Esta dissertação trata das obras de arquitetura do engenheiro Cândido de Abreu, construídas entre 1897 e 1916 na cidade de Curitiba. O contexto da época é introduzido através da discussão do Ecletismo na arquitetura, tanto em geral como especificamente no contexto curitibano, onde é relacionado com a expansão e o planejamento da capital paranaense. Segue-se uma breve apresentação biográfica de Cândido de Abreu. A parte principal da dissertação consiste em estudos de caso que analisam as obras atribuídas a Cândido de Abreu, procurando tanto descrevê-las como verificar nelas os valores que refletem o debate arquitetônico de seu tempo, procurando estabelecer seu significado e importância no quadro da história da arquitetura local. / This dissertation is about Cândido de Abreu’s architectural works, which were built between 1897 and 1916 in Curitiba. The context of those days is introduced through a discussion of Eclecticism in architecture, both in the general and specific environment of Curitiba, where it is related to the expansion and planning of the capital city of Paraná. After that, a brief biography of Cândido de Abreu is presented. The main part of the dissertation consists of case studies which analyze the works attributed to Cândido de Abreu in order to describe them and verify if they contain the values which reflect the architectonical debate of those days. Furthermore, this dissertation presents an attempt to establish the meaning and relevance of Cândido de Abreu’s works within the architectural history of Curitiba.
