Automatiserade beslut inom Försäkringskassan

Automated Decision Making is an increasingly growing field in the IT area. Society is leaving more and more decisions to the computers to make. The purpose of this study is to examine what automated decision making is, how and why the swedish authority Försäkringskassan have implemented automated decision making and what the results of their implementation are. For this data was gathered using interviews with people inside Försäkringskassan and the study performed a qualitative approach. To limit the scope of this study it is focused on a branch inside of Försäkringskassan called Barn och Familj. The study gave a deeper understanding of how the systems of automated decision making were used, why an implementation of the systems was necessary and what the future may hold for the branch regarding the development of automated decision making. Further research in this field may be necessary to provide a full-fledged view of Försäkringskassans work with automated decision making. However, this research will significantly shorten the distance to a fully developed understanding. The result of this report is that the branch Barn och Familj uses automated decision-making systems in three different areas. Child allowances, housing allowances and parental insurance are the areas that are fully or partially automated. The conclusion is that the department's systems have been introduced to save time. This is so that administrators can take care of applications that for various reasons require extra resources. The language of this document is swedish.
