O órgão de vom Rath localiza-se na extremidade distal do terceiro artículo do palpo labial e é uma das sinapormorfias reconhecidas para os lepidópteros (Insecta: Lepidoptera). O conhecimento sobre a morfologia estrutural e histológica desse órgão é ainda bastante escasso. Descreve-se a estrutura com auxílio de microscopia eletrônica de varredura e a histologia do órgão de vom Rath para quatro espécies de Nymphalidae, três frugívoras: Fountainea ryphea (Charaxinae: Anaeini), Morpho helenor achillaena (Satyrinae: Morphini) e Hamadryas epinome (Biblidinae: Ageroniini), além da espécie nectarívora Aeria olena (Danainae: Ithomiini). Documentaram-se diferenças significativas entre as espécies com relação ao formato da cavidade, morfologia e disposição das cerdas, forma e localização da abertura, organização dos grupos celulares associados, tipo de axônio e grau de desenvolvimento. Tais diferenças não parecem estar relacionadas aos hábitos alimentares. Por sua vez, não foram encontrados grupos celulares em Actinote thalia (Heliconiinae: Acraeini) e Heliconius erato phyllis (Heliconiinae: Heliconiini), sendo que a ausência do órgão de vom Rath é documentada pela primeira vez no clado Ditrysia. É proposta uma terminologia para melhorar o entendimento da morfologia do órgão de vom Rath, com análise crítica das descrições realizadas por outros autores. / The vom Rath\'s organ is located at the distal end of the third joint of labial palpi and is one of the recognized synapomorphies of Lepidoptera (Insecta). The knowledge about the structural and histological morphology of this organ is scarce. The structure is described using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and histology for four species of Nymphalidae, three frugivorous: Fountainea ryphea (Charaxinae: Anaeini), Morpho helenor achillaena (Satyrinae: Morphini) and Hamadryas epinome (Biblidinae: Ageroniini), besides the nectarivorous species Aeria olena (Danainae: Ithomiini). Significant differences were recorded among species in relation to the shape of the cavity, morphology and arrangement of the setae, shape and location of the opening, organization of the associated cell groups, type of axon and degree of development. Such differences do not seem to be related to eating habits. No cell groups were found in Actinote thalia (Heliconiinae: Acraeini) and Heliconius erato phyllis (Heliconiinae: Heliconiini), and the absence of the vom Rath\'s organ is documented for the first time in the Ditrysia clade. A terminology is proposed for a better understanding of the morphology of the organ, with a critical analysis of the previous descriptions.

A problemática da autoria tem ganhado uma nova roupagem na contemporaneidade. Não se pode mais reconhecer o poder e a influência que o autor outrora exercia sobre suas produções artísticas, pois a sua identidade como tal se confunde com a da "pessoa real". Essa questão da identidade autoral será discutida e problematizada através da figura do duplo. O tema do duplo, tão caro à história da literatura será então empregado como elemento desconstrutor da figura do autor. Esse deixará de ser aquele que carrega consigo uma série de expectativas e juízos de valor com relação ao conjunto de suas produções, dando lugar ao um outro - o duplo -, estranho ao leitor. Assim, cabe a questão do que restará quando a marca do autor for esvaziada, quantas serão as vozes que abrirão caminho ao discurso narrativo e o que irá caracterizar a figura do autor contemporâneo. São estas as questões que impulsionaram a redação da presente dissertação. Neste trabalho será analisada a questão da autoria e da identidade a partir da figura do duplo em dois romances contemporâneos, a saber: Budapeste de Chico Buarque de Hollanda e Vom Dorf de Antje Rávic Strubel. A escolha de um romance brasileiro e de outro alemão visa explicitar que a problemática da autoria é uma questão atual e que encontra expressão em diferentes contextos literários, como o alemão e o brasileiro. A questão é complexa e encontra desdobramentos nas novas formas de comunicação e tem relação direta com o processo de globalização. Iremos fazer um recorte transversal abordando a história do desenvolvimento do duplo na literatura, suas origens, os romances nos quais se manifestam suas diferentes expressões. Em seguida adentraremos o terreno movediço da problemática da identidade sempre tendo como foco a visão diacrônica da questão e em por fim apresentaremos a constituição histórica da figura do autor e suas implicações para a crítica literária. Num outro momento verificaremos como esses elementos são expressos nos romances em questão / The issue of authorship has gained a new look nowadays. We can no longer recognize the power and influence that the author once had on their artistic productions, as its identity merges with the "real person". This question of authorial identity is discussed and analyzed through the figure of the double. The theme of the double, so dear to the history of literature is then used as a deconstructive element of the figure of the author. This will no longer be one that carries a lot of expectations and judgments with respect to all of their productions, giving place to another - the double - strange to the reader. Thus, it is the question of what is left when the signature of the author is emptied, how many are the voices that will pave the way to discourse and narrative that will characterize the figure of the contemporary author. These are the issues that prompted the writing of this dissertation. This work will examine the question of authorship and identity from the figure of the double in two contemporary novels, namely: Budapeste by Chico Buarque de Hollanda and Vom Dorf by Antje Rávic Strubel. The choice of a Brazilian novel and other German states explicitly that the issue of authorship is a topical issue which is expressed in different literary contexts, such as Germany and Brazil. The issue is both complex and developments in new forms of communication and is directly related to the globalization process. We will make a cross-sectional addressing the developmental history of the double in literature, its origins, the novels which reveal their different expressions. Then we enter the quagmire of problems of identity always focusing on the diachronic view of the matter and finally introduce the historical figure of the author and its implications for literary criticism. At another time we will check how these elements are expressed in the novels in question

Natural fibers have drawn attention of researchers as an environmentally-friendly alternative to synthetic fibers. Developing natural fiber reinforced bio-composites are a viable alternative to the problems of non-degrading and energy consuming synthetic composites. This study focuses on (i) the application of kenaf fiber as a potential reinforcement and, (ii) determining the tensile properties of the randomly oriented short kenaf fiber composite both experimentally and numerically. Kenaf fiber micro-structure and its Young's modulus with varying gage length (10, 15, 20, and 25.4 mm) were investigated. The variation in tensile strength of kenaf fibers was analyzed using the Weibull probability distribution function. It was observed that the Young's modulus of kenaf fiber increased with increase in gage length. Fabrication of randomly oriented short kenaf fiber using vacuum bagging techniques and hand-lay-up techniques were discussed and the tensile properties of the specimens were obtained experimentally. The tensile modulus of the composite sample at 22% fiber volume fraction was found to be 6.48 GPa and tensile strength varied from 20 to 38 MPa. Numerical models based on the micro mechanics concepts in conjunction with finite element methods were developed for predicting the composite properties. A two-step homogenization procedure was developed to evaluate the elastic constants at the cell wall level and the meso-scale level respectively. Von-Mises Fisher probability distribution function was applied to model the random orientation distribution of fibers and obtain equivalent modulus of composite. The predicted equivalent modulus through numerical homogenization was in good agreement with the experimental results.
