports union, municipal activity with sport and leisure time connection, company with health care connection and company without any kind of sport connection. Five of the persons being interviewed are ex students that now are employees within any of the elected work areas. The remaining five interviews have been carried out with the employer of respective employees.

The result of the study shows that the work which the employees perform within respective work area are relatively different but are despite everything of similar characteristic and can be deduced to the work that is included in the profession of a Sport manager. Between the work areas that have any kind of sport or health care connection their is an obvious connection between which qualifications that is demanded to recruitment and which competences and personal qualities that are important within each profession to perform its work. An obvious connection is also made clear among the competence weaknesses that the employees have, despite different work.

In the analysis the result is compared with the chosen theories to support the interpretations that are made. There are also suggestions given about changes that can be valuable to take into consideration in future planning of the course contents within the education of Coaching and Sport management at Vaxjo University.
/

Suvanto, David, Tollsten, Jenny January 2023 (has links)
Aim: The aim of our bachelor thesis is to investigate how demands, perceived internal control and management’s support affect the own stressors, i.e. the feeling of stress in elite hockey players. Method: In the study we used a semi-structured interview technique. Eight qualitative interviews were conducted with players who play or played at an elite level and in some way spoke about their mental health in public. The selection was limited to SHL, Allsvenskan, Hockeyettan and SDHL. Results and conclusions: The results shows that hockey players, who are exposed to high demands, low opportunity for decision making and low support, has a strained work environment where mental illness occurs. The demands derive mostly from within but also from the surroundings. Low work-control derive from not being able to affect decisions, influence others decision-making and from injuries. The opinion about support differs in the study, but a conclusion is that there is a need for better education within sport management, regarding mental health. The results also show a stigma in the hockey culture, talking about mental illness. The problem with stigma is something for the leaders within sport management to work against, if they want to promote the mental health. Contribution of the thesis: An increased understanding of how tasks, demands, perceived control and support can appear in sport management. More organizational measures are needed to treat mental health e.g., education, collaborations, and guidelines for dealing with the subject. The mental health should be treated with equal importance as physical health. Suggestions for future research: Implementation of the model in a comparison between sport organizations, and between sport organizations in different countries. A comparison between female and male players. Supplementary studies to investigate the mental health of ice hockey players, where a different model is used.

Criação do Conhecimento intra e interorganizacional em organizações esportivas / Creation of intra and interorganizational knowledge in sports organizations

Arantes, Alexandre Ribeiro 03 December 2018 (has links)
São apontadas as limitações e sugestões para analisar aspectos não contemplados nesta pesquisa / Knowledge is one of the relevant aspects of the management of organizations from different sectors, with an impact on the maximization of organizational resources. Although the topic Knowledge Creation obtains recognition in the organizational market as a valuable source of competitive advantage, it is still incipient and little explored in management of sports organizations. In terms of scientific production, since 2016 there is a growing interest of scholars from other countries on the creation and management of knowledge in the segment of organizations and sports events, in Brazil, however, the theme is little explored. Given this scenario, the guiding question of the research was: How is the Knowledge Creation process carried out and how is this knowledge shared in sports organizations? The study is characterized as descriptive research and predominantly as a quantitative approach. A total of 27 olympic federations of São Paulo were studied through the application of a composite questionnaire, in addition to the Profile of study environment; by blocks that correspond to the knowledge creation process cathegories analyzed: Process of Creation of Knowledge; Information and knowledge flows; Conditions and factors that act in the Creation of Knowledge; Tools in support of the Creation of Knowledge, and Knowledge, learning and communication. The subjects of the research were managers and administrative employees of entities of different hierarchical levels. The results obtained from 48% of respondent federations revealed that the creation of concepts is carried out more frequently in formal and informal meetings, followed by the experiences acquired in the conduction and organization of the events, also listening to the members and other agents among them the coaches, athletes, Brazilian confederation of the sport, referees, among others. However, the same does not apply in the relationship with government agencies, seeking to import knowledge. With regard to the decisions to be made, they are carried out using previous data that allows forecasting trends and planning future scenarios, which can be identified in the investment in improvement of IT systems. The trainings are mostly offered to its external audience, and those related to the human resources of the internal environment are carried out on their own initiative. Less than half of the respondents stated that employees have autonomy with freedom of action for decisions, as well as being encourged in challenges and to be proactive and ambitious. The internal work teams containing collaborators from other areas were confirmed by half the respondents and there is practically no rotation of functions. The results allow us to assume that there are no actions or programs aimed at Knowledge Creation and Sharing. The analysis of the results suggest the need for \"change\" in the organizational culture, in the established routines, which prove to be standardized in the organizations studied. Limitations and suggestions to analyze aspects not contemplated in this research are pointed out

Administração de clubes de futebol profissional: proposta de um modelo específico de governança para o setor / Management of professional football (soccer) clubs: Proposal of a specific governance model for the sector

Marques, Daniel Siqueira Pitta 28 November 2014 (has links)
In general, Brazilian soccer clubs face financial and management problems. Good governance practices can be an answer to these problems since they aid in the administrative and financial restructuring of these organizations. On the other hand, some adaptations may be necessary in this process, due to the specificities of this business, mainly when it is thought that the traditional governance codes tend to be more suitable to publicly-held and profit-aiming corporations, while most of the Brazilian soccer clubs are, legally, associations. Having this in mind, the objective of the present study was to elaborate a specific model of good governance practices which is adequate to the organizational characteristics and to the environmental context of the professional soccer clubs. A qualitative, exploratory, applied and interdisciplinary research was carried out. In the first stage, a bibliographic research was carried out. The data collected in this research were used, in the second stage, as basis for the construction of the proposed governance model, using the comparative method. In the third stage, the proposed model was sent to experts, based on a semi-structured interview script. In the fourth stage, the data collected in this process were analyzed according to the content analysis method and adjustments were made to the model. Some of its practices (relative to the limitations in the right to vote) were verified in terms of acceptance within the main Brazilian clubs. The final version of the proposed model is divided into five main dimensions: organizational culture and management practices; financial sustainability, members rights; boards (advisory, deliberative and audit committee); and independent audit. The model created answered to the research problem by presenting adequate characteristics to this business, suggesting that, through adaptations made in traditional governance practices, a specific model for this particular business is feasible, tending to have some dimensions and practices common to the main governance codes. The results suggest the adequacy and applicability of the model, so it can be useful as subsidy for a possible regulatory normative milestone which comprises aspects related to the governance of professional soccer clubs.

Cultura organizacional e valores olímpicos: estudo de caso de uma ONG / Organizational culture and olympic values: an NGO case study

Sodré, Marina de Lima 31 March 2017 (has links)
The lack of studies on NGOs, sport and Organizational Culture in the country aroused the interest of this work, whose objective was to identify and describe the Organizational Culture (OC) of an NGO that carries out a socio-educational and sports program. The adoption of a pedagogical line based on Olympic Education manifests itself in aspects of the organization\'s OC. The research is characterized as exploratory and case study, with qualitative approach. The data were collected from documentary sources and through semi-structured interviews with the leadership of the entity and applied content analysis. The results pointed out that it is possible that the Organizational Culture of a sports entity is influenced by the cultural values and pedagogical aspects of the sport. The work has been limited to researching only one NGO and leaves as a suggestion for future studies and comparative studies
