Previous issue date: 2009 / In this Doctoral Dissertation, we describe the acquisition process of the Brazilian Portuguese phonemes /f/, /v/, /S/ and /Z/ by children with phonological disorders. We consider each one of the phonological positions that can be occupied by these segments, that is, /f/ in word-initial and medial single and complex onsets, /v/ in word-initial and medial single onsets and medial complex onsets, /S/ and /Z/ in word-initial and medial single onsets. The data are part of the DESFONO and CELF databanks, from which we could obtain 46 monolingual children showing atypical phonological development at ages between 4:0 and 8:10. The results were analyzed as follows: firstly, we organized the data according to the repair strategies employed by the children, as well as the linguistic variables and the extralinguistic variable that play a role in the acquisition process. The data were analyzed statistically with the VARBRUL software package. Secondly, eight informants showing different types of phonological disorders were selected from the data sample and had their phonoterapeutic processes analyzed. At this stage of our study, we focused on the role, in the effectiveness of the therapy, played by the target words used in the treatment, as we considered the variables of word stress, number of syllables, position of the target segment within the word and preceding and following segments with regard to the target fricative. The sample was submitted to the ABAB Therapy Model (Tyler & Figurski, 1994). / Esta tese de doutorado descreve a aquisição dos fonemas /f/, /v/, /S/ e /Z/ do português por crianças com desvio fonológico, em todas as posições que estes segmentos podem ocupar na língua portuguesa, ou seja, o /f/, em posição de onset simples (absoluto e medial) e complexo (absoluto e medial), o /v/, em posição de onset simples (absoluto e medial) e em posição de onset complexo medial, o /S/ e o /Z/ em posição de onset simples (absoluto e medial). Os dados iniciais são de 46 crianças monolíngües com desenvolvimento fonológico atípico e idade entre 4:0 e 8:10 anos, pertencentes aos Bancos de Dados DESFONO e CELF. Os resultados foram analisados como segue: primeiro, os dados referentes à aquisição das fricativas em relação às estratégias de reparo utilizadas pelas crianças, bem como as variáveis lingüísticas e a variável extralingüística que influenciam na aquisição. Os dados utilizados foram submetidos à análise estatística pelo conjunto de programas que fazem parte do Pacote VARBRUL. Em um segundo momento, oito sujeitos com diferentes tipos de desvio fonológico foram selecionados da amostra e tiveram seus processos terapêuticos analisados. O foco desta etapa da pesquisa foi o efeito do valor de favorecimento que as palavras-alvo de tratamento, gerado pela tonicidade, número de sílabas, posição na palavra, contexto fonológico precedente e contexto fonológico seguinte, envolvendo as fricativas, têm no sucesso da terapia. O modelo de terapia a que essa amostra foi submetida foi o ABAB-Retirada e Provas Múltiplas de Tyler e Figurski (1994).
