In this qualitative interview study, four upper secondary school English teachers shared their views on writing in an English classroom, and their views on AI-tools and their advantages and disadvantages related to their work as English teachers. The study shows that these teachers practice writing with their pupils to help them become better writers. They also support their students by using example texts to teach specific genres and styles and provide feedback to guide their pupils. Furthermore, the study shows that the teachers see AI-tools as tools for inspiration for both students and teachers. However, they also mentioned that one downside is that students often try to find shortcuts with AI-tools, rather than using them to improve their writing.
