The program of this thesis is to trace the development of Hegel's thought in the writings of his youth as they evolved to and influenced the thinking of his maturity. These writings are of particular interest for they are characterized by a flexibility, a vitality, an historical, existential insight and concern which is relatively lacking in his later works.
