Previous issue date: 2011 / This study is a research topic of the carnival life of this institution and the Sports Association of Chiefs Charitable Restinga between 1977 and 2002, its role in the construction of identity and visibility of the Restinga district. Its analyzes the processes of spatial segregation in the city of Porto Alegre and the public housing policy. In addition, an overview aa dash from a literature review dealing with the transformations of the carnival in Porto Alegre. The process of founding the school of samba as well as structuring and consolidation, from interviews with community members and components of the samba school, and materials published in newspapers. / O presente estudo tem como tema de investigação a trajetória da entidade carnavalesca Sociedade Recreativa e Beneficiente Estado Maior da Restinga entre 1977 e 2002, seu papel na construção da identidade e visibilidade do bairro Restinga. Para tanto, analiso os processos de segregação espacial na cidade de Porto Alegre e as políticas públicas de habitação. Além disto, traço um panorama geral a partir de uma revisão bibliográfica que trata transformações do carnaval em Porto Alegre. O processo de fundação da escola de samba, bem como sua estruturação e consolidação, a partir das entrevistas junto aos membros da comunidade e componentes da escola, e de matérias publicadas em jornais da época.
