[pt] O trabalho tem o objetivo de resgatar a experiência da reforma curricular elaborada pela Secretaria Municipal de Educação do Rio de Janeiro entre os anos de 1983 a 1991. Essa reforma reestruturou o ensino da História como disciplina escolar, influenciado pelas inovações no campo da Nova História, incorporando novas abordagens já presentes na prática cotidiana da sala de aula. A conjuntura política de redemocratização contribuiu para esta mudança, na medida em que, o intenso debate presente entre os profissionais de educação e as transformações na estrutura governamental, deram origem a uma nova conformação das políticas públicas de educação. / [en] This dissertation proposes a reflection about the curricular reform that occurred at Rio de Janeiro, between 1983 and 1991. In this context, was observed in Brazil, the recuperation of a democratic state experience. This curricular reform that occurred at Rio de Janeiro has some elements that can help us to discuss, in our days, questions that is relationed with political education, the meaning and the objective of the History learning. Between 1980 and 90 decades, the social movements had an important whole in that scenery. History, as an scholar discipline, was rescued, influenced by the Nouvelle Histoire movement. Although it was a political transition period, we can observe important changes in educational politics.
