Previous issue date: 2009 / This research essay involved students and teachers of elementary school, especially classes of Sciences 7th grade, and sought to allow the researcher to be entirely on the pre-knowledge about the damage to human health caused by endocrine disruptors (hormone disruptors) dispersed in environment and its relationship with biological systems, especially with the hormonal system, and discover how it can promote an interdisciplinary action to expand such knowledge. Simulators hormone can bind directly to cellular receptors designed specifically to hormones, to block these binding sites so that the true hormones can not make this connection, organism inducing the creation of new sites of cell receptors, changing the message biochemistry of hormones true, and change substantially the amount of hormones circulating in the blood, among other disorders. Therefore, before a relatively unexplored subject in the media and the importance of ecological, social and public health, we identified the need to bring up the subject in order to rescue the students the spirit of scientific, ethical, reflective and critical situation, for the better development of their citizenship. We tried to also bring to the school environment and teaching methodologies able to integrate scientific knowledge, through proposals for interdisciplinary work, in order to break sealed and compartmentalized knowledge, very common in a society whose culture favors the over-specialization.This research essay sought to contextualize and problematize the issue of rational use of plastic and the risks to which we humans are exposed through interdisciplinary educational activities with students and teachers at a State school in Porto Alegre-RS. / Este trabalho de pesquisa envolveu alunos e professores do Ensino Fundamental, em especial turmas de Ciências de 7ª série, e procurou permitir que o pesquisador se inteirasse sobre os pré-conhecimentos acerca dos danos à saúde humana causadas pelos disruptores endócrinos (desreguladores hormonais) dispersos no ambiente e sua relação com os sistemas biológicos, principalmente com o sistema hormonal, e descobrir como seria possível promover uma ação interdisciplinar para a ampliação desses conhecimentos. Os simuladores hormonais podem se ligar diretamente aos receptores celulares designados especificamente aos hormônios, bloquear esses sítios de ligação de maneira que os verdadeiros hormônios não possam fazer esta ligação, induzir o organismo à criação de novos sítios de receptores celulares, alterar a mensagem bioquímica dos hormônios verdadeiros, e modificar substancialmente a quantidade de hormônios circulantes no sangue, entre outros distúrbios orgânicos. Portanto, diante de um tema pouco explorado pela mídia e de importância ecológica, social e para a saúde pública, identificamos a necessidade de se trazer à tona o assunto, no intuito de resgatar nos alunos o espírito científico, ético, reflexivo e de criticidade, para o melhor desenvolvimento da sua cidadania. Buscou-se trazer também para o ambiente escolar metodologias de ensino capazes de integrar o conhecimento científico, através de propostas de trabalho de caráter interdisciplinar, visando a ruptura de conhecimentos estanques e compartimentalizados, muito comum em uma sociedade cuja cultura privilegia a superespecialização.Este trabalho de pesquisa procurou contextualizar e problematizar a questão do uso racional do plástico e os riscos a que nós seres humanos estamos expostos por meio de atividades didáticas interdisciplinares com alunos e professores de uma escola estadual de Porto Alegre- RS.
