In consulation with the culture and leisure administration in Karlstad we wanted to map the feeling and experience of para-sports athletes regarding accessibility adaptations made at facilities within the municipality of Karlstad. Previous studies for this area in the context of what Karlstad has investigated have not been found. This study is therefore unique to its context, and previous studies will therefore be used with regard to similar principles or similar information concerning the area. This survey aims to find out what accessibility looks like in Karlstad municipality's sports facilities as well as the perceived feeling that para sports athletes have regarding accessibility issues. The research work was based on the qualitative research method with semi-structured focus group interviews. Furthermore, field visits were made to sports facilities to examine accessibility adaptations made on behalf of the5municipality. The results of this work are presented in two separate parts where one is based on the focus group interviews while the other is based on what emerges during the field study visits. The results showed that many of the municipality's facilities comply with the applicable building laws and regulations for the time when the building was erected or renovated. Furthermore, the focus group respondents point out positive parts, including the current booking system and parking areas for the sports facilities that are easily accessible. However, a number of deficiencies were observed within the municipality's sports facilities to maximize accessibility issues. In summary, this study shows that the municipality has disabled participants in mind when establishing new sports facilities and facilities to include all citizens.
