THE “OTHER” EXCERPTS — A GUIDE TO COMMONLY PROGRAMMED BUT UNCOMMONLY ASKED-FOR CELLO EXCERPTS

Chen, Chen January 2022 (has links)
This paper aims to assist cellists taking orchestral auditions by providing a detailed analysis of how to approach orchestral excerpts that, while standard, are not as commonly encountered in audition settings. The excerpts are Beethoven: Symphony No. 9 (II. Molto vivace and IV. Presto); Brahms: Variations on a Theme by Haydn (Variation V. Vivace); Mahler: Symphony No. 2 (I. Allegro maestoso); Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5 (I. Moderato–Allegro non troppo); and lastly Bartók: Concerto for Orchestra (V. Finale). Each excerpt is organized into individual chapters containing comments and suggestions on basic technical and musical performance challenges. I provide detailed and structured advice for practicing the above excerpts, offer advice on musical refinement, and address alternative musical interpretations based on recordings sampled. This provides a framework for the practice of aspiring orchestral cellists. Forming good practice habits and developing a personalized practice routine when facing new excerpts (or other music) is crucial to orchestral audition preparation, and my goal is to provide cellists with the tools necessary to do this. / Music Performance

The present study investigates the literary style of Murilo Rubião, whose work is considered by the critic as fantastic literature. After reading all the author’s short stories, having a deep look into his critical fortune and having critical-theoretical reading of fantastic literature, from its beginnings up to contemporary times, we concluded that his narratives correspond with the trivialized uncommon. Keeping this concept in perspective, we focused our research on the comparative analysis both extrinsic and intrinsic of three versions of the short story “The ex-magician of Minhota Tavern”, basing, respectively, on the theory of liquid modernity from Zigmunt Bauman, on the literary stylistic from Damaso Alonso and on portuguese language stylistic from Nilce Sant’Ana Martins. Other important bibliography sources to such stylistic analysis are the work of linguist José Lemos Monteiro and grammarians José Carlos de Azeredo e Napoleão Mendes de Almeida. Hence, we concluded that the writer Murilo Rubião not only anticipated characteristics of contemporary society in his work – such as the dilution of the subject identity – but also reflected about the very role of literature.

Drobná architektura v táborské krajině a její nové poslání / Small architecture in Tábor region and its new mission

JÍRŮ, Petra January 2009 (has links)
In this dissertation we seized less conspicuous attractions which are situated in the choice locations of Tábor landscape. We endeavoured to discover other possibilities of utilization of the chosen destination, despite our initial impression that the destination was fully used. The most important task of this thesis was to analyze natural, historical and natural interests of this region. After detailed research/analyzes/discussions we discovered that there are a lot of ``hidden{\crq}q attractions in the locality. These attractions deserve their renewal and more attention from their visitors. On the base of information were created suggestions and recommendations for development of this destination.

McKibbenův pneumatický sval - modelování a použití v hmatovém rozhraní / Modelling and Using of McKibben Pneumatic Muscle in Haptic

Kopečný, Lukáš January 2009 (has links)
This work describes exceptional properties of McKibben pneumatical muscle and introduces its state-of-the-art model. The mathematical model is extended especially in a field of a thermodymical behavior. A new model applies a method used for describing of a thermodynamical behavior of pneumatic cylinders until now. This method is significantly upgraded to fit a muscle behavior, particularly by considering a heat generated by a muscle internal natural friction. The model is than verified and discussed with a real system. The haptic part introduces a development and design of a haptic glove interface for the use in robotics, especially in telepresence, or in VR. The force and touch feedback is provided by Pneumatic Muscles controlled by an open loop algorithm using the introduced mathematical model. The design is light and compact.
