Seis documentários brasileiros considerados emblemáticos, com relação ao início da Reforma: "Em Nome da Razão" de Helvécio Ratton, "Artur Bispo do Rosário - O Prisioneiro da Passagem", de Hugo Denizart, a trilogia "Imagens do Inconsciente" de Leon Hirszman e o "Hospital Anchieta, produção coletiva - foram estudados. Trata-se de estudo de natureza qualitativa com análise documental orientada pela perspectiva de Marc Ferro. Os documentários problematizam os acontecimentos fundadores da construção de novas práticas e saberes no campo da Saúde Mental, que propiciaram uma nova maneira de olhar, cuidar e organizar uma rede de serviços de saúde mental. A análise destes documentários revela uma intenção de seus atores por uma intervenção cultural expressa nas questões históricas, políticas, artísticas e culturais que trazem para o âmbito da reforma psiquiátrica no Brasil, ampliando este debate para um público mais amplo. Pode-se dizer que estes documentários influenciaram e foram influenciados pelo movimento da reforma psiquiátrica no Brasil.Trazem, ainda para um primeiro plano a importância do cinema documentário no registro, construção e memória da história da reforma psiquiátrica brasileira / Abstract: The form how Documentary Cinema narrated the events of Psychiatric Reform in Brazil in its first decade (1979-1989) is studied. Six Brazilian documentaries considered emblematic concerning of beginning of the Reform - "Em Nome da Razão" [In the name of Reason] by Hélvecio Ratton, "Artur Bispo do Rosário - Prisioneiro da Passagem" [ Artur Rosary Bishop - The Passage Prisoner] by Hugo Denizart, the trilogy "Imagens do Inconsciente" [ Image of the Unconscious] by Leon Hirszman and "Hospital Anchieta" [Anchieta's Hospital], a collective production - were studied. This qualitative study with document analysis is guided by the perspective of Marc Ferro. The documentaries question the events that founded the building of novel practices and Knowledge in the field of Mental Health, which led to a new way of considering, caring and organizing a service net in mental health.
