Previous issue date: 2012-02-28 / Daily life has been a subject of interest for specialists of several areas of knowledge, with different purposes. The increasing valorization of this theme reflected in different kinds of theoretical studies and theories because of its relevance. Considering the complexity in the (re)construction process of daily life, the occupational therapist should have a more precise monitoring about the organization of the activities and the assessment process. It is necessary to take care of the individual s place and satisfaction on this organization. People with development disorders have their daily life altered. This happens to children suffering from cerebral palsy. The objective of this study is to describe and compare the daily life aspects of 19 children with cerebral palsy and 19 children who have typical development, related by the children s routine, leisure, personal care, school and , educational and therapeutic activities. To achieve this goal, a general description of every child was made according to data obtained at interviews and the use of an Activities Clock used by the organizers (the goal was to investigate how the child s daily life is organized). According to the results obtained it is possible to verify that the children with cerebral palsy have more dependency in day life activities, lesser diversity of companion, lesser diversity of places to go and lesser leisure, when compared to children with typical development. The obtained results presented and discussed in this study could contribute in increasing the knowledge about the daily life of children with or without deficiencies, their main similarities and differences, as well as in pointing to new researches that are needed within this area. / O cotidiano tem sido tema de interesse de diversos especialistas em diferentes áreas do conhecimento, com objetivos variados. A valorização crescente deste tema refletiu na produção de teorias e pesquisas que discutem a sua importância. Considerando a complexidade na (re)construção do cotidiano, o terapeuta ocupacional deverá estar atento não apenas à avaliação de como estão sendo organizadas as atividades, mas também ao papel e à satisfação do sujeito diante dessa organização. Em pessoas com distúrbios do desenvolvimento, a vida cotidiana e as construções do indivíduo acabam sendo alteradas. É o caso das crianças com paralisia cerebral. Este estudo teve por objetivo descrever e comparar aspectos do cotidiano de 19 crianças com paralisia cerebral e 19 crianças com desenvolvimento típico, relacionados a sua rotina diária, às atividades de cuidados pessoais, de lazer, escolares/educativas e terapêuticas. Para tal, foi feita a descrição geral das crianças por meio dos dados obtidos através da aplicação de entrevistas semiestruturadas e do instrumento Relógio de Atividades, realizados com os responsáveis. Os resultados mostraram que as crianças com paralisia cerebral apresentam maior dependência na realização de suas atividades de vida diária, menor diversidade de companhias, de ambientes frequentados e menor tempo dedicado a atividades de lazer, quando comparadas com as crianças com desenvolvimento típico. Os achados apresentados e discutidos puderam contribuir com a ampliação do conhecimento sobre o cotidiano de crianças com e sem deficiências, suas semelhanças e principais diferenças, além de apontar para novas pesquisas que se fazem necessárias dentro da área.
