Syftet med studien var att undersöka socialsekreterares upplevelser av förhållningssättet Signs of Safety och dess betydelse i arbetet med barnutredningar utifrån tre frågeställningar: Signs of Safetys inverkan på utredningsarbetet, om förhållningssättet hade någon betydelse för de berörda familjerna samt deras upplevelser av Signs of Safetys implementeringsprocess. För att besvara syftet användes en kvalitativ metod där halvstrukturerade intervjuer genomfördes med fem socialsekreterare som arbetar med barn och familjer inom socialtjänsten i olika kommuner i Sverige. Kvalitativ innehållsanalys användes för att analysera det insamlade materialet vilket utmynnade i tre huvudteman som motsvarade våra frågeställningar. För att analysera resultatet användes empowerment och socialarbetarens handlingsutrymme som teoretiska utgångspunkter. Resultatet visade att socialsekreterarna var positiva till användandet av Signs of Safety och att det är ett tydligt och konkret sätt för både utredare och familj att följa hela utredningsprocessen. Socialsekreterarna upplevde även familjerna som positiva till användandet av Signs of Safety då de får insyn och blir delaktiga i utredningsprocessen. Avslutningsvis visade resultatet att implementeringen av en ny metod som Signs of Safety tar tid och att det är viktigt med handledning samt stöttning från chefer och kollegor för att säkerställa fortsatt användande av metoden. / The purpose of the study was to investigate social secretaries’ experiences of the approach Signs of Safety and its importance in the work on child investigations based on three questions: Signs of Safety's impact on the investigation work, if the approach had any significance for the families concerned and their experiences of Signs of Safety's implementation process. In order to answer the purpose, a qualitative method was used where semi-structured interviews were conducted with five social secretaries working with children and families within the social services in different municipalities in Sweden. Qualitative content analysis was used to analyze the collected material, which resulted in three main themes that corresponded with our questions. To analyze the results, empowerment and the social worker's room for maneuver were used as theoretical starting points. The result showed that the social secretaries were positive about the use of Signs of Safety and that it is a clear and concrete way for both investigators and family to follow the entire investigation process. The social secretaries also experienced the families as positive towards the use of Signs of Safety as they gain insight and become involved in the investigation process. In conclusion, the result showed that the implementation of a new method such as Signs of Safety takes time and that it is important with supervision and support from managers and colleagues to ensure continued use of the method.
