Research exists regarding stress among assistant nurses working in care homes during the covid-19 pandemic. The studies suggest that stress amongst assistant nurses in care homes has increased in connection to the covid-19 pandemic due to certain factors. The experience of stress has led to consequences for the assistant nurses which we will be present in this study. During our own research we have found a knowledge gap in Swedish studies covering stress, particularly amongst assistant nurses in care homes.  The aim of this study is to present how assistant nurses working in care homes for the elderly experience and perceive stress in their workplace in connection to the covid-19 pandemic. The study has been completed using a qualitative research method where the data collection process has been purposive. The data collected has consisted of semi-structured interviews.  The result has shown that assistant nurses have experienced increased work-related stress in connection with the covid-19 pandemic. The factors that have affected the stress experienced by the assistant nurses has been increased workload, decreased opportunity for recovery, higher demands at the same time as the perceived control over their work was lower and lastly, staff shortages. Finally the consequences of the stress experienced has affected the assistant nurses’ well being in their role and workplace as well as affected their health. / Det finns forskning inom området stress bland undersköterskor på äldreboendenunder covid-19 pandemin.
