Tesis para optar al grado de Magíster en Literatura / En el presente trabajo se intentará revisar el rol que juegan los personajes principales de
dos novelas de Carlos Droguett: Eloy y Todas esas muertes. Proponemos que ambos
personajes, el bandido Eloy y el asesino Emilio Dubois representarían, a través de su
descentramiento como sujetos, de la fragmentación en la escritura y su representación
alegórica de la nación, una crítica política a los procesos de modernización vividos en
Chile tanto a principios de siglo como a mediados del siglo XX. / In the present work we will attempt to review the role that two main characters of
Carlos Droguett’s novels plays, in Eloy and Todas esas muertes. We propose that both
characters, the bandit Eloy and the serial killer Emilio Dubois, represent, through their
decentered personalities, the fragmentation of the writing and their allegoric
representation of the nation, a political critic of the modernization processes that took
place in Chile both in the early twentieth century and midcentury.
