"Det skulle jag säga är den största anledningen, att ekonomin är den kvarhållande faktorn" : En studie om socialarbetares upplevelser av de ekonomiska konsekvenservåldsutsatta kvinnor möter efter att de lämnat en relation av våld

ABSTRACT Seen from a societal and public health perspective, violence in close relationships is a widespread problem. Statistics show that it is mainly women who are affected in heterosexual relationships. Violence is expressed in various forms, such as physically, mentally, sexually and financially. For women exposed to violence, the consequences for her are often devastating. Apart from physical and mental injuries, they are largely the financial injuries that continue to affect the woman for several years after she ends the relationship. The purpose of this study is to examine social workers' experiences of the economic problems experienced by abused women. We have done this by interviewing seven social workers from the women's shelter, sheltered housing and the social services. Based on the data collection, the results have been analyzed with the help of current research and a theoretical framework from violence in close relationships. The results show that the economic consequences faced by women exposed to violence are pervasive and that society's support is not sufficient or dependent on which municipality the woman belongs to. The social workers highlight various types of change work that are considered necessary in the continued work with women exposed to violence. Better collaboration between different actors is central to this future development work. Keywords: Violence in a close relationship, men´s violence against women, financial consequences, leaving a violent relationship, the normalization process, the break-up process.
