El uso de los ritmos afrocaribeños para la construcción de propuestas musicales de jazz en Latinoamérica (1940 – 1965) / The use of Afro-Caribbean rhythms for the construction of jazz musical proposals in Latin America

Rabanal Cáceres, Ricardo 09 October 2020 (has links)
The United States is the place of origin of jazz, it can be said that this is geographically true, but not culturally, since it must be taken into account that this genre was formed with black musicians in a context of very radical racial segregation, also adding to Latino migrants who contributed part of their culture to the music of the time. The objective of this study is to give the value it deserves to the true roots of jazz, the Afro-Caribbean influence. To this end, the research question is the following: What and how were the Afro-Caribbean influences on jazz musical proposals from 1940 to 1965? The research question is answered through the cultural, historical and musical analysis of various musical genres that would be the basis for creating jazz, in addition, Latin jazz will also be taken into account, which would come to be the fusion of Afro-Caribbean rhythms with jazz, also going through the rise of rock, which is also linked to this issue, to finally move on to salsa. Taking this into account, it is concluded that much of Western music had Afro-Caribbean influence for the development of its musical genres, such as jazz, boogaloo, rock & roll, and rock. Since Afro-Caribbean has relied heavily on oral tradition, additional research could be carried out that includes testimonies from the people involved in the development of these genres.

Ulloa Trujillo, Flor Marina 30 March 2021 (has links)
Nowadays smalls and mediums enterprise (SME) of construction have a highly global competitive. In addition, they do not have methodologies of budget control, for lack knowledge or interest. So, introduction of methodologies and techniques for management your projects are much significate, getting better competitive and profit-earning capacity, and stay in the construction industry. For the costs control, we have technique of Earned Value (EV), represents a practice good in the project’s management, so that a Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® guide) 6ta Edition, define as tool management to monitoring and controlled a project. The objective the present work is development an application methodology of earned value for a project construction water drinking and sewerage service. Where the application of process planning, executing, monitoring and controlling of earned value, emphasizing with much important, the integration of scope, schedule and cost of project, establishing as result the performance measurement baseline (PMB) approved to manage and control project performance. The methodology application of Earned Value EV technique, in summary that can getting data necessary to improve or correct the performance in a project. Even though that the indicator SPI, have a disadvantage, this has disadvantages in the phases project end, and to overcome it, complement with earned schedule technique. With the results, conclude the procedures adopt not need big changes in the politics and structures organization of enterprise. / Trabajo de investigación

Evaluation of Traffic Incident Timeline to Quantify the Performance of Incident Management Strategies

Haule, Henrick Joseph 01 January 2018 (has links)
Transportation agencies are introducing new strategies and techniques that will improve traffic incident management. Apart from other indicators, agencies measure the performance of the strategies by evaluating the incidents timeline. An effective strategy has to reduce the length of the incident timeline. An incident timeline comprises various stages in the incident management procedure, starting when the incident was detected, and ending when there is the recovery of normal traffic conditions. This thesis addresses three issues that are related to the traffic incident timeline and the incident management strategies. First, co-location of responding agencies has not been investigated as other incident management measures. Co-location of incident responders affects the incident timeline, but there is a scarcity of literature on the magnitude of the effects. Evaluation of the co-location strategy is reflected by the response and verification durations because its effectiveness relies on improving communication between agencies. Investigation of the response and verification duration of incidents, before and after operations of a co-located Traffic Management Center (TMC) is done by using hazard-based models. Results indicate that the incident type, percentage of the lane closure, number of responders, incident severity, detection methods, and day-of-the-week influence the verification duration for both the before- and after- period. Similarly, incident type, lane closure, number of responders, incident severity, time-of-the-day, and detection method influence the response duration for both study periods. The before and after comparison shows significant improvements in the response duration due to co-location of incident response agencies. Second, the incident clearance duration may not necessarily reflect how different types of incidents and various factors affect traffic conditions. The duration at which the incident influences traffic conditions could vary – shorter than the incident duration for some incidents and longer for others. This study introduces a performance measure called incident impact duration and demonstrates a method that was used for estimating it. Also, this study investigated the effects of using incident impact duration compared to the traditionally incident clearance duration in incident modeling. Using hazard-based models, the study analyzed factors that affect the estimated incident impact duration and the incident clearance duration. Results indicate that incident detection methods, the number of responders, Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations, traffic conditions, towing and emergency services influence the duration of an incident. Third, elements of the incident timeline before the clearance duration have been overlooked as factors that influence the clearance duration. Incident elements before the clearance duration include verification time, dispatch duration, and the travel time of responders to the incident scene. This study investigated the influence of incident timeline elements before clearance on the extent of the clearance duration. Also, this study analyzed the impact of other spatial and temporal attributes on the clearance duration. The analysis used a Cox regression model that is estimated using the Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) penalization method. LASSO enables variable selection from incidents data with a high number of covariates by automatically and simultaneously selecting variables and estimating the coefficients. Results suggest that verification duration, response travel duration, the percentage of lane closure, incident type, the severity of an incident, detection method, and crash location influence the clearance duration.

The centrality of Jesus Christ in God's acts of creation, reconciliation, renewal and fulfilment : the views of John Calvin and Ellen G White

Jones, Patrick Patrese 05 1900 (has links)
In John Calvin and Ellen G White’s sense making approaches God’s act of redemption and reconciliation in and through Jesus Christ takes the centre stage in the foursome of God’s acts expressed in the biblical historical timeline as creation, reconciliation in Jesus Christ, renewal through the Holy Spirit and fulfilment at the end of time. While the 16th century Calvin emphasised God’s acts of creation and reconciliation in Christ more than God’s acts of renewal and fulfilment, the 19th century White’s emphasis was more on God’s acts of reconciliation in Christ and fulfilment at the end of time than on creation and renewal through the Spirit. With all the differences in their sense making approaches their central perspectival focus in their writings, sayings and doings is the way God and humanity, heaven and earth are closely connected in a unity without being fused and mixed in Jesus Christ. Their central christological theme of ‘God staying God’ and ‘human staying human’ in an interactional substantialist sense in Christ designates the great alternative view that differs on the one hand, from the view of the trans-substantialist option in which the human being Christ Jesus is in a sacramental-sacred way transformed into ‘a divine human being’ –, and on the other hand, the view of the consubstantialist option in which the human being Jesus is permeated and diffused by his divinity, thereby becoming ‘the human God.’ Calvin and White in their reflection operating within the realm of divine historicity that is staying within the biblical historical timeline from Genesis to Revelation were viewed by many as not theologians in the real sense of the word. Calvin and may be to a greater extent White worked and contributed to the new and emerging field of Faith Studies in which a theologian or theorist of faith cannot reflect on God, human beings or the natural cosmic world in three separate avenues as was commonly the case with speculative and scholastic theologies in history. White’s Faith Studies contribution is in the global arena of theology where the omnipresent ‘–logies’ of mainline church theologies such as Christology, Ecclesiology, Pneumatology and Eschatology hold sway.

Att växa med Lean : En fallstudie av utvecklingen av Lean under en längre period i en organisation / To grow with Lean : A case study of the development of Lean over an extended period in an organization.

Ayoub, Manahel, Hilda, Sjöholm January 2023 (has links)
Title: To grow with Lean Background: Lean is a method of operational management aimed at reducing waste in the form of time and costs, as well as improving efficiency within an organization. Since its introduction by Toyota in the 1950s, Lean has been discussed from various perspectives, namely continuous improvement and the advantages and disadvantages of Lean. The former perspective often focuses on Lean in the context of product development and change processes. The latter, more common discussion about Lean, revolves around the method's pros and cons. There is often a debate regarding Lean in a positive light, highlighting its main advantages, such as promoting efficiency within a company. On the other hand, Lean is described as a complex concept, with the description of the term considered ambiguous by several sources. Purpose: The purpose of this essay is to enhance the understanding of how the development of Lean utilization evolves after several years within the organization. By gaining insight into the critical factors that may arise, one can acquire an understanding of the challenges that may potentially emerge when Lean has been present in an organization for an extended period. Method: The study is a case study that examines the development of Lean utilization over an extended period and the critical factors that arise during this time in a company. The study adopts a qualitative research strategy with an inductive research process, where the empirical data has been collected through six semi-structured interviews. Conclusion: The development of Lean can be described as a timeline consisting of the phases of Gap, System, Birth, Youth, Lifelong Project, Growth, Human, and Crisis, where the Crisis phase can occur at any point along the timeline. Critical factors for sustaining Lean in an organization over an extended period include engaged leaders  working closely with employees, educating employees about the purpose of Lean, and understanding that Lean is an ongoing project where adaptation never ceases. Additionally, a critical factor is to avoid excessive bureaucracy and continue empowering employees to make decisions. Focusing solely on individual Lean tools and failing to see Lean from a holistic perspective is also a critical factor. Lastly, creating employee involvement and participation is crucial.

Large, strongly connected amounts of data, as collected in knowledge bases or those occurring when describing software, are often read slowly and with difficulty by humans when they are represented as spreadsheets or text. Graphical representations can help people to understand facts more intuitively and offer a quick overview. The electronic representation offers means that are beyond the possibilities of print such as unlimited zoom and hyperlinks. This paper addresses a framework for visualizing connected information in 3D-space taking into account the techniques of media design to build visualization structures and map information to graphical properties.
