I den här studie undersöks det hur socialsekreterare som arbetar med barnutredningar inom socialtjänsten arbetar för att göra barn delaktiga under utredningsprocessen samt socialsekreterarnas möjligheter, hinder och handlingsutrymme för barns delaktighet. Utifrån studiens syfte genomfördes sex semistrukturerade intervjuer med socialsekreterare som arbetar med barnutredningar. Insamlad data har analyserats genom utvecklingsekologisk teori, Sheir delaktighetsmodell och gräsrotsbyråkrati samt handlingsutrymme. Vidare har insamlad data analyserats genom tidigare forskning. Det framkommer i tidigare forskning att socialarbetare har förståelse för vad barns delaktighet innebär samt att ålder och mognad kan vara ett hinder för delaktighet. Tidsbrist kan även påverka barns delaktighet medan en bra relationen mellan barn och socialsekreterarna kan underlätta barns delaktighet. I resultatet framkommer att intervjupersonerna upplever att alla barn görs delaktiga i utredningsprocessen. Intervjupersonerna beskriver barns delaktighet som att barn ska få möjlighet att framföra sina åsikter och olika metoder används för att underlätta samtal med barn. Barnets ålder och mognad upplevs inte vara en påverkansfaktor för delaktigheten. I intervjuerna lyfts föräldrar som något som kan vara ett hinder för barns delaktighet, att föräldrarna tror att det kan vara jobbigt för barnet att komma till socialkontoret för att prata om händelser som har varit, att det blir ytterligare trauma för barnet. / This study examined how social workers involved children in investigation of child protection cases, opportunities for social workers to include children, difficulties around participation of children and room for maneuver. Based on the purpose of the study, six semi-structured interviews were conducted on social workers who work on investigation of children. Data was analyzed along Bronfrenbrenner’s developmental ecology theory, Shier's model of participation theory and Lipsky`s Street-Level Bureaucracy theory. Previous research shows that social workers understand what child participation means, and that age and maturity can be an obstacle to participation by children, that lack of time can be an influence on children's participation and that a good relationship between children and social workers can facilitate children's participation. Results of the current study show that the interviewees feel that they involve children in the investigation process, and that they meet the children at least one to several times during the investigation process. The interviewees described child participation as giving children an opportunity to express their opinions and they had different methods of including children in the investigation process regardless of age and maturity. They agreed that parents were an obstacle to child participation in investigation. Some parents felt that it was difficult for children to participate as this would lead to further trauma for the child.
