Alguns espaços rurais, principalmente os próximos aos grandes centros urbanos, vem apresentando mudanças significativas nas últimas décadas no Brasil. Neles começam a aflorar novas características entre as quais pode-se destacar a extinção de muitos espaços destinados as práticas agrícolas. O município de Porto Alegre não exceção em meio às transformações. Nele evidencia-se a tendência de expansão da cidade em direção as áreas rurais, reconfigurando-as e ocasionando, principalmente, a extinção desses espaços nos quais desenvolvem-se a agricultura. Contudo, muitos desses espaços destinados a essas práticas não se transformaram totalmente em espaços urbanos. Em meio a este contexto na qual agricultura e as dinâmicas sócio-espaciais de Porto Alegre antagonizam-se, a presente pesquisa tem por objetivo compreender os principais elementos econômicos, políticos e culturais mantenedores dos espaços destinados a agricultura, em grandes centros urbanos frente, à extinção e incorporação desses espaços à cidade. Utilizando-se da visão dos agricultores localizados no município de Porto Alegre/RS. / Some rural spaces, especially close to large urban areas, have shown significant changes over the last decades in Brazil. Within these spaces new characteristics begin to emerge in which can be highlighted the extinction of many spaces dedicated to agricultural practices. The city of Porto Alegre is not an exception among these transformations. It becomes evident the trend of expansion of the city towards the rural areas, changing their configuration and causing, mainly, the extinction of these spaces on which agriculture has been developed. However, many of these spaces destined to these practices did not become completely urban spaces. In this context in which agriculture and the socio spatial dynamics of Porto Alegre become antagonistic, this research seeks to understand the main economic, politic and cultural elements that support the spaces destined to agriculture, in large urban centers face, to the extinction and incorporation of these spaces to the city.
