La televisió local a Catalunya: gestació, naixement i transformacions (1976-2005)

Guimerà i Orts, Josep Àngel 27 November 2006 (has links)
The doctoral thesis provides a description and analysis of the process of gestation at the late seventies, birth at the beginning of the eighties, and transformation of local television in Catalonia until the autumn 2005, when local Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) is implanted effectively in Catalonia. The thesis approaches to a complex process and provides, for the first time, a complete description of the evolution of the local television since its birth until the establishment of a new broadcasting technology of the television signal, the DTT.The thesis identifies and describes the changes occurred, what actors introduce them, and the vectors guiding the transformation of the local Catalan television. Likewise, the study provides interpretative elements allowing the understanding of these changes, the elements that made them possible and, therefore, why the object of study was gestated, born and evolved. In this sense, the thesis provides new elements, descriptive as well as interpretative, about local television regarding previous research on the phenomenon. The temporal dimension of the research undertaken allows to (re)locate, within the context of its evolution, the different moments and aspects of the object of study that have been previously studied.

Riera Ferran, Agnès 17 November 2003 (has links)
COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE USE OF SPORT IN TELEVISED PUBLICITY IN SPAINTowards the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st, an increase in sport habits in Spaniards has been observed. This is reflected in the media in general, although especially in the increase in time dedicated to sport in television and in the use of sport content in televised publicity, which is understood to be a strategy of communication within the process of entrepreneurial and institutional marketing. This research sought to find out how the advertising creators and media planners use sport in the creation and emission of televised publicity with athletic content and what changes have taken place over a period of four years (1998-2002).This analysis has included the observation and registration of 24,544 spots, with specific studies carried out on the sports with athletic content. The analysis was executed by interviewing advertising creators of some spots with registered athletic content. Finally, significant differences were detected between the years 1998 and 2002 with respect to: the intensity of emission of sports with athletic content by televised networks (TVE1, A3 TV, TV3, TVE2, Tele 5, Canal 33/K3), general characteristics of the emission of spots with athletic content for type of sample (for less-viewed time slots, for sport programs, and for special sporting events), specific characteristics of the sports with athletic content (athlete, sports, sport environment) and sport values that are emitted, with relation to the type of product or service advertised.Among the conclusions found is that knowledge of sport in televised publicity needs to be increased and in the media in general, due to the scientific void in this area; the large athletic events are reflected in the spots, although football dominates in recreational practice; the most utilized athletic value is success; sport tends to be used more and more frequently in spots.

Fernández Quijada, David 24 January 2008 (has links)
This thesis has three main objectives: a) from the concept of network, to propose new approaches to the analysis of cultural industries in the context of their transition to the digital environment; b) to enrich the cultural industries perspective with ideas from other knowledge areas such as sociology or geography; and c) to test this new theoretical framework with the application to a case study, television in Spain. The first part refers to methodology and theory. In the chapter number 1 we define the object of study and we try a first approach to the political economy of communication and other fields like social network analysis or economic geography. Later we explain our methodological approach, with its objectives, the phases of study and the questions of research. The second chapter investigates on the paradigm of cultural industries and its characterization from bibliographical sources in order to later expose its forces for changes in the digital environment and how these are changing the industry and its players. In the third chapter we explore the concept of network and its application to the cultural industries, defining the concept and characterizing it in the context of the industries of communication and culture. The next two chapters refer to the social network analysis (SNA) as a methodological tool for the application in the field of communication studies and the interrelation of geographical and economic factors, as well as the possibilities of its application in the field of cultural industries and the policies related to them. After this methodological framework, the second part of the research presents an application to a case study, Spanish television. It is studied in its national scope and the TV season 2004/05.The thesis is closed with a seventh chapter were the main conclusions of the analysis are presented and the researcher tries to answer the questions of research established at the beginning.

Bergés Saura, Laura 15 December 2004 (has links)
The thesis approaches an economic and financial analysis of who produces the television, how and why, in a time period of the changes from a public monopolized television state to a market and a private television, that occurred in Spain in the nineties. This analysis develops in three levels:-The economic and financial analysis of television enterprises in this process: The Public Spanish Television, and the three private televisions that emerged from the Private Television Law.-The analysis of the relation between television business and the rest of the communications industry.-And the analysis of the relationships between this television commercialization process, and the changes in the communication industry with the evolution of the politic, economic, and social environment. In the first part is introduced an economic and financial analysis of the televisions that includes the ownership structural analysis, the economic cycle analysis, the financial cycle analysis, and the final output -the television programming- of each enterprise, and the attached analysis compared of all televisions. In this first part, are placed the business dimensions related with the volume of the created income, assets investment, the amount of workers and the business structure, identifying the income sources, the weight of the different expenses, and the structure of investment. It is also identified the weight of the different factors in the financing of the television activity, assembling them by their activity and origin. There are also identified the stages in the process of commercialization and industrialization of the television activity, and their different types of business. These types of business are set depending on the income structure, the different options of dimension and combination of the factors of production, and the position that the enterprises take in the framework of the enterprises groups that are behind them.Television forms part of complex industry of communication that has received diverse denominations, from the informative industry to the authors that already talk of experience industry. In the chapter dedicated to the industrial analysis, are introduced some considerations about the subject, and a first approach to the dimensions of the industrial group. It is also analyzed the most direct competitive environment, formed by the rest of televisions that broadcast in Spain, the press, radio and the internet, and suppliers of audiovisual content. This description of this industrial environment is presented in four subparts: The supply and the competition, keeping in mind the degree of concentration and internationalization of each mean: the demand, in this case, the public and the advertisers; the providers, mainly providers of contents and production services; and the State intervention. The analysis of the industry environment forms the third level of analysis, that places the action of the televisions and the evolution of the communication industry in the economic, political and social context where they develop. Television commercialization is placed here in relation to the evolution of the Spanish economy, in relation to the general process of capitalist expansion towards new activities and new territorial markets. It also presents a panoramic view of the political evolution in the ninety's in Spain, keeping in mind the international context, and identifying the main elements of relation with the new design of private television and trading regulation. This process also bonds with the structure and the social changes in Spain in the nineties.

Producción cross-media: El caso de Televisió de Catalunya

Villa Montoya, María Isabel 21 March 2011 (has links)
The evolution of Internet and the technical development of digital media have extended audiovisual consumption to multiple platforms. Given these changes, there is a need to ask about transformations of organizations and production in broadcasters. The aim of this thesis is to find out how cross-media television production practices are developed, to determine their organizational implications and to evaluate the impact of digital technology in the multi-platform production process. Cross-media production is defined as a system of work created to facilitate functional interaction between individuals and tools in an organization. This interaction takes place through technical and cognitive resources that configure different networks. This research is the result of a case study over the 2007-2010 period of Televisió de Catalunya (TVC), a pioneer in Spain in terms of technological development, and an analysis of its programs Club Super3, 3xl.cat, Loops! and Ritmes.clips, which were selected for this study due to their being representative cases of multi-platform development. The results are presented in two sections that depict the problem at an organizational and production level in accordance with the theoretical perspectives of the Actor Network Theory (ANT) and organizational culture. The data were extracted from a study of the multi-platform offer and an ethnographic study that included participant observation, interviews and the analysis of documents. The overall analysis of TVC indicates that the organizational structure of the channel has not been greatly altered by the assumption of tasks that require cross-media production because a large amount of the work has been derived from other subsidiary companies of the Corporació Catalana de Mitjans Audiovisuals (CCMA). In relation to the multi-platform services and contents offered, we have noted that Internet plays a central role, teletext has barely developed and the progress of interactive applications for Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) has been suspended, and that the specific content for mobile phone consumption is still at an embryonic stage. We have discovered that organizational culture in the new cross-media environment is undergoing transformation, in which socially manifested values have yet to be totally incorporated in the assumptions of professionals or the general order of production. The analysis of the creation of programs shows that there is no cross-media production system as such, but rather various and ever-changing ones, in accordance with the inherent configurations and circumstances of each case. The study of programs has made it possible to detect three different ways of undertaking cross-media production in terms of the configuration of its groups, its coordination mechanisms and its production flows, which we have called concentrated, mixed and dispersed production networks. In terms of the level of association between the teams that participate in the production, we have found three levels of association: interaction, cooperation and integration. The first describes a flow of information through uncoordinated, unintentional and involuntary tasks. The second refers to a coordinated, intentional and voluntary association between teams and the third occurs on the basis of a coordinated, intentional and voluntary complementary relation throughout all phases of the product, from the creation of the content until it is broadcast.

Canosa Farran, Francesc 03 June 2005 (has links)
The objective of this thesis is to describe and reveal the birth of the television that was dreamt of by society and journalism in Catalonia during the Second Republic (1931-1936), as well as the attempts made to consolidate it. These wishes and television experiments can be seen through the information and news, related to television, found in the Catalan press published in Barcelona. Information provided by a society and a style of journalism that was excited about discovering new realities and that had a much closer and more direct contact with reality. Therefore, that society and that journalism are inseparable from the television dream that, with the Spanish Civil war (1936), would end up turning into a metaphor of Catalonia.

Izard Martínez, Natàlia 15 September 1999 (has links)

Jiménez Morales, Manel 25 February 2011 (has links)
The aim of this PhD dissertation is to analyze a narrative paradox: how to deal with a drama series story – which should be allegedly a potential infinite tale – when this drama is pressured by an apocalyptic end. The presence of this finale should avoid this ability to defer the story sine dia; nonetheless, that controversial relationship seems to be reliable and absolutely needed in some North American production series, that have as a background the paranoic feeling recalled by the September 11 attacks. To this goal, this research studies the narrative and aesthetic elements which contribute to the serial construction of the following television dramas: 24 (Fox, 2001, Robert Cochran and Joel Surnow), Prison Break (Fox, 2005, Paul Scheuring) and Heroes (NBC, 2006, Tim Kring). This text is divided in three chapters, which concern to three concepts; these three items integrate the main features of the drama series architecture in their wider meaning. Firstly we would like to stress the concept Saturation to define the elements that set up narrative complexity in these series. From this point of view, we analyze the mutual contribution of the television drama series, their hybridisation and their growing plots. The second section, Fragmentation, also begins with the out of time chronology, typical from these series. The spreading plot and the fight against the clock – also other subject issues - lead the stories to a constant fracture, in a structural meaning, but also in metaphorical or literal ones. Finally, the race against the clock makes the story dependent on a certain Simultaneity. That implies to use all sort of technological resources to explain the communication between characters and plots, as an extension of a spying eye. Saturation, Fragmentation and Simultaneity will be three factors that will help to understand the postmodern behavior of the new television dramas.

Ètica i televisió informativa.

Alsius, Salvador 12 November 1996 (has links)
The study is part of an investigative approach based on the hypothesis that deontological codes contain a substantial part of the ethical values and standards which apply to the journalism profession. The methodology used consisted of a Comparative Study: an exhaustive "thesaurus" was prepared of the different items constituting the baggage of ethical problems which arise in the exercise of journalism in general and more particularly in the audio-visual media. For each item is presented an explanation of the status of the question on the subject and afterwards a list is prepared and a comparison of the standards make up the different codes constituting the body of the research. This analytical task is surrounded by a theoretical reflection on the bases of journalistic ethics and is supplemented by the author's personal experience in the field of television reporting.
