This study analyses the construction and the performance of the religious body of female members of a “common” of the Christian Congregation of Brazil church (Recife). This is the first church of a pentecostal denomination to be introduced in Brazil (in 1910). To achieve this aim, we concentrate on the ethnographic and analytical examination of the category of the “body”, by means of concepts like “body techniques”, “habitus”, “pre-objective”, and “embodiment”, while also reflecting upon the cosmology and practices of this particular religion. With this analysis in mind, we conclude that the construction of the female body in the Christian Congregation of Brazil is founded upon the dialectical relation between the native categories of sainthood, feeling to belong to God, and communion.
