The Evolution of the E-Commerce System of China Steel Corp.: A Technological Frame Analysis

Lu, Shut-Ming 19 July 2002 (has links)
Abstract This study is to discuss CSC electronic commerce development and application model under a structure of technological frame theory. The result shows consistency in the interpretations given by the three groups of stakeholders (managers plus salesmen, information technology staff, and clients) on CSC electronic commerce system's nature of technology, technology strategy and technology-in-use (timeliness, accuracy, accessibility and ease-of-use). Though there is a little inconsistency in their interpretations on categories like priorities and resources, training, contents and policies for security and quality, it doesn't cause a conflict. The most influential frame ¡V dominant frame ¡V generated from the top management's dominant leadership and the clients' high confidence and centripetal force in CSC are main reasons for the three groups of stakeholders to have a strong recognition. Another important discovery of this study is that trust and interpersonal relationship have crucial influence on CSC electronic commerce system implementation. In the future, researchers may try to adopt the perspectives of trust and interpersonal relationship to discuss their influences on information technology implementation.

Spates, Kamesha Sondranek 17 February 2005 (has links)
The online dating industry is estimated to be worth 1.5 billion dollars. The growing trends in technology have resulted in African Americans logging on to the Web at astonishing rates. Therefore, the goal of this research project is to evaluate dating orientated interaction in the context of virtual communities. The theoretical perspective of this thesis is that of the concept of trust, and I examine the role that trust has on dating oriented interaction in the context of virtual communities. This study utilizes both ethnographic qualitative research methods along with the survey research method to explore the topic of African Americans and their use of the Internet as a tool to find “quality or compatible dates”. This study also provides an examination not only of dating patterns among African Americans via the Internet, but it also provides an examination of the role that technology plays in creating and mediating dating trends. An additional interest is to evaluate dating orientated interaction in the context of virtual communities.

Lin, Wen-jiun 13 February 2008 (has links)
Since Jorn Barger advanced the new noun, weblog, in 1997, until now blog has become one of necessary web services for almost everyone besides email. Friendly interface increases personal channel. And also, blog readers¡¦ trust information in blogs. They believe content in blogs is more useful than traditional mass media. Such trust has important impact not only on traditional mass media, but also on individuals, politics, business, society and so on. However, the appearance of fake blogs has challenged readers¡¦ trust toward blogs, thus shows the importance of trust in this wave and becomes one of the issues which can not be ignored. This study attempts to realize the relation between readers¡¦ trust and their trust related behaviors, trust constructors, and observe the moderating role of blog categories in this relationship. According to the result of literature review, this study takes ¡§competence¡¨, ¡§integrity¡¨, ¡§benevolence¡¨, and ¡§familiarity¡¨ as for major constructors of trust, and develops questionnaire from readers¡¦ angle. Quantity research method was used by distributing online questionnaire to observe whether readers have such personal behaviors as ¡§information dependence¡¨, ¡§follow advice¡¨, and ¡§recommendation¡¨. This study discovered that trust does have obvious impact on readers¡¦ trust related behaviors. Nevertheless, exclude integrity doesn¡¦t have significant impact on readers¡¦ recommendation behavior, the other constructors all have different importance in different blog categories. Competence is the most important constructor, but its influence is smaller than the negative impact of benevolence in master blog type. Benevolence has significant negative impact, especially in blogs which evaluate personal style. The impact of familiarity on readers to recommend others is greater than on readers¡¦ personal behaviors, but its impact on readers¡¦ personal behavior does not reach significant standard in information sharing blog type.

Chao, Te-tung 24 July 2008 (has links)
Alliance has become a necessary part of firms¡¦ strategy due to fast-paced diffusion of technologies, rising costs and protectionism. While the forms of strategy alliances evolve from simple contracts into multiple cooperation modes, factors needed to be considered are also gaining amount. Different kinds of strategy alliances possess different kinds of pros and cons, and will have effect on integration of resources and techniques. This research aims at analyzing whether the property of knowledge, firms¡¦ capacity and partner relations had effect on the selection of the strategy alliance modes. This study also formed a questionnaire survey which empirically tested the hypotheses set up in the study with data from public offering electronic firms. The results are indicating that contractual alliances are more likely to be formed when the absorptive capacity and risks are high, which are supported by numerous papers. The reason is that the strategy alliance is a channel of knowledge transferring, and higher the potential of gaining knowledge, then easier the process would be ¡V no resource-committing equity alliances are needed. The risk part is talking similar story: while risks are high, firms tend to serve contract as a tool of controlling loses. The level of implicit and complexity of knowledge are also positively related with the preference of committing equity alliances. The reason is that these kinds of alliances would serve better for firms to cooperate with each others and to transfer complex and tacit knowledge easier

Employing Trust Network for Recommendation in e-Commerce

Chen, Lung-Shian 28 July 2008 (has links)
Living in the information-overloading age, many people find it difficult to assimilate the information and to identify resources they need. As to a consumer, browsing, searching, and buying a product on online stores is often a time-consuming and frustrating task with the flourishing development of e-commerce. Many shoppers who are interested in buying products on E-commerce websites end up finding nothing they want. Therefore, many E-commerce websites have implemented recommender systems that intend to provide consumers with personalized recommendations for various types of products and services. Some recent research has taken into account social influence in recommender systems in E-commerce. These recommender systems have been observed to achieve better accuracy of prediction, and have also overcome some of the problems of the previous methods. In this study, we propose a trust network-based recommendation framework that utilizes the trust relationship between users to generate recommendation. We employ PageRank algorithm for trust matrix adjustment and recommendation. In addition, we propose several assumptions that can be used to construct trust matrix, and we verify them by experiments. We finally identify two approaches for adjusting trust matrix. Bases on the trust and rating data collected from Epinion.com, we exercise several alternatives and evaluated many combinations of trust matrix adjustment and recommendation methods. Our experiment evaluation results show that using different pagerank for different users groups can generate better recommendation results. Moreover, we proposed a best hybrid method that achieves the best performance.
