Tableau d’honneur de la Faculté des études supérieures et postdoctorales, 2007-2008. / Utilisant des données provenant d'une étude prospective plus large, nous avons exploré les déterminants du maintien de l'allaitement après le retour au travail de travailleuses du réseau de la Santé et des Services sociaux du Québec. Parmi les 170 répondantes ayant allaité pendant au moins deux mois, celles ayant maintenu l'allaitement après le retour au travail (le comportement) ont allaité environ deux fois plus longtemps. L'intention s'est généralement révélée un bon prédicteur du comportement. Dans le modèle final, les répondantes ayant une efficacité personnelle favorable face au comportement étaient plus susceptibles de maintenir l'allaitement après leur retour au travail. Moins de la moitié des répondantes travaillaient dans un environnement considéré comme facilitant. Afin de mieux soutenir les femmes qui désirent poursuivre l'allaitement après leur retour au travail, il semble pertinent de travailler à la fois sur les individus et sur leur environnement. / Using data from a broader prospective study, we explored the determinants of the continuation of breastfeeding after returning to work among workers of the network of Health and Social services in Québec. Among 170 respondents who had breastfed for at least two months, those who continued breastfeeding after returning to work (the behavior) breastfed for approximately twice as long. Intention was generally a good predictor of behaviour. In the final model, respondents having a higher self-efficacy towards the behavior were more likely to continue breastfeeding after their return to work. Less than half of the respondents worked in an environment considered as facilitating. In order to better support women who wish to continue breastfeeding after their return to work, it seems relevant to work on both the individuals and their environment.
