Previous issue date: 2008-12-05 / Esta dissertação tem por objetivo ampliar a documentação e conhecimento da arquitetura moderna brasileira, mais especificamente, daquela que se realiza em Brasília, após sua inauguração e tem como principal objeto de levantamento, análise e discussão a obra do arquiteto Milton Ramos (1929-2008). A proposta desse recorrido é que seja feito um estudo delimitado e vertical, como forma de aclarar questões que porventura não tenham sido abordadas detidamente em demais publicações que têm objetivo geral semelhante ao aqui proposto. O trabalho é constituído de duas partes. Na primeira seção é proposta uma discussão acerca do conceito de tipo e tipologia e de sua transformação ao longo do tempo verificável na leitura de diversas reflexões críticas, desde a definição pioneira de Quatremère de Quincy, até as leituras e acepções presentes em formulações elaboradas a partir da segunda metade do século XX. Com isso, pretende-se observar a pertinência da categoria para melhor compreensão das linguagens que se desenvolvem com a modernidade arquitetônica brasileira. A segunda parte situa características distintivas da geração moderna que atua em Brasília, especialmente durante as décadas de 1960 e 1970, e que foram essenciais para a afirmação e realização dessa cidade. É nesse contexto que se situa a obra de Milton Ramos, objeto histórico fundamental para a compreensão do período de discussão proposto nesta dissertação. _______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / This thesis aims to augment the documentation and knowledge of the Brazilian modern architecture, more specifically, the one produced in Brasília after its inauguration, through the documentation, analysis and discussion of the work of architect Milton Ramos (1929 – 2008). he proposal is to develop a well-delimited and vertical study, as means to enlighten
issues that, eventually, were not addressed in the existing literature. his study is composed of two parts. he first section proposes a discussion about the concept of type and typology, and their transformation through time verified in several critiques, from the pioneering definition of Quatremère de Quincy, to the readings and interpretations presented in formulations developed in the second half of the twentieth century. Thus, the intention is to observe the pertinence of these categories for the better understanding of the architectural languages developed during the Brazilian modernity. he second part situates distinctive characteristics of the modern Brazilian architects’ generation that worked in Brasilia, especially during the 1960s and 1970s, which were essential to the affirmation and concretization of that city. It is in this context that Milton Ramos’ work is situated, a fundamental historic object for the comprehension of the period here discussed.
