Previous issue date: 1983-02 / Procurou-se nesta tese estudar casos simples de hastes retas levadas à flambagem transversal (Kippe) em regime elasto-plástico. A exposição fundamenta-se numa formulação geral da Estabilidade Elástica devida à G. H. Bryan. É instituída a equação geral de Kippe com aplicações a exemplos mediante o uso de diferenças finitas, tanto em fase elástica como em elasto-plástica. Os resultados são discutidos em capítulo próprio. O tratamento numérico restringiu-se, face às dificuldades intrínsecas ao problema, ao exame de lâminas de aço de seção retangular. / The object of the present thesis is an investigation of the problem of elasto-plastic lateral buckling of beams. The theory is based on the general formulation of elastic stability due to G. H. Bryan. The buckling equations are solved by the method of finite differences, both in the elastic and the elasto-plastic range. Relevant results are discussed in a special chapter. In order to avoid, more involved questions, numerical treatments have been restricted to steel beams with rectangular cross-section.
