The role of technology in adolescent dating violence and abuseStonard, K. E. January 2016 (has links)
The present research was undertaken to examine the role of Electronic Communication Technology (ECT) in Adolescent Dating Violence and Abuse (ADVA) or what has been termed Technology-Assisted Adolescent Dating Violence and Abuse (TAADVA) and potential correlates using a quantitative research design. This is the first detailed study of TAADVA that has been conducted with British adolescents in the United Kingdom (UK). A new set of questions to explore TAADVA was developed and piloted with adolescents using a robust framework. Adolescents (n = 469; 52% (n = 245) female; 59% (n = 277) who had past year dating relationship experience) aged 12-18 years recruited from secondary schools, youth clubs and via snowballing methods, completed a battery of questionnaires regarding their personal experience of TAADVA, physical and controlling ADVA, friend experience of ADVA and TAADVA, attachment style, relationship experience, and relationship closeness. It was found that TAADVA was prevalent (73% for victimisation and 50% for instigation across 12 types of behaviour) and was experienced via a range of ECT methods, often encompassing multiple behaviours. Although there was some overlap between ADVA and TAADVA, TAADVA was more prevalent than ADVA. Additionally, it was found that ECT appears to create new victims and/or instigators of TAADVA only as around two-thirds of adolescents who experienced TAADVA did not also experience ADVA offline. Adolescents reported experiences of TAADVA (and ADVA) victimisation and instigation. Females however, reported more sexual TAADVA victimisation (i.e. sexting pressure) and victimisation-only experiences of sexual TAADVA than did males. Females involved in TAADVA and ADVA reported having more friends with dating violence experience (as either victims or instigators). In contrast, only males who reported ADVA involvement reported having more friends who instigated dating violence. Avoidant attachment independently predicted TAADVA involvement for males, and further analysis revealed that TAADVA involved males reported higher avoidant attachment to a mother and friend than those not involved in TAADVA. Females involved in TAADVA reported higher avoidant attachment to a mother and father and this was also the case for ADVA in terms of anxious attachment. Furthermore, avoidant attachment to mother mediated the relationship between friend historical dating violence (victimisation and instigation) and self-reported TAADVA for females. Moreover, paternal anxious attachment mediated the relationship between friend current dating violence instigation and self-reported ADVA for females. Implications of the findings are discussed and recommendations are made for future policy, practice and research.

Uživatelské rozhraní pro řízení technologií / User Interface for Technology ControlZapletal, Filip January 2015 (has links)
This paper describes systems and user interfaces for monitoring and supervisory control of technological equipment. It describes basic approaches used to solve this problem, commonly used communication protocols and existing user interfaces. Based on those findings are defined requirements for design of a modern user interface for technology supervision and control, particularly in the area of clean and waste water distribution systems. The thesis concludes with a description of a user interface based on defined requirements and finally compares them with existing systems.

Analýza využití nových technologií pro vizuální komunikaci a jejich společenský dopad / Analysis of the use of new technologies for visual communication and their social impactKadlecová, Petra January 2012 (has links)
The work focuses on the analysis of new technologies, which are used in visual communication. This is especially the description, characterization and their use. Another section focuses on social trends that permeate contemporary Western society, and their relationship with new technologies in the field of visual communication. It deals therefore also examines the social changes and changes in the perception of individual development and dissemination of new technologies causes. Describes the important role of visual communication in today's world and the changes in society due to widespread use of modern technology. The aim is to make the analysis and therefore a comprehensive overview of new technologies and their use in the field of visual communication. Finally, the work seeks to estimate the next direction of new technologies in the field of visual communication and create a prediction of further development in the future.

The 1977 United States arms embargo against South Africa: institution and implementation to 1997Van Wyk, Martha Susanna 31 January 2005 (has links)
THE 1977 UNITED STATES ARMS EMBARGO AGAINST SOUTH AFRICA: INSTITUTION AND IMPLEMENTATION TO 1997 The institution and implementation of the 1977 mandatory United States arms embargo against South Africa and the impact thereof on relations between the United States and South Africa is investigated in this study. The investigation centers around the objectives of the United States in instituting the arms embargo, whether these objectives were met through the implementation and enforcement of the arms embargo, and whether the South African reaction to the embargo indicates the failure of the embargo to meet its objectives. The relation of the arms embargo to the foreign policy of the United States Government of the day, as well as the impact of the embargo on the South African military industry is discussed. The basis on which the problem statement is built is that close scrutiny of the implementation of the arms embargo would allow one to judge the seriousness that the United States assigned to the objectives of the arms embargo. The main objective of the embargo was to force the South African Government to abandon apartheid. Full compliance with the embargo would demonstrate the commitment of the United States to this objective, while non-compliance would be regarded by critics as a retreat from that objective. The United States’ implementation of the arms embargo would furthermore demonstrate the ability of major arms producers like the United States to reduce the threat of global violence by putting measures in place to successfully block arms and related items from being exported to potential belligerents. In conclusion to the study, it was found that the implementation of the embargo was linked to external objectives of the United States Government of the day. Thus, the strengthening or weakening of arms embargo regulations occurred according to the objectives that the Government of the day wanted to achieve. Nonetheless, the United States’ implementation of the arms embargo was generally very effective. It was also concluded that the arms embargo indeed acted as the main stimulant for the development of the world-renowned South African arms industry. This industry developed out of the determination of the white South African minority Government to remain in power, which in turn resulted in a defiant disregard for the arms embargo. Clandestine activities became the order of the day. These activities later had a major impact on the first democratically elected black government in South Africa. This government inherited a legacy of embargo violations, which led to much tension in relations with the United States in the first few years after the 1994 South African elections. The research therefore also paints a picture of the inherited struggles that the new South African Government had to face as a result of the arms embargo, and the resultant difficulties in normalizing relations with the United States. / Thesis (DPhil (History))--University of Pretoria, 2006. / Historical and Heritage Studies / unrestricted

Galerie letecké techniky a tradic letectví na letišti Medlánky v Brně / Gallery aviation technology and traditions of aviation at the airport Medlánky in BrnoNeveselá, Veronika January 2016 (has links)
The subject of my thesis is the project of Gallery aviation technology and traditions of aviation at the airport Medlánky in Brno. The project also includes urban solution of area airport in Medlánky and linking urban areas Medlánky and Komín by newly designed roads and walking paths. The area of airport consists of the two historic hangars and newly designed buildings for the servise and maintenance of aircraft, for the laboratories and the test room of aviation technology, from the control tower and the gallery aviation technology, in which there is also bistro-cafe. The building with gallery aviation technology formed a compact space for visitors with the other buildings, but at the same time the building is separated from the private area, where the planes are moving freely. In the building with gallery, there are besides the exhibition space designed also the bistro-cafe, areas for management and operation of gallery, technical and sanitary facilities, restoration workshop of historic aircraft, conference halls, meeting and training rooms, clubhouse and accommodation. The building serves as a curtural - public building, wheelchair accessible is available throughout the object.
