Previous issue date: 2008 / Nesta pesquisa, verifica-se como está representada a velhice feminina, observando-se personagens femininas em suas trajetórias para e na velhice, em narrativas da literatura brasileira contemporânea, percebendo-se como se delineiam os espaços possíveis ocupados por elas e, nestes, os conflitos geracionais, a exploração e o abandono, a morte, o desejo sexual, a degradação de seus corpos e o silenciamento ou o aparecimento de suas vozes, pois, na medida em que se avança na idade, diminui-se a velocidade dos passos e vai-se perdendo o poder de voz. Apresentadas em etapas diferentes de vida, em condições físicas e sociais diversas, elas protagonizam narrativas cujo enfoque é a mulher frente às perdas, que acompanham o envelhecimento, e à solidão. Resta-lhes a memória. Neste contexto, analisamse e elementos espaciais e temporais e seus significados, bem como objetos presentes, que são também narradores, para compreender as relações dessas mulheres com o outro, que as olha, ou narra; e consigo, no intuito de entender, enfim, o que essas mulheres têm a mostrar/esconder e o que elas têm a dizer e como o fazem (se falam ou quando falam por elas). Nesta perspectiva, a análise das estratégias discursivas nos processos de narração evidenciam as construções estéticas para a produção de sentidos. Deste modo, faz-se uma leitura da localização da mulher velha em nossa sociedade, estabelecendo-se relações entre sua visibilidade, seu espaço físico e enunciativo, na intimidade e na vida social, em que o corpo degradado é alvo de preconceito, no âmbito literário no qual este é centro das discussões através de suas representações. _________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / In this research, the representation of female elderly is shown by the observation of the female characters on their path towards and in old age in Brazilian contemporary narratives, remarking how their possible spaces are designed as well as other elements within such spaces like generation conflicts, exploitation and abandon, death, sexual desire, body degradation and the silence or the eloquence of their voices, for, as they age, the steps speed and the voice power are diminished. In different phases of their lives, in several physical and social conditions, they play a leading role in narratives focusing the women facing the losses, that come along with aging, and loneliness. The memory is what is left for them. In suchcontext, in order to understand the relation (ships) of the women with the Other, who stare at or narrate them; and with themselves aiming to comprehend what those women want to show/hide, what they have to say and how they do it, by analyzing the meaning of the spatial and time elements, as well as the objects which are also narrators. Thus, the analysis of the discursive strategies in the narration processes enhances the aesthetical construction for the production of meanings. Then, a reading of the placement of the old woman in our society is done by discussing her visibility in several physical or enunciative spaces, in her intimacy and social life (in which the degraded body is prejudiced), and in the literary field, where such body is the focus of the discussions throughout its representations.
