Previous issue date: 2008-03-07 / O objetivo do trabalho foi investigar o controle por contingências e por estímulos verbais – instruções com crianças. Dois grupos foram constituídos por diferentes idades – o primeiro de 3 a 4 anos e o segundo de 6 a 7 anos, todos expostos a um procedimento de pareamento ao modelo. A tarefa consistiu em apontar para estímulos iguais ou diferentes na presença de um estimulo contextual. Na Condição 1, as contingências da Fase 1 foram alteradas na Fase 2 e restabelecidas nas Fases 3 e 4, na qual se apresentou novos estímulos contextuais. A Condição 2/Fase 1, iniciou-se com instrução mínima, na Fase 2 inverteu-se as contingências anteriormente apresentadas, acompanhadas de instrução completa, e na Fase 3 retornou-se a contingência da Fase 1. Na Condição 3, as fases tiveram uma mesma contingência programada, com instrução inconsistente na Fase 2. Comparando-se os dados dos grupos em todo o estudo observou-se que, a despeito da história experimental, as crianças em processo de socialização mais adiantado (6 e 7 anos) utilizaram mais tentativas para discriminar as mudanças nas contingências que as crianças mais jovens (3 e 4 anos), as quais apresentam um desempenho com menor variação e menor resistência à mudança do padrão de respostas ao serem expostas a novas contingências,. Os relatos verbais foram consistentes com as contingências, em ambos os grupos, exceto P7 na fase de instrução discrepante com a contingência. ____________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / The purpose of the study was to investigate the control by contingencies and by verbal
stimulus - instructions with children. Two groups were constituted with children in different
ages - the first group from 3 to 4 years and the second from 6 to 7 years, all exposed to a
matching – to – sample task. The task consisted of point out equal or different stimulus in the
presence of a contextual stimulus. In Condition 1 the contingencies of Stage 1 were altered in
Stage 2 and reestablished in Stage 3 and 4, with different contextual stimulus. The Condition
2/Stage 1 begun with a minimal instruction, in Stage 2 the contingencies were reversed and was
given full instruction, and in Stage 3 there was a return to the contingencies of Stage 1. In
Condition 3, the stages had the same programmed contingency, with inconsistent instruction on
Stage 2. Comparing the data of the groups along the study, in spite of the experimental history,
could we observe that the children in earlier socialization process (6 and 7 years) used more
attempts to discriminate the changes in contingencies that the younger children (3 and 4 years),
which presented a behavior with less variation and less resistant to changes in response pattern
when exposed to new contingencies. The verbal reports were consistent with the contingencies,
in both groups, except P7 in the stage with instruction discrepant with the contingency.
